On November 21, 1997, Melissa and some of her closet friends were out having a good time. They were on their way to go skating at the park. They were transporting a Skate Ramp and the Chevy Blazer was overcrowded. Melissa and her 4 friends didn't put their seat belts on. They were driving down a dirt road in Derby, Kansas. The speed limit was 55. The driver lost control and the vehicle left the road and rolled over. Melissa Lost her life that night. One of her friends's is now a quadriplegic. All of our lived changed that night. You can't imagine how one mistake can change your life forever. I now have only the memories of Melissa. Each one I hold close to my heart. She will be forever missed in my life.

How I Cope

Melissa had told me and others that she was going to die young. I think she has visited me in spirit a few times. My friends and family have been very supportive. I go to 2 support groups also. My faith in God, and his promises kep me holind on. Knowing that I'll be rejoined with my beautiful daughter someday.
