Rockin the Mall in Phili...
From the Courier Times
Teenyboppers aren't always femalefans of pop groups. That was evident at Neil A. Armstrong Middle School yesterday afternoon as the male students slid back and forth along the bleachers so as not to lose a view of the performers behind a speaker.
"The boys are more excited," said 13-year-old Bill Kulbinn about the girl bands he had previously seen on the Disney Channel.
Innosense and Dream paid a visit to the school on Wistar Road, giving the 700 students, their teachers and a few parents a preview of the groups' concerts tonight at Neshaminy Mall, one of 77 malls on the Rock the Mall tour. The tour is associated with "Do Something," a charity started by actor Andrew Shue.
According to the charity's Web site, www.dosomething.org, the mission of the group is to create a "nationwide network of young people who know they can make a difference and take action to change the world around them."
D. J. Feldman, who introduced the bands, told the group of fired-up spectators that "anything you want to improve in your community, 'Do Something' can help with resources and funding."
According to Innosense tour manager Kari Sellards, when the Rock the Mall tour - which sometimes involves five shows a day - is finished, both acts will join famed boy band 'N Sync on its tour that begins Nov. 7.
Armstrong students enjoy the performances of Innosence and Dream.
The four 15- and 16-year-old girls from Los Angeles, Ashley Poole, Diana Ortiz, Holly Arnstein and Melissa Schuman, who make up Dream, seemed just as starry-eyed over their upcoming tour with 'N Sync as those in the audience were when the group performed its single "He Loves U Not."
" 'N Sync, HELLO?" said Ashley in disbelief that she would be sharing a stage with the group.
"We really look up to them," said Diana. "They inspire us."
The girls of Dream, who are tutored while on tour, aren't the only ones in a state of disbelief.
"Oh my God, oh my God," 13-year-old Sharon Harnatkiewicz repeated over and over after the concert. She was still in shock that she actually had seen Dream in person after watching them perform their single on the Fox Family Channel.
Armstrong eigth-grader Justin Resrode received a special treat when he got a hug from Innosense singer Mandy Ashford.
Fourteen-year-old Justin Resrode also received a special treat when Innosense singer Mandy Ashford hugged him.
The five young women of Innosense - Nikki Deloach, 21, Jenny Morris, 20, Veronica Finn, 19, Mandy Ashford, 21, and Danay Ferrer, 26 - rocked the house with songs from their "So Together" CD. But Danay also received cheers when she told the students that they should have a good sense of themselves.
"Be confident and stick to your beliefs," she told the Bristol Township teen-agers.
Britney Spears started with Innosense before she achieved fame on her own. Dream was discovered and is managed by Sean "Puffy" Combs' record label, Bad Boy Entertainment.

From A Fan
Article by Lark McCarthy
I am a huge fan of Innosense, so I was super excited to find out that the mall tour they are on was going to be at a mall in Southern California (Northridge Fashion Plaza) on September 20th. I made sure to get there early. When I arrived there was already a good size crowd waiting by the stage. While the crowd waited, an MC played some games with everyone to get the hyped for the show...then finally it was time go get the show started. At 6pm Melissa, Holly, Diana, and Ashley AKA DREAM took the stage. They got the crowd hyped up while singing four awesome songs including their hit single "He loves you not"; which had everyone singing along. They had awesome dance moves, and their singing ability was amazing, these girls know how to perform!! The crowd at this point was ready for Innosense, as was I!!
About 10 min. after DREAM left the stage the girls of Innosense hit the stage. These girls displayed a mountain of energy from the second they step on that stage until they left!! They did some wonderfully performed songs including; "www.fan-ta-see","ride", "say no more", "this is it" and one more (the name escapes me at the moment but it was a great dance tune!) The girls are truly pro's! The dancing was amazing and their vocal ability was off the hook!! These girls are singers at heart. After the show it was announced that DREAM and INNOSENSE were going to be signing autographs; so everyone lined up for their chance to meet the girls. All the girls were extremely sweet, and happily signed anything you handed them, they took pictures with their fans and talked with each person who came through the line. It was an awesome show, and I wish both these groups continued success!

ROCK THE MALL
Innosense and Dream
Pop sensations stage free concerts in first annual Rock The Mall tour. Teens across the country get a chance to hear hot new recording artists in concert at local malls.
New York, NY, September 20, 2000 -- This back-to-school season, General Growth Properties is joining Pepsi and BMG Entertainment to host Rock the Mall, a teen sweepstakes and mall tour marketing campaign. BMG labels RCA Music Group and Arista Records will bring the music, with their respective hot new bands Innosense and Dream headlining the tour.
Innosense is made up of five talented young girls who are breaking across the nation with their new album, So Together. This hot new group's manager is none other than the mother of Justin Timberlake, of N'Sync fame. Innosense's most famous past member is Britney Spears, who left the band to go solo in 1998. Also star-connected, the new group Dream was discovered and is now managed by Sean "Puffy" Comb's record label Bad Boy Entertainment. Dream's first single "He Loves U Not," from their upcoming album, It Was All A Dream, is currently the hottest breaking single at radio and video stations nationwide. Their highly anticipated debut album is due in stores in January 2000.
Starting September 20, teens in 10 top metro market malls will have the chance to hear Innosense and Dream in concert, with full sound, lighting and stage adding to the excitement. To add to the fun, sponsors Pepsi, Kellogg's Rice Krispie Treats, Sam Goody, M2 Card, and teen charity Do Something will host booths where they will sample and give away prizes. Do Something, a group started by actor Andrew Shue, is dedicated to creating a nationwide network of young people who know they can make a difference in their communities and take action to change the world around them. Presenting sponsor Pepsi will run games including a one-on-one hoops game and fun prize give-away wheel.
"BMG is pleased to partner with General Growth Properties and Pepsi on this exciting program combining major market mall events with a school tour which will serve to bring our artists closer to consumer," said Scott Richman, Vice President, Partnership Marketing, BMG Entertainment. "Rock the Mall is an example of BMG and our labels' commitment to building awareness for our artists through partnerships with leading consumer brands."
Seventy-seven General Growth Properties malls will also provide teens with the opportunity to win a shopping spree and shop with these young stars by participating in a teen retailer sweepstakes. With every purchase, teens will receive a scratch-and-win game card featuring prizes from RCA Music Group, Arista Records, Sam Goody, and Pepsi.
Not only does Do Something reach teens in the mall, but in their schools as well. In 20 local high schools and middle schools, Innosense and Dream will deliver a positive message to teens on the importance of being involved and volunteering in one's community. After the assemblies, Innosense and Dream will invite teens to visit their local mall to see the bands Rock the Mall live.
