“Yeah, sure. Girl, do you have any idea how many times I’ve heard those words from your mouth?” sighed Cassie while shaking her head at her best friend.
“Jaz, I know how you are. Especially when it comes to guys. It’s all hunky-dory now, but once someone you think is better comes along, you drop the poor boy.”
“I would never do that to Jason. I love him too much. I’ve never loved anyone until I met him.”
Still skeptical of her friend’s statement, Cassie shook her head and kept her eyes on the road. Even though they’ve been friends since they were running around in diapers, there were just some things about Jasmine Cassie could not understand. How was she able to fall in love so quickly? She was able to bounce back from broken hearts and find herself someone new in a matter of weeks. Glancing over her friend, Cassie noticed something different about her. She seemed to be glowing with happiness. Looking back at the road, she started to wonder what love really was.
Cassie has been with Nick for years. Three years, two months, and twenty-six days to be exact. She could not picture life without him. Hell, she couldn’t remember what life was like without him. They had always told each other those three sacred words. Even though she wasn’t too sure if those words came from her heart, she knew she must have meant them at one time.
She didn’t ever remember feeling the way her friend had described. Butterflies in her stomach, tingling all over her body just hearing his voice, or even the way her heart would skip flutter with one look at him.
What kind of shit was her friend on?
But, the sinking feeling came back with thoughts of Nick. She just had a feeling, well, more like a strong intuition that their relationship was coming to a close. They’ve talked about marriage, where they would live, and how many children they wanted. She never told him that she couldn’t picture herself married to him, even though they practically were headed in that direction. It made her wonder why she was with him. He didn’t have any personal goals in his life. He didn’t know what he wanted to do or where he wanted to go. She had no clue what kind if future she had in store for herself if she stayed with her boyfriend.
Here she was, twenty-two years old and one semester from receiving her degree. Would she be the one who would have to support their family? Never in her mind was that how she thought her future would be. She wanted to help support her future family, but she didn’t want to be the only one to carry everyone’s financial problems. Was this the direction she really wanted to head?
“Hello Cassie? You there?” said Jasmine waving a hand in front of her friend’s face while keeping the other on the steering wheel.
“Sorry. I guess I kind of zoned for a little while,” replied Cassie.
“I was starting to wonder about you cuse you got all silent on me.”
“Do you really love this guy Jason? How do you know that you truly love him?” asked Cassie.
“Wow. Is this about you and Nick? Are you two having problems again?” Cassie sighed, “I don’t know if I should be with him. Sometimes he can be just the sweetest. But those other times he just irritates the shit out of me. I just want to strangle him or something. I don’t know how much longer this is going to last.”
“But you’ve been with him for so long. You see him all the time and when you’re not with him in person, you’re talking to him on the phone. I just always figured through good times and crap times you and Nick would always be together.”
“Yeah, I know all of this already. I just need to figure out what I’m going to do. But not tonight, okay? Tonight it’s going to be just us--and the hordes of guys that want to bump and shake their booty with ours.
They both laughed while Jasmine parked her SUV in the crowded lot. “Make-up check!” they said in unison while pulling down the sun visors to make sure their faces were in place. Both girls got out of the car, linked arms, and headed towards the bumping sounds.
Together, not one single guy stood a chance with them. Cassie had her tight, red, leather pants with a white top that clung to her breasts and enhanced the curves she had. Not to mention the neckline was just enough to tease the drooling men with a little something they would never see in its entirety. Jasmine was dressed to kill. She had on a black micro mini with knee high boots to match. Her top was a little backless number that clung to her body with the help of a few tiny elastic straps. They were definitely ready to go to war. As they stepped into the club, they were able to smell the smoke and the stench of hot, sweaty bodies reeked throughout the room.
“Crap,” Jasmine whispered loudly to her friend. “It always takes me forever and a half to get rid of this smell from my hair!”
“Don’t worry about it,” said Cassie reassuringly. “By the end of the night, your hair will be the last thing on your mind.”
Jasmine let her eyes wander around the room. She spotted some fine-looking fellas and gave them a shy smile with a wave. “Girl, you’re right. Let’s make this a night we’ll never forget. Get drunk off our ass, dance with a few nameless faces, and then return home to our awaiting honies.”
“Sounds like a plan,” agreed Cassie. They slowly made their way around the club, checking out their prey for the night.
