So, you want to volunteer on a kibbutz, do ya? Well, here's what I know. The first place to contact is the Kibbutz Program Center. Their contact information is as follows:
Address: 18 Frishman St., Tel Aviv Alternatively, you could contact a kibbutz representative in your country. A list of reps by country can be found here. I think that's actually the preferred way to go, since beginning the registration process in your own country will reduce the hassle and wait you have to go through once you actually get to Israel. In other words, you'll be able to get right on with the fun.
And Ein Gedi? Last I heard they weren't taking any more volunteers. Apparently the political situation really affected the tourism industry there and they can't take in volunteers at the moment, certainly not 60-70 volunteers at a time like they were doing in 2000.
For more information about kibbutz volunteering, check out John Carson's website at http://www.kibbutzvolunteer.com. There's also a book about kibbutz volunteering called (...drumroll please...) "Kibbutz Volunteer".
