Interpretation of Koran

Momin

Surah 3: Ale-Imran

3: 1-2 – Allah, the Wise and the Knowing, has said: “Allah is the sole Authority in the universe, the Self-Subsisting and Eternal.”

3: 3 – He has revealed you this (book) which is based on truth and validates the previous revelations – the Torah and the Bible – and differentiates between right and wrong.

3: 4-5 – Surely, those who reject this Divine Code shall suffer grievously in accordance with Allah's Law of Mukafat, which no one can escape from. There is nothing hidden from Allah in this universe.

3: 6 – He (is the One) Who shapes you in your mother's womb according to His Law of Mashiyat. He is Almighty and Wise.

3: 7 – Allah has revealed this book to you. In it there are two kinds of verses:

  1. those verses which constitute for the foundational laws of an Islamic System,
  2. and the figurative verse that explain the abstract reality, metaphorically.

Those who intend to deviate from Allah's Path, take the figurative verses in their literal meaning, hence, creating frictions with their own interpretations. Remember, Allah knows the essence of realities which these verses represent. Those who have the right approach to the knowledge also understand the realities (in these verses) and their significances. These are the people with understanding.

3: 8-10 – (Their entreaty is) “O Allay! Having ascertained the right course, may we stay steadfastly on it. Provide us the means to develop ourselves. You alone are the capable of doing this. We can see that at the moment the humanity is split, but ultimately the mankind will be united by following you immutable Divine Code – for, Allah never fails to fulfill His pledge. (Whilst) those who reject the Divine Laws, neither their wealth nor offspring shall avail them. Their end will be baleful.”

3: 11 – (Thos who reject the Divine Laws, their plight will be like) the followers of Pharaoh and the people before them, who had rejected these laws and suffered grievously. Allah's Laws are severe in punishment.

3: 12 – Warn those who oppose this system that they will be subdued eventually and would be driven to a Jahannam which is an abject abode.

3: 13 – There was the sign for you (e.g. in the war of the Badar) when the two forces confronted – one fighting for the path of Allah and the other opposing it. The opposing forces were much greater but since the Momenin were strengthened by Eman they felt the enemy was twice their number. They were confident of their success and they won. Those who desire the help from Allah, they are help in this way which is obtained by following His Laws. This incident clearly indicates that truth always prevails, for people with insight.

3: 14 – For those whose objective are only secular; their thirst is for the pleasures derived from women and children, treasures of gold and silver, horses, cattle and harvest. Tell them these are only the comforts of this life (no the ultimate goal of life). Ultimate goal (of life is to strive for the development of the human self which) is only obtained by following the path prescribed by Allah.

3: 15 – Inform them of what is better than this. It is the life of evergreen fields (meaning enough food always available), rivers flowing (with enough water for everyone) and comfortable living and honest companionship. These are the gains of following Allah's Laws. And Allah can see in the hearts of all (people that they desire for this).

3: 16 – Those who pray, “Our Rab we have complete faith in your Laws. If we falter, we seek protection from the ill-effects, they might bring, and keep us safe from the suffering of the fire.”

3: 17 – These are the people who face troubles with patience, who show their Eman with their actions, who follow Allah’s Laws with humbleness and who spend their wealth for the cause of Islamic Society. Before they initiate any programme they ensure that they have sufficient resources and means of protection (from the enemy and also to feel safe and comfortable in their hearts).

3: 18 – Allah is the sole authority in the universe which is evident by the  and the first evidence is the correct concept of Allah Himself, subsequently the evidence is evident by all the celestial force, whose (harmonious) labors confirm that the entire universe is controlled by One and follow One Supreme Law. Also, those who use knowledge, establish an Order based on equity and justice, their society is a living proof of Allah's Authority. All these commendations lead to the ultimate truth that there is only one supreme authority and it is Allah and the harmony of the entire universe is because of His Might and Cogency.

3: 19 – This is Islam – only Deen stipulated by Allah for the human kind. It was the one revealed to earlier rasool but their followers created disparities (mainly because of) jealousies and egos. After that they had to follow the bad consequences of their actions. As it is such that whoever strays from Allah's course, Allah's Law is quick in calling them into account.

3: 20 – Those who argue with you, tell them, “I completely surrender to it and so do those who follow me.” And ask the Ahl-e-Kitab and those who have not received any Divine Book before, “Do you also surrender to this?” If they do then they will be considered as following the right course. Conversely if they turn back then (do remember) you will not be accountable for them. You have (done your work by) delivering the message. And Allah is aware of what people do.

3: 21 – Those who turn away from Allah's Course, slewed their rasool (which was) unjustly and also slewed those who asked them to enjoin justice, tell them of a painful punishment.

3: 22 – These people are the ones whose actions in this world and the next will bear no fruit and there will be no one to help them.

3: 23 – Have you noticed these Ahl-e-Kitab? They were given a part of the Divine Laws. Now that they are invited to the Koran which encompasses the complete set of Divine Laws which are able to resolve the differences, a group in them rises up against it and intend to remain indifferent to it.

3: 24 – Reason behind this being, they think that the fire of Jahannam will not them but for a few days. It is just their wishful thinking – consequence of their false beliefs and delusion from the true concept of Deen.

3: 25 – But this self-deception cannot save them from the day for which there is no doubt. At that day, everyone will get exactly for what he has worked for and no one will be dealt with unjustly.

3: 26 – Tell them that no nation is favorite of Allah. All are dealt with in accordance with His Laws, according to which everyone gets what he has worked for [53: 39]. Status and position is also determined according to one's actions [46: 19]. Whosoever contravenes them deprive them of authority and grace. Allah has laid down these laws to regulate everything and this is for the good of humanity.

3: 27 – The universe presents the proof of harmony and inexorableness of Allah's Laws. As an example take a look at day and night succeeding each other, emergence of life from inanimate matter, death of living beings, and the way everything in the universe receives its nourishment which is beyond any measures.

3: 28 – It is not appropriate for Momenin to take Kaferin into confidence (because clearly the two strive for different ideologies). Momenin should only befriend other Momenin. And whoever allies with the opposite group will have nothing to do with Allah's Order. Rather, you should be very careful and should stay on guard against them. You must follow the Divine Laws for they are the ultimate sanctuary and destination.

3: 29 – Tell (them) that it is wrong and unjust to express something which is different from what is in your heart. And (even if you do, do know that) nothing remains hidden from Allah. Allah knows all that is in heavens and on earth and Allah posses absolute control over everything.

3: 30 – At the day of Reckoning, everyone will be confronted by all his deeds. At that time he will wish to be taken far away from the consequences of his ill-deeds. This is the (specific) reason that Allah warns you to be cautious of his Law of Mukafat. This warning reflects the kindness of Allah.

3: 31 – Tell (them), “If you really desire to establish the Islamic Society then you should follow me (and Allah's Laws). This way you will be defended against the ill-effects innuendos made about you and (you will) also receive means of nourishment and development.”

3: 32 – Tell (them), “The practical way of establishing the Islamic Society is by complete obedience to the Laws of Allah, not individually but collectively – the central authority of which is the rasool whose decisions are in accordance with the Laws of Allah and are to be obeyed. If you turn away from this course you will be considered among the Kaferin.”

3: 33 – The Islamic Society was established in the times of Adam and Noah (Nuh) and the house of Abraham (Ibrahim) and the descendents of Imran. Because of this they rose above the rest of the human kind.

3: 34 – (Don't forget) all of them were the descendants of one another. (Remember) this all did not happen informally but was in harmony with the laws of Allah. And Allah hears and knows all.

3: 35 – (Remember) when a women from Ale-Imran pledged to devote her expected child for the service of Allah. She prayed, “O my Lord! Accept my offering. Surely you are All Hearing and All Knowing.”

3: 36 – She gave birth to a girl, after which the thought arose that in order to cater for her pledge it would have been better if she had given birth to a boy. But Allah knew that this girl would do what a boy could not do. She named her Mary (Marium) and prayed to Allah to defend her and her offspring from the Shaetan – the accursed.

3: 37 – Allah accepted the offering graciously. Mary was committed to the care of Zachariah (Zakria). She grew up to be a person of elegance and grace. Because of her piety she began to receive various kinds of offerings. Whenever Zachariah visited Mary at the sanctuary, he found offerings besides her. He would ask her, “O Mary! Where did these come?” She would reply, “These have been brought by the people in the name of Allah, who bestows livelihood without any measure.”

3: 38 – Then Zachariah (also) prayed to Allah, “O my Lord! Grant me from your Grace a righteous offspring. Surely you hear all prayers.”

3: 39 – While he was praying in the sanctuary, the Malaikah called to him, “Allah gives you good news of the birth of Yahyah (John), who will testify to Divine Code. He will be honorable and chaste and a rasool amongst the Salehin.”

3: 40 – He wondered, “How can I have a child when I am already this old age has and my spouse is barren?” (He was wondering if the child will be an adopted child). He was replied, “No the child will be your own.” [see 21: 90] Allah said it would be like that as Allah knows what he wills.

3: 41 – He asked, “O my Lord! Tell me if there is any special instruction for me to follow. Allah replied, “You should not speak with others for three days, except by means of signs, and stay on the course of Allah's Laws. Other than this, carry on with your daily routines in the normal fashion.”

3: 42 – And Zachariah sent Mary the message, “O Mary! Allah has chosen you for a grand plan. You will have a life of purity and will have eminence over all the women.

3: 43 – “O Mary! Be devoted to Allah and continue to comply with Divine Laws, just as other people do.”

3: 44 – (Zachariah had to talk to Mary because her worries were not baseless as) a number of priests were trying to take her under their charge. The dispute had become so growling that they had to resort to drawing lots to resolve the matter.

These are the things which are being told to you through revelation otherwise you were neither present at the time when the lots were being drawn nor when they quarreled with one another.

3: 45 – Mary was also given the good with a Word from Him about the birth of a son according to his laws. The son's name would be Messiah – Jesus (Isa) – son of Mary. He would be regarded both in this world and Hereafter. And would be devoted to Allah.

3: 46 – He would preach to the people form an early age to an old age and would be from amongst those who possess exalted qualities.

3: 47 – Mary asked, “O my Lord! How can I have a son when no man has touched me?” The answer was (the same that had been given to Zachariah [see 3: 40]) that the child will be born in accordance with Allah's Law of creation. And when Allah makes a decision about something the process is initiated at once.

3: 48 – And Allah will give him the Book based on wisdom and reveal to him the knowledge of Torah (Torat) and Bible (Injil).

3: 49 – And he will be sent as a rasool to the children of Israel. He will say, “I bring to you a life-giving message from your Rab. With the help of this revelation I will blow into you a new life so that you can rise above the low levels you have fallen to and be able to soar high in the skies. In all this, is a message for you but if you trust in it.

At present you are visionless. Through this revelation you will get a sight so that you can follow the Divine Course.

At present fields of your activities are lifeless and yield nothing. Through this revelation they will become green and fecund. Your degraded character because of which others avoid you, will also be removed.

Thus your ongoing death-like state of life which is full of disgrace and debasement will be changed into a news life.

I will establish an economic system (which will replace your present economic system) which will help in keeping an eye on you to see how much of life's necessities you utilize and how much you hoard in order to bring back unlawful profit from it.

The changes which I am bringing serve as a evident of my being a rasool.”

3: 50 – And (Jesus said), “(The laws in the Bible) it validates what has been said before in Torah and to make lawful onto you the things which had been forbidden to you (earlier). And I have come to you with the message from your Rab, so always abide by the Divine Laws and follow me.”

3: 51 – “Surely Allah is my Sustainer and yours, whose (laws) alone should be followed upon. This (alone) is the right course which leads to your destination.”

3: 52 – But when Jesus was opposed (by the priests and he noticed their attentions to be dangerous) he asked his followers, “Who desire to be my helper in the way of Allah?” The followers replied, “We will be your helpers. We believe in Allah, and you will be our witness to see how we propound at the Divine Laws.”

3: 53 – (They prayed to Allah), “Our Lord! We believe in what you have disclosed and we would follow your Nabi. Count us in those lives are a living evidence of the truthfulness of the Divine Code.”

3: 54 – (Those who opposed Jesus) plotted against him, secretly. Allah on the other hand engineered a means to defend him. And certainly His plans are the best.

3: 55 – (And do know) when Allah said, “O Jesus! You will fulfill your assignment and die a natural death. You will be exalted. I will absolve you to the allegations made against you and take you far away from the clutch of these plotters. At the moment your followers appear to be weak, but eventually they will overcome their enemies and remain victorious for a long time.

Keep this in the mind that such disputes and confrontations are eventually settled according to My Law of Mukafat.”

3: 56 – According to this law (of Mukafat) those who reject the truth would face chaste both in this world and the Hereafter and no one can save them from this.

3: 57 – And as for those who accept the truth and labor for its establishment will be fully rewarded. And Allah does not like zalemin.

3: 58 – These are the historical records and Laws which have been revealed to you by Allah O Rasool.

3: 59 – (Do know) the birth of Jesus is like the birth of any other human being. Life emerged from inanimate objects and passing through the evolutionary stages whose zenith was the modern human.

3: 60 – This [see 3: 59] is the truth from Allah and there cannot be any doubt or dispute in this matter.

3: 61 – If anyone disputes with you in this matter after so clear arguments then say, “It is not our way to waste time on futile disputes. We go our way and you follow your own way. We should not interfere in each other's and the results will show who is deprived of Allah's Benedictions.”

3: 62 – Surely this is the true explanation because what you have been told is based on truth and is from Allah who is the Supreme Authority and whose power is blended with Wisdom.

3: 63 – But if they still dispute with you then Allah's Law of Mukafat will deal with them.

3: 64 – Tell (them), “O Ahl-e-Kitab! Leave these subsidiary matters aside and reflect on the fundamentals on which you show to pose, though superficially. These fundamental (are categorized as):

  1. The authority of only Allah should be accepted.
  2. No one should be put as equal (and partner) to Allah.
  3. No human being should be considered as a possessor of Divine Authority (i.e. considered to be above other humans).”

If they accept these fundamentals then it is good. And if they do not then tell them, “You follow whatever course you choose but keep in mind that we follow only Allah's Laws.”

3: 65 – Ask, “O Ahl-e-Kitab! Why do you dispute if Abraham followed Torah or Bible? You do not even know that these books were revealed after his time. ”

3: 66 – “Strange! You used to argue about the matters you at least had some knowledge of but how bizarre it is now, that you are arguing about the matter you have no knowledge about. It is only Allah who knows and you do not know.”

3: 67 – “(Do remember that) Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. He was a true Muslim. He only followed Allah and did not associate anyone with him.”

3: 68 – Surely those who followed Abraham were close to him (and they were neither Jews nor Christians). And now this Rasool and the Momenin are close to him because they follow the same course. And (remember) Allah is the friend of momenin who protects them (when in need of because the momenin keep on following Allah's Laws even when in trouble).

3: 69 – A group of Ahl-e-Kitab want to come at a compromise with you which will mean deviating from the right course. These people are self-decieved and do not realize that those who accept the truth cannot compromise.

3: 70 – (Ask them) “O Ahl-e-Kitab! Why do you continue to deny Allah's Laws after that you have seen so much evidence which testifies to them?”

3: 71 – (Ask them) “O Ahl-e-Kitab! Why do you confound the truth with falsehood and intently conceal the truth.”

3: 72 – And another group of Ahl-e-Kitab resort to another subversive technique. They ask their people, “Join the Muslims at the dawn pretending to be believers and then leave them at the dusk. During this time period engage in arguments which would create senseless doubts in the minds of Muslims and may be this way some Muslims recant their Eman.”

3: 73 -74 – They push their people telling them, “Talk to the momenin but accept only what is said by those who follow your own course. And do not even doubt that what you are following is in anyway even comparable to anyone else's. And do remember that any plea made by your opponents will not prevail in front of Allah. And tell them:

  1. The right course is the one revealed by Allah.
  2. And revelation is a benediction from Allah which He discloses on whosoever He chooses.

For Allah is All-Embracing and on the basis of His infinite knowledge He chooses the one who is most suitable to receive the revelation and Allah is boundless in His benedictions.”

3: 75 – And amongst the Ahl-e-Kitab there are some who would return a treasure if you would entrust them with it and there are also some who would not give back a dinar if you would entrust them with it except if you press on with your demand. The justification advocated by them for their action is that whatever done to non-Ahl-e-Kitab is permissible. This all is a lie finagled upon Allah whilst they know that Allah's Law requires them to keep their pledges.

3: 76 – (Do remember) that pledges made amongst you are in fact made with Allah and He likes those who stay on the course of his Laws.

3: 77 – (As for) those who violate the trusts may get some material gains but (be sure) they will not have any portion of Allah's blessings in the Hereafter and Allah will not speak to them at the Day of Judgment nor will He speak to them much less pardon them and they will receive severe punishment.

3: 78 – There is (another) group among them who mix their own created verses with Allah's Laws dictated in His Book in such a way that the two become indistinguishable. And (then) they say that these laws are from Allah, whence in reality they are not from Allah and intently they finagle a lie upon Allah.

3: 79 – (It is the fundamental principle of Islam that all humans are equal, therefore even) if Allah gives His Divine Code to a human or the power to enforce it or even Nabovat he does not have the right to order others, “You have to follow me rather than Allah.” What he should say is, “You should be the ones who are near to Allah by following his Book which you study and teach to others.”

3: 80 – Neither will he tell others to worship Malaekah nor their rasool. (Also) a momin will never do so. Do you (really think) that after he has himself believed he would order others to recourse to Kufr?

3: 81 – And (remember) when Allah made a covenant through (all previous) rasool that when the last Rasool will come validating the claims and promises made in their Books they will not only accept him but also help him.

Allah asked them, “Are you aware that you are accepting the bond on these terms?” They replied, “We are.” Then Allah said, “Be witness to this (covenant) and I will also be a witness along with you.”

3: 82 – (And it was made clear that) whosoever turns back would be counted amongst those who have deserted the right course.

3: 83 – Do they seek for a Deen (a system of governing and social laws) which is other than this? Can't they see that everything in the universe obeys only the Laws of Allah, and willingly or unwillingly they will have to stand in front of Allah in the end?

3: 84 – Say, “We believe in Allah and in that which he has revealed to us, and in that which was disclosed to Abraham, Ismael, Isaac and Jacob (Yakoob) and their descendants and what was revealed to Moses, Jesus and the other rasool from their Rab. Also we do not make any distinction amongst them and we only follow the course prescribed by Allah.”

3: 85 – This is Islam – and anyone adopting a course besides this will not be accepted and ultimately he will be the losers.

3: 86 – Those who acknowledged their Eman and their rasool has established the Islamic Society which is the living testament to the truth and after (all this) if they turn towards the course of kufr, then who can guide them?

And Allah's Laws are such that the zalemin cannot be addressed to receive His Guidance.

3: 87 – These (kind of) people [see 3: 86] will not receive any blessings of Allah nor will they have the support of Malaekah and the righteous people.

3: 88-89 – They will stay in such a state without any respite, until they give up the wrong course and make amends for their deeds. And if they do so, then surely Allah will defend them and provide them required sources of nourishment.

3: 90 – If they continue to follow the wrong course implying that their repentance is just a verbal ceremony then they will surely never reach the right goal.

3: 91 – For sure, those who never accepted the truth and died in the state of the kufr can not escape from their punishment even if (somehow) they (can) offer the treasures of (the entire) earth to redeem themselves. No one will be able to help them.

3: 92 – By no means can you achieve the true freedom of Self unless you keep open (the resources) to fulfill the necessities of others from what you cherish greatly. And whatever you spend, surely Allah knows about it.

3: 93 – (There were certain items which Jacob had denied to himself may that be medical reasons or others.) The Jews included as prohibitions in their dietary laws even though this was not a Divine Decree. Ask them, if they are true then bring the Torah and read it out.

3: 94 – Then after this (failure), if they keep on foisting lies against Allah they will be the mushrekin.

3: 95 – Say, “Allah has disclosed the truth so follow this course, the course followed by Abraham the Hanif. (Remember) he was not one of the mushrekin.

3: 96 – For sure the first house ever to be select for the entire humanity was Mecca (Makkah). It was from this place the humanity was destined to get the guidance and the fundamental Law which would ensure the stability and nourishment for all.

3: 97 – This design is very clear. Additionally this was also the center from where Abraham achieved the glorious footing as the leader of the humanity. This best quality of this center is that whosoever enters it would get all round peace and security. And all those who can assemble there must do so. This way they can see for themselves the true benefits of the system of which this is the center [see 22: 28]. However they should keep in mind that their objective should not be selfish for the establishment of the Islamic Society. These are but the few aims of this center and whosoever rejects this Divine Decree will only harm himself because Allah is Self-Sufficient, beyond any need of anything worldly.

3: 98 – Ask the Ahl-e-Kitab, “Why do you reject such a beneficial set of laws (for a society)? And do know that Allah sees all what you do.”

3: 99 – Ask the Ahl-e-Kibar, “Why do you hinder those who wish to follow the course prescribed by Allah? Not only this, but you also try to make the straight course of Deen appear to be crooked, when you yourself have seen it to be the correct course. Allah knows all what you do.”

3: 100 – O momenin! If you start following any group of these Ahl-e-Kitab, this will turn you towards kufr.

3: 101 – But how can you return to kufr (after professing Eman)? To stay steadfast on the course of Eman, two principles are indispensable:

  1. The book of Allah in its unaltered form,
  2. and a living authority to implement (the laws in) it.

You have both, the Koran and the rasool. (Now) whoever stays steadfast to this (Islamic Order) will be guided to the right destination.

3: 102 – O momenin! Follow this system of laws as it should be followed throughout your lives.

3: 103 – And all of you should hold fast to this Code together and you should not be divided into sects and groups. Remember Allah's Benediction when he brought you together when you were at each other's throats (so-close that you called each others brothers). This strong brotherhood was formed on a strong ideology which was the great blessing. Before this (ideology) you were standing at the edge of fire and He pulled you away from this. This is the way Allah makes His Directives clear so that you might choose the right course.

3: 104 – And (for the establishment of this order) there should be a jamat (ummah) amongst you who calls to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong (according to Koran). This is the way you will be prosperous.

3: 105 – And be not like those who fell into factions and different amongst themselves even when clear guidance had come to them. For them there is a grievous chastisement.

3: 106 – There will be two types of people at the Day of Judgment. First one will be those whose faces will be bright and the second group whose faces will be dark. Those whose faces are dark, the reason they will be told is that they had discarded what they had believed in and should reap for what they sow.

3: 107 – As to those who have bright faces they will have Allah's blessings and will enjoy a happy life.

3: 108 – These are the communications of Allah based on truth. Had it not been given to the mankind it would have been a zulm which is not what Allah does to his creatures.

3: 109 – And Allah's Law (is not only for mankind but it) encompasses whatever is in the heavens and the earth. And it is because of this universality (of the law) that everything is busily headed towards its ultimate goal.

3: 110 – You duty is not only to follow Allah's Laws yourself but you are raised as an Ummah for the good of all the mankind. Your duty includes enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong by the Koran. If the Ahl-e-Kitab had followed in this way it would surely have been better for them. Some of them (did) follow this way but most of them strayed.

3: 111 – (Those who stray) they can not harm you other than a trifling harm. (Even) if they fight with you they will turn their backs upon you and they will not be helped (by anyone).

3: 112 – A life of misery and ignominy they are abiding in. they have no abode in this world and (just as well) no shelter, except when someone regarding them as Ahl-e-Kitab gives a shelter or when they are in a treaty with some. Otherwise their condition was that they were living in a life of humiliation. The reason that they had continuously rejected the truth of Allah's Guidance and have transgressed to such an extent that they have even killed the rasool (which is completely) unjust. (And) all this because they transgressed going beyond the limits prescribed.

3: 113 – They are not all alike. Amongst these Ahl-e-Kitab there are those who have embraced Islam and recite (or spread) Allah's message during the night, wholeheartedly.

3: 114 – They believe in Allah and the Day of Judgment and they enjoin what Koran recognizes to be right and forbids what it considers to be wrong. They wholeheartedly work for the betterment of the mankind. These are the ones who are called salehin.

3: 115 – And whatever good they do nothing of it will go unacknowledged. And Allah is well aware of (who are) the mutakin.

3: 116 – As for those who do not follow this course, neither their children nor possessions will be of any advantage to them against Allah and it is they who headed for the fire, abiding therein (forever).

3: 117 – The likeliness of these people spending for a worldly life is that of a freezing wind which batters and destroy an entire harvest because they did not make proper arrangements for its protection. (Remember) Allah did not perpetrate any zulm on them for it is they who brought this upon themselves.

3: 118 – O Momenin! Do not take in confidence those who are outside your circle. Because they will not miss any chance to inflict harm upon you. They gloat over your distress. Some of their enmity is articulated. But what they conceal in their hearts is even more harmful. We have told you all this very clearly only if you would reflect upon it.

3: 119 – Lo! You befriend them but they do not befriend you even though you believe in all the scriptures. When they are amongst you they declare, “We also believe,” but when they are by themselves they go wild with rage. Tell them, “Perish in your rage. Allah knows very well what is going in your minds.”

3: 120 – If good befalls you it grieves them and they rejoice if anything afflicts you. If you remain steadfast to the course prescribed by Allah their conspiracies will not harm you and Allah's Law of Mukafat will envelop them.

3: 121 – And when you left your home early in the morning to set your forces in position (for the battle of Ohod). For sure Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

3: 122 – (And recall) when two groups from amongst you were on the verge of losing their courage even when they knew they had the support of Allah's System.

3: 123 – And Allah surely helped tem in the battle of Badr even though they were in a miserable condition. Therefore, you should stay steadfast to the Laws of Allah, so that your deeds are fruitful.

3: 124 – When you said to the momenin, “Is it not enough that Allah helps you with three thousand Malaekah who would come down to strengthen your hearts.

3: 125 – (Remember) if the confrontation becomes more severe the strength would be increased to five thousand, who would come swooping down, provided you remain steadfast and adhere to Allah's Laws.

3: 126 – And (do know) that the change in the outward condition of the people depends upon inward change. This inward change is as a consequence of unswerving confidence and trust in the validity of Allah's Laws and is called the help of Malikah in Koran's terminology.

3: 127 – This help will disable a section of your adversaries and they will withdraw from the battlefield, defeated.

3: 128-129 – It is not your concern to decide about their fate personally. The decision will be made according to Allah's Law of Mukafat – the law which is running the entire universe and decides who should be protected and who should be punished. (And) success in a war is defense against oppressive forces.

3: 130 – O momenin! Do not accept an economic system which is based on Riba. You think it incrases the fortune many folds but in reality it is decreased (for the entire society). You should always be careful and follow Allah's Laws and this is the way to prosperity and success.

3: 131 – And guard yourself against the fire which awaits those who reject the truth.

3: 132 – And adhere to the Divine order ascertained by the rasool so that you continue to receive the means of nurture.

3: 133 – Be quick to come under the guidance of your sustenance, which will lead you to the Jannat, encompassing the entire universe and prepared for the mutakin.

3: 134 – They help the needy whether they themselves are affluent or are in strained circumstances. They channel their violent passions into constructive deeds and their deeds are not dependent on how they are treated. Allah likes the mohsenin.

3: 135 – And by mistake if they commit an indecency or a wrong against their own-selves, they immediately turn to the Divine Laws to make amends for the wrong they have done. And who else save Allah's Laws can defend them against the adverse consequences of their wrong doings. And they do not willingly follow a path of wrong actions.

3: 136 – (As for them) there is reward – the protection from their Lord and a blissful life – wherein they will life. How excellent a recompense for those who work for it!

3: 137 – Indeed there are examples for you in the nations before you (who followed man made systems). Do the research and find out for yourselves what has been the end of those systems and the people who upheld them.

3: 138 – This is a downright Manifesto for the humanity and a Guidance and Council for the Mutakin.

3: 139 – And neither loose heart nor be depressed, for you will gain ascendancy, provided that you remain the true believers.

3: 140-141 – If you have suffered a blow then (remember) you enemies had suffered just as well. History will tell you that victories and losses alternate in the life of nations. These trials on the other hand clarify those who truly believe and are sincere to the truth. Those who fail (these sorts of) the tests will not be able to survive.

3: 142 – Do you think that you will gain (the life of) Jannat while you still have to show which of you have struggled hard and have endured steadfastly?

3: 143 – And certainly you desired death before coming face to face with it. And now that you have faced it, you appear to be undecided.

3: 144 – And Muhammad is nothing more than a rasool of Allah. Rasool who were before him have already passed away. Hence, if he dies or is killed will you turn back (from this course) regarding the system to be at its end? Whoever does so will not harm Allah in any way. (But) Allah will reward those who remain firm out of their conviction that the (Islamic) System does not revolve around personalities and will survive for as long as the Book of Allah is followed.

3: 145 – And everyone dies in (accordance of the physical laws of) Allah, which also fix the duration of life. And whoever work only for this world, receives his rewards and those who work for both this world and the Hereafter [see 3: 148] will receive their rewards accordingly. Hence, those who stay steadfast (with this course) will see the fruits (of their labors).

3: 146 – And a great number of rasool fought (in the cause of the Islamic System) alongside their companions. They did not loose heart because of what befell them. Neither were they weaken nor were they give in. They remained steadfast.

3: 147 – And their prayer was, “O Our Rab! Give us protection against our shortcomings or anything excessive in our deeds and make us remain steadfast and help us against our adversaries.”

3: 148 – So Allah gave them the benedictions of this life and an even better reward in the Hereafter because they lived a balanced life.

3: 149 – O Momenin! If you (start to) follow the Kaferin they will turn you back to your old ways and you will become the losers.

3: 150 – Nay! Allah (alone) is your protector and He is the best of helpers.

3: 151 – Those who follow anyone other than Allah, this (path) will create terrors (and doubts) in their hearts (for example of their future, their children, etc.). Allah has not issued any order to do such a thing. And their abode is fire and despicable the abode of zalemin.

3: 152 – And surely Allah's promise was being fulfilled when you were destroying your enemy because you were in accordance with Allah's Laws – that is – until you faltered and started quarrelling amongst yourselves about the orders. Some of you disobeyed the orders (of your commander) being tempted by the material gains of this world but there were those who stood steadfast for they desired the Hereafter. As a result of this your attention turned towards booty, rather than the enemies (on the battleground) and your own worth became visible. However ultimately you were victorious (because you had realized your mistake and turned back) and Allah had pardoned you (because of your repentance). And Allah is Gracious to those who realize their mistake and come back to the right course.

3: 153 – When you were climbing (the hill) you were so flabbergasted that you did not even pay any heed to the calls of your rasool who was calling you form your rear. You were suffering one loss after the other (at that moment. You should learn from this incident that) never on your own leave the assigned job even in extreme adversity, stay steadfast and Allah is aware of what you do.

3: 154 – Then the recovery from the setback brought calmness in the hearts of those who had firm Eman. The munafekin on the other hand indulged into pagan ignorance and flawed doubts against Allah.

These people went so far that they said, “Why should the decision of waging the war be made by one person alone? Why don’t we have a say in it?” Answer them, “These decisions are made in accordance with the laws of Allah. Even if you had not fought in the war, the momenin would have gone for the war without you.”

This way, what was hidden in the hearts of the munafekin was expressed by their actions. And Allah is aware of what is hidden in the hearts.

3: 155 – As for those who faltered on the day when the two armies met, they had not turned away from Eman, but they had misjudged the priorities. Once they realized their wrong and made good (of their actions to minimize any more harm), Allah pardoned them. Surely Allah is Forbearing.

3: 156 – O momenin! Don’t be like those who say about their brethren who had gone on the journey or engaged in the battle, “Had they stayed with us they would not have died and would not have been slain.”

Such a mentality makes one oblivious of the laws of life and death. And Allah sees what you do.

3: 157-158 – And if you are slain in a fight in the way of Allah or you die, surely you will receive a reward greater than all the treasures of the world. Humanity's caravan is proceeding towards its ultimate destination step by step.

3: 159 – Your soft-heartedness is required for the progress of the momenin. Had you been hard-hearted they would have dispersed away from you. Hence, pardon them of their shortcomings and provide them with your protection. Consult them in matters relating to your system and when you have reached at a decision, putting your trust in Allah's Laws you should go ahead and surely Allah loves those who put their trust in His Laws.

3: 160 – If you follow this manner [see 3: 159] then no one can empower you and if you stop following this then there will be no one who could help you. Therefore, you should have confidence in Allah's Laws.

3: 161 – And no doubt in the law can be attributed which has been revealed through a rasool. It is not possible that a rasool would deceive. And (after the establishment of the Islamic Society) those who had changed the revelations their actions and the true revelations will become apparent. Then everyone will be paid in full for whatever he has worked for and no one will be dealt unjustly.

3: 162 – Those who follow Allah's course cannot be regarded as equal to those who do not. Those who do not their destination will be hell and it is a vile destination.

3: 163 – (Those who follow Allah's Course) they will have a very high rank in the evolution of humanity (because) Allah sees what they do.

3: 164 – Surely Allah conferred his blessing on momenin when He raised a rasool from within them who communicated His Laws to them purified and developed their character and taught them the Book and its objectives. Before this they were in the state of ignorance.

3: 165 – (They ask,) "What? Whence was this defeat?" Tell them, "It was brought on by your ownselves. Allah has devised the laws. Whoever adheres to them succeeds and whoever rejects them suffers loss. And the loss you suffered (at Ohod) was in accordance with these laws."

3: 166 – And one good which came out of the defeat was the clear line appearing between the momenin and the munafekin.

3: 167 – And that the munafekin were known when they were asked, “Come with us and fight in the cause of Allah and defend youselves." But they stayed away (from the battle). Now they say, "We were not certain if there will be a war or not. And if we had been sre that there would be a war wee would have surely accompanied you."

These munafekin are liars. They are more towards kufr than towards Eman. What they say is not what is in their hearts. And Allah knows very well what they hide.

3: 168 – Those who stayed away from the battlefield said about those who went for the fight, “Had them accepted our advice they would not have been killed.”

Ask them, “If you think you are true then show me how you can escape death forever."

3: 169 – And do not think of those who have died in the cause of Allah as dead. They are actually alive and are with Allah and well provided with sustenance.

3: 170 – (They are) rejoicing in what Allah has provided them out of His grace and glad that because of their sacrifice those who have been left behind are free of fear and anxiety.

3: 171 – They rejoice at the blessings bestows upon them by Allah. They have seen that Allah's promise to reward the momenin has surely been fulfilled.

3: 172 – (As for) these, they are the ones who responded to the call of Islamic Order even after they had received a setback. Whosoever stays steadfast to Allah's Course will receive excellent rewards.

3: 173 – Those to whom the people said, "Surely enemy has gathered enough strength against you, and hence, you should be fearful."

But this only strengthened their Eman and they said, “For us Allah is enough who is the best protector.

3: 174 – So they returned with bounties and benedictions from Allah without any harm. This is because they followed Allah's Laws who is of Infinite Bounty.

3: 175 – It is only shaetan who causes others to be afraid of his party.

O Momenin! You believe in Allah hence you need not to be afraid of shaetan's group.

3: 176 – And those people who hasten towards kufr, do not let it grieve you. They cannot do any harm to Allah. By there tactics they may get some worthless gains but they will not have any place in the Hereafter. For them grievous chastisement awaits.

3: 177 – Those who have bargained kufr in place of Eman cannot hurt Allah in any way and painful punishment awaits them.

3: 178 – And let not those who disbelieve that respite is beneficial to them. If they do not correct their ways during this time period, the respite will simply add to their torment and as a result their potential will weaken and for them is a disgraceful punishment.

3: 179 – On no account Allah will leave the momenin in this state forever (a state in which a lot of different kinds of people joined the Islamic Movement including the hypocrites). Surely Allah will separate out the Tayeb from the Khabis. He will not disclose to you who is a hypocrite and who is not. He sometimes discloses (somethings) to the rasool but he will not do so with regard to the hypocrites [see 47: 29]. Therefore believe in the Islamic Order and remain steadfast to Allah's Laws. Ultimately you will have a great reward.

3: 180 – And those who confine the means of nurture to themselves and consider this profitable for themselves, those who greedily detain what Allah has given them, tell them that when the System of Rabobiat is established these same things would be cleaved to their necks. They should know that everything in the universe belongs to Allah and no one has the authority to claim its ownership.

3: 181 – Allah has surely heard (your opponents saying), “Your Allah is destitute and we are lavish."

We record what they say and we record what they do (for example) when they killed some of the rasool which is very unjust. Because of this they will face severe punishment.

3: 182 – (They will be told,) "This is what you have prepared with your own hands."

Allah never does any zulm to his devotees.

3: 183 – (Jews are the ones) who say, “Allah has asked us not to believe in anyone's Nabovat until he brings to us 'an offering which is consumed by fire'."

Reply them, “Many rasool before me came with clear signs (including the 'offereing which is consumed by fire'). And according to you they also did what you are asking me to do. But instead of believing them you tried to kill them. If your demands were just then why did you treat your rasools in this manner?”

3: 184 – And if they reject you, then you should not be dishearten. The rasool who came before you, they also had clear arguments, scriptures and illuminating Code of life but they were also dishonored (by these people).

3: 185 – Everyone will taste death and in the Hereafter will be fully rewarded for the deeds carried out in this world. It is a great achievement to be saved from going into Jahannam and succeeding into entering the Jannat. Making the material gains the sole objective of life is like treasuring an illusion.

3: 186 – You will surely have confrontations with your adversaries which will result in the loss of your wealth and lives. You will also come across those who were granted revelation before your time and the mushrekin (and the confrontations) which will be painful on you. If you do not loose your ground and stay put with Allah's Course it will reflect your high determination.

3: 187 – And when Allah made a covenant with those who were given the book that they will make it known to the humanity and will not hide it, they threw it behind their backs. They formulated their own laws (shariat in Islam) because this way they can get petty benefits. What a vile bargain they made!

3: 188 – Do no think that the religious leaders and priests who love self-praise, love to be applauded for what they preach – but do not practice will only get the petty benefits and applauses? In the Hereafter they will have a painful chastisement.

3: 189 – This announcement [see 3: 188] is from Allah whose kingdom consists of heavens and earth and have devised measures for all things.

3: 190 – Lo! In the creation of earth and heavens and the alternation of night and day there are signs for those who (strive to) understand.

3: 191 – These people [see 3: 190] keep Allah's Laws in mind no matter whether they are standing, sitting or lying. After reflecting on the creation of heavens and earth, they irresistibly say, “O our Rab! You have not created this universe in vain or for the destructive proposes. Your purpose for the creation is beyond any flaws. Provide us the insight to understand the working of these things, so that we can benefit from them and stay safe from any distress."

3: 192 – (They pray) "O our Lord! Surely you can make it certain that our efforts in this world are not wasted and those whose efforts are wasted, they lead a fowl life and no one can help the zalemin."

3: 193 – (They pray) "We hear the voice of a sightseer asking us to believe in you and we believe. So our Sustainer, if we falter (from the right course) grant us the protection and remove the ill-effects of our actions. Grant us the friendship of those who have achieved the freedom because they followed your laws."

3: 194 – "O our Sustainer! Grant us all which you pledged us through your rasool and do not disgrace us at the Day of Judgment. We have a firm belief that you will not go back on your pledges."

3: 195 – So their Sustainer accepted their prayer and replied, “Surely I will not put to waste the labor of anyone amongst you be that man or woman, you all are a part of each other. Those of you who migrated or were driven out of their homes or suffered in My Cause and those who fought and gave their lives, they all will be defended against the ill-effects of their shortcomings and will gain a life of gardens where streams (of happiness) flow."

This is the reward from Allah who is the best recompense.

3: 196-197 – Let not the prosperity of your adversaries deceive you. This thing is just like an illusion – for a very small period of time. After this is a Jahannam (of destruction) awaiting them and this is a horrible destiny.

3: 198 – On the other hand those who remain steadfast to Allah's Laws for them are (ever lasting) gardens in which streams (of joyances) flow. They will live in there with a welcome from their Rab. And this is what awaits for those who are indeed righteous.

3: 199 – And surely the Ahl-e-Kitab say that demurred for them but Allah's Law is such that if they believe in Allah in what is revealed to you and what has been disclosed to them and follow only Divine Laws and do not sell Allah's Laws for petty benefits, they will be reward in accordance with their actions. Surely Allah is quick in reckoning.

3: 200 – O Momenin! Be patient and stay steadfast and help others to sand firm and united follow Divine Laws so that you can prospers.
