Interpretation of Koran

Momin

Surah 4: An Nisa

4: 1 – O Humankind! Remain steadfast to the Divine Laws of your Rab who created you from a single life cell, which then split into two, a male and a female part and it was through them that so many men and women originated. And be careful only to follow the System of Rabobiat though which all of your (rights) and requirements would be fulfilled. And (the first step to establish this system is) by your own relatives (and from there you can expand the circle turning it into a community. And if you follow this, you will) surely Allah will watch over you.

4: 2 – And as for those who are left alone in the society (e.g. orphans), if you become their guardian then you should keep their belongings separate from your own. Do not substitute worthless for valuable. Do not devour their property by merging it into yours. This is surely a very big crime.

4: 3 – If a circumstances dictate because of disasters that of war or natural consequences in which a large number of men die with orphans and widows left behind – or you have a large number of women which are of adult (marriageable) age and unable to find husbands [see 4: 127], and as they cannot marry outside the circle of Muslims, hence, if you cannot an equitable solution, then (only then) you are authorized to lapse the law of monogamy and those who can afford it and can manage it to treat all equitably, can marry two or three or four women of their liking. (Again) those who fear that they cannot act justly with more than one wives then only one (wife is better) or the female captives who are already under your charge (because after this the concept of slavery was eliminated by Islam). This course will (also) relieve you from the burden of (dealing with) a large family.

4: 4 – Give your wives their dowries with your free will (because it is their right) and if they opt to forego a part of it willfully (only) then you may expend it as you will.

4: 5 – Those who are immature, have low intellect, they should not be entrusted with the possessions, which Allah has placed in your ownership to support them. Instead you should supply them their livelihood, clothe them, educate them and construe them in a moderate way that why is their wealth is not given in their hands.

4: 6 – And when the orphans under your guardianship have reached the mature age and intellect make over to them their property. Keep this in your mind that you have to return the property of the orphans back to them after that they have matured neither consume it (for yourself) nor expend is extravagantly. For those who have the resources, they should not charge for their guardianship and others may ask for an equitable and affordable charge. The possessions of the orphans should be returned in front of witnesses. And you are accountable to Allah.

4: 7 – men have a share from the heritage their paresnts and nearest relatives have left behind, and (similarly) women also have the share from what their parents and nearest relatives have left whether it is little or a big share. This is their legal right.

4: 8 – And the relatives, orphans or the needy (who have no legal share in the heritance) if they are present at the time of the distribution of the inheritance give them something out of kindness and speak to them gently.

4: 9 – And they should be careful of how they would react if someone after their death was to deal with their helpless dependents unjustly. Hence, they should distribute the wealth in agreement with Allah's Laws and they should speak to them in clear and proper language.

4: 10 – (As for) those who devour the property of orphans, surely they are putting in their bellies nothing but fire which will turn them into ashes.

4: 11 – Allah knows your concerns regarding your children (hence below the laws about inheritance are explained):

  1. Son's portion is equal to the portion of two daughters.
  2. If there are two or more daughters they shall have all-together two-thirds of the inheritance.
  3. If there is only one daughter, her inheritance will be one half of the inheritance.
  4. The mother rand father of the deceased shall each have one-sixth of the inheritance, if has (also) left children.
  5. If the deceased has no children and parents are the only inheritors then his mother will have one-third (and father will inherit two-thirds) of the inheritance. But if he also has brothers or sisters besides his parents then his mother will have one-sixth of the inheritance [also see 12: 3]

(This distribution of inheritance will be carried out) after the completion of deceased's will and paying his debts. (These laws have been made because) you might not know who was closer to the deceased from amongst his parents or children. Surely Allah is All-Knowing and Wise.

4: 12 – And:

  1. And you will have one-half of what your wives leave behind if they had no child but if they left a child then you will have one-fourth of what they left. This is after the fulfillment of deceased's will and paying off the debts.
  2. The wives will have one-fourth from what you leave behind, that is if you have no child. If you have child then they will have the one-eight of what you leave behind. This is after the fulfillment of your will and paying off your debts.
  3. If the deceased has no children and parents and brothers and sisters are the inheritors then [also see 4: 177]; if there is only one brother and one sister, each gets one-sixth of the inheritance, and if there are more than two then together they get one-third of the inheritance. And (remember) this is after the fulfillment of deceased's will and payment of the debts.

The case of inheritance distribution should be in a way that no loss is caused to anybody. This is the law from Allah and Allah is All-Knowing and Forbearing.

4: 13 – These are limits ascertained by Allah. Whoever obeys Allah's System will enter in the garden in which rivers flow and will live there. This is a great accomplishment.

4: 14 – And whoever disobeys Allah's System and goes beyond His limits, they will be entering the fire, therein to abide and will have a life of great chastisement.

4: 15-16 – And as for those women who are guilty of indecency (you should) take (testimony of) four witnesses from amongst yourselves. If they are proven guilty, their movements should be restricted by confining them to their homes for life or until Allah opens out a way for them.

And if two men amongst you are found guilty of the same thing, then they should be punished. But if they repent and make amends then leave them alone. Allah's System has the ability to allow the people for repentance, which is the means for the development.

4: 17 – Repentance is only accepted from those who carry out some wrong deed due to ignorance and (as they realize it) they immediately repent. For (they know) Allah is All-Knowing and Wise.

4: 18 – And (surely) repentance is of no use for those who persist in doing wrong deeds until they are faced with the death. Then they say, “Now we repent.” Indeed these are the people and those who die in the state of kufr who will suffer a painful chastisement.

4: 19 – O Momenin! You cannot marry a woman against her free will and thus becoming their lords instead of their companions. And do not scare them to take back the part of what you have given them (i.e. dower) unless they are clearly guilty of indecency. You should treat them kindly. If you dislike anything about them then do not resolve the matter by immediately separating from them. It might be that what you dislike might actually be beneficial for you (in future).

4: 20 – And if you decide to marry another female in place of your wife and you have given your wife an entire treasure you should not take it back, even a portion of it. To make her give you back a part of the dower you should not falsely accuse her of open wrong.

4: 21 – And how can you do something like that [4: 20] when your wives have taken solemn covenant solemn covenant with you have enjoyed marital relationships with each other?

4: 22 – And do not marry the women whom your fathers had married. What is done is done. But (even then) this was surely a very shameful, improper, and abominable custom.

4: 23 – Prohibited to you to marry are:

  1. Your mothers
  2. Your daughters
  3. Your sisters
  4. Your dad's sisters
  5. Your mother's sisters
  6. Your brother's daughters
  7. Your sister's daughters
  8. Your foster mothers
  9. Your foster sisters
  10. Mothers of your wives
  11. Your step-daughters who have been brought up under your guardianship and are born of the wives with whom you have had marital relations. If you did not have marital relations then the prohibition does not apply.
  12. Wives of your genetic sons
  13. Two sisters at the same time

However (if you have been doing this then) what is done is done. Allah forgives you for the shortcomings but the protection and nourishment of your personality can only be done by following His Laws (and now that you know you are bound to follow His Laws).

4: 24 – And also prohibited to you is marrying the women who are already married but those whom you already possess. This is the law given by Allah.

Except for these women [see 4: 23] you are allowed to marry all other (women) keeping in mind that you pay them their dower and the intention of marriage is to lead a conjugal life not the frugal lust satisfaction. (Again) the dower should be paid, however, by mutual agreement the dower may be changed. And (remember) Allah's Laws are based upon wisdom and knowledge.

4: 25- And whoever amongst you is unable to marry a free momin female then he should opt for a momin women who is captive. If you marry a woman who is captive, then do not treat her as if she is inferior to you. Allah knows all about your Eman and all of you are equals. Mary the captive women with the permission of their custodians and pay them their appropriate dowers. (Again remember) if you marry these women, then this should not be with the intention of frugal lust satisfaction, rather to lead a conjugal life [also see 5: 5]. If these women (who were captive before marriage) are found guilty of adultery after that they have married you then their punishment is one-half of the free believing women.

This authorization to marry captive women is advisable only to those men who dread that they might falter if they stay unmarried, but it is better if they practice continence. And Allah is Forgiving and Rahim.

4: 26 – Allah has explained to you these laws (regarding a family) because these laws are for your own well being. Those (nations) before you who obeyed these laws they had a boonfull life. Allah is All-Knowing and Wise.

4: 27 – These laws are intended so that you might prosper and those who follow (their own course of) lust and indecency, they would also like you to drift away from the right course (and thus both of your will ruin your societies).

4: 28 – These (are the laws which) will lighten your burden (of controlling your emotions, which if uncontrolled result in the destruction of the society after society). Limitations are the basic requirements for controlling the emotions.

4: 29 – O Momenin! Do not devour each other's wealth unlawfuly (by asking for extravagant profits [see 2: 275]). The way should be the trading of mutual consent (where all parties get the rightful pay of the work [see 53: 39]). And if you do not act (and build your society's laws) in accordance of this law then you will destroy yourselves (and your society). Surely Allah is Merciful (that He has revealed to you this law).

4: 30 – And whoever defy this law [4: 29] (know) this will be considered zulm and this casts the entire society into ruins. And this happens (all too-often) very easily.

4: 31 – if you avoid the serious crimes which you are prohibited to carry out, then your society will be saved from chaos and you will head a noble life.

4: 32 – The earning ability of different people is different. Even then everyone should strive to increase the capacity to earn more. Men will have what they earn and women will have whatever they earn. Surely Allah knows all things.

4: 33 – And everyone has his/her prescribed share and in the distribution of this inheritance contractual kin have the precedence over blood relatives. Surely Allah is the witness over all things.

4: 34 – Men have the responsibility for maintaining the women (and their families). Women are given such a comfort so that they can fulfill their responsibilities as women (of the house) apt-fully and can safeguard their potential. After all this if the authorities find defiance on the part of women (i.e. rebellion against the society) then necessary actions have to be taken to correct such behaviors which require admonishing at first and (if they still keep up with their behavior) then temporarily separating them from their husbands or interning. Finally (if they still do not change their behavior) they are to be punished (as decided upon by the appropriate authorities). Allah's Laws should always be obeyed, hence, if these (women) decide to follow (back) Allah's Laws then no action should be taken against them.

4: 35 – and if you fear a breach growing between a couple, then arbitration should be made between the two, consisting of two members. One member will be from husband's side and the other will from the wife's family. If the two desire a settlement then the appropriate reconciliation should be prepared between them. Surely Allah is All-Knowing and aware of everything.

4: 36 – And (in dealing with relatives) only Allah's Laws are to be obeyed (as they are to be obeyed in dealing with husbands and wives). And no man-made laws are to be mixed with these laws. These laws ask you to be good to:

  1. parents,
  2. kin-folk,
  3. orphans,
  4. others in need,
  5. neighbors irrespective of if they are your relative or not,
  6. wayfarers, standing in necessity of your help and,
  7. those in your charge or work under you.

Surely Allah does not like those who are haughty and boastful.

4: 37 –These are the people who endeavor to collect as much wealth (and property) as possible. (Not only this but) they also bid others to do the same and try their best to keep their bounty hidden which is given to them by Allah. For such ungrateful people is a painful chastisement.

4: 38 – And those people who spend just to show off (e.g. giving charity to be famous) and do not believe in Allah and Hereafter. For these people their friends are also shaetan and a dreadful friend they are.

4: 39 – Were these people to believe in Allah and the Hereafter and had spent in the course of Allah instead of for the sake of their own name, what harm would have come to them? (No harm and) surely Allah knows them well.

4: 40 – (Remember) Allah does not lessen even a bit from the compensation given to those who spend in His Course. In reality Allah doubles the compensation of His own accord.

4: 41 – (Ask these hypocrites) what their situation will be when they are confronted by a sitting made of representatives from each party presided by the rasool.

4: 42 – On that day, these people who were bent on denying the truth and paid no attention to the rasool's advice, they would wish that they were leveled to the ground so that their hypocrisy would remain a secret but nothing shall remain concealed from Allah.

4: 43 – O Momenin! Do not come to the (meeting of the) Salat if you are:

  1. with an intoxicated mind and you can understand what you say,
  2. until you have washed yourselves if you had sexual intercourse but when you are not participating and only passing by it.

And if you cannot wash yourselves because:

  1. you are sick, in which case water is harmful to you and,
  2. when you are on a journey or have returned from a call of nature and water is not available to you or you have touched a woman.

In these cases you have clean yourselves using dirt and wipe your hands and face. Such a laxity is provided by Allah who is indulgent and forgiving.

4: 44 – Have you given it a thought, the case of those who were given the part of Divine Laws. These people not only choose the wrong course for themselves but also desire that you deviate from the right course.

4: 45 – And Allah knows who are your enemies but you do not have to be afraid of them. Holding on to Allah's Laws is more than sufficient for you to guard against them and Allah is your helper.

4: 46 – Amongst the Jews there are some who alter the words of their scriptures and when they talk to you, they use homonymous languages. For example instance of saying the word "samena wa atena" (ΣγΪδΗ ζ ΗΨΪδΗ) meaning "we have head what you say and we will follow it" they say "samena sa asena" (ΣγΪδΗ ζ ΪΥیδΗ) meaning "we have heard what you say and we will disobey it."

This all is said here to tell you that they twist their tongues in strange ways to prounouce the words strangely for the sole purpose of taunting (and making fun) of the Deen of Allah.

Had they have well intentions they would have said in clear worlds, “we hear what you say and we will follow it" or “please hear us and pay it due regard."

But (Allah knows) they will not follow this path and hence will deprive themselves of Allah's Benedictions (which are achieved by following Allah's Laws). This is the reason why so few of them have accepted this Deen.

4: 47 – O Ahl-e-Kitab! Believe in what Allah has disclosed and which validates (the claims in) your scriptures, before that there is a confrontation in which you will suffer a crushing defeat and will be defaced beyond recognition in the same way as it happened to the Sabbath breakers. This will certainly happen.

4: 48 – Surely those who accept the authority anyone other than Alah will not be protected by Allah. As for someone who falters by error, for him the possibility exists to be protected from the ill-consequences of his deed.

And (again) anyone who sets up a peer to Allah he has indeed committed a great shirk.

4: 49 – Have you not taken not of those who considered themselves to be very devout and pious? (Do know) Purity and piety can only be obtained by following the Laws of Allah and whoever does so won't loose the effects of even a bit of his labor.

4: 50 – See (those who said otherwise) how they forged lies against Allah. And this (act) in itself is a crime.

4: 51 – Have you not seen (the lives) of those who were given a portion of the (laws in the) book? They followed (their) self-made (laws and) rituals and obeyed the authorities (both humans and idols) which they had set up alongside Allah. (And) they say that the kaferin are better than momenin.

4: 52 – They are the ones who have deprived themselves of Allah's benedictions and these (type of people who deprive themselves from Allah's Blessings) will have no helper.

4: 53 – Or have these people had a share in the worldly power, they would not have shared with their people even a speck in the date stone.

4: 54 – Or are they envious of those on whom Allah has bestowed his Bounties. Allah bestowed on the people of Abraham not only the Divine Code but also wisdom and (by following that) they were bestowed by a large kingdom.

4: 55 – Some of them followed Allah's Laws. And some deviated from this course, thus getting their appropriate dessert of a hell life.

4: 56 – (As for) those who disregard our Laws (inform them) they will be ruined. (As a final try) they will gather all their forces and return to the battle field only to be defeated again. Surely Allah is mighty and wise.

4: 57 – And momenin who follow Allah's Laws, they will obtain a life which will be like gardens in which streams flow and where there is deep shade. They will live in there forever and their partners will be of pure and sublime character.

4: 58 – For sure you need to entrust the authority to those who have the ability of discharging it (if you want to establish the Islamic Order). All decisions have to be just (in accordance with Allah's Laws). This is a very important advice given to you. Surely Allah hears and sees all.

4: 59 – O Momenin! You should obey the system established by the rasool based on Allah's Laws, and obey the (local) authorities appointed by this (Islamic) Order. In case of a dispute with a local officer the appeal can be sent to the order (i.e. the central government). (If you do this then) this will show that you firmly believe in Allah and the Hereafter. This is the best and equitable course of action to be taken to reach a settlement.

4: 60 – Have you seen the people who proclaim that they believe in what has been disclosed to you and what was disclosed before you but their wish that their settlements are made based on the man-made laws and not on the laws of Allah, even though they were asked not to follow any laws other than the Divine Laws. Indeed these people are led astray by following their self-centered feelings.

4: 61 – When it is asked, "You should settler your decisions based on Allah's Laws," the munafekin turn away with aversion.

4: 62 – How will it be when a calamity befalls them, brought on to them by their own deeds? They will come to swearing by Allah that they followed others only because they wanted harmony and peace.

4: 63 – Allah know what they are saying and what is (hidden) in their hearts. They are (nothing but) liars. Keep your circle (and society) clear of them but keep on giving them the advice of right course so that it might reach the hearts (of some of them).

4: 64 – And We sent the rasool with revelations.  (Deen is a practical way of life and) rasool's responsibility is to establish the society (based on the laws of Deen. In the beginning) the obedience to Allah is achieved by obedience to the rasool (who follows nothing but the Divine Code of Life. This can be understood by the example) of those who falter (and commit a mistake and then instead of praying at home) the come to you (and ask for you to show them the way to reduce the ill-effects of the wrong doing).

(The rasool on the other hand does not decide these matters on his own.) He sees the matter in accordance with Allah's Laws and decides accordingly. This is the (correct) process of securing forgiveness from Allah in Deen.

4: 65 – But no! Anyone cannot claim to be Muslim until they consider you to be the judge in their disputes. (Not only this but) after this they do not hold any ill-sentiments in their hearts over the decision you have made (based on Allah's Laws) and subsequently submit to the decision wholeheartedly.

4: 66 – And if they had been asked to leave their homes and go to the battlefield for the cause of Allah, none but few will do so. Had they carried out what Allah had asked it would have been better for them and their Eman would have become firmer.

4: 67 – (Had they followed what Allah had ordered) they would surely have gained the benefits (of following Allah's Path).

4: 68 – And Allah would surely had guided them to the right course.

4: 69 – And whoever obeys the Divine Order they are considered to be in the caravan led by the rasools and (by following Allah's Path) they are bestowed by Allah and they also include those who safe guard their order vigilantly and are salehin. What a good company these people are.

4: 70 – This is the bounty from Allah (which anyone can achieve by following Divine Laws) and Allah knows all.

4: 71 – O Momenin! Take every precaution (you need for the strength of this order). In (case of) war, (depending on the situation) go in detachments or altogether.

4: 72 – And surely there are some amongst you who stay behind. Incase if a misfortune befalls they say, “It was Allah's blessing that we were not present with you.”

4: 73 – And if success comes to you they will for certainly say, “How wonderful had it been if we were with them. We could have also shared in their happiness and fortune.”

4: 74 – Let those (know) who fight for the path of Allah, those who trade their present life for the (sake) of a (better) future life, those who fight in the cause of Allah and either come back alive or die (in this cause), they (are the ones who) will be reward in the near future.

4: 75 – And what is the reason that you do not fight in the cause of Allah? Don’t you hear the cries of helpless men, women and children who cry, “O our Rab! Rescue us from this place whose inhibitors are oppressive and send someone to us who will protect us and defend us.”

4: 76 – These are the ones who fight in the cause of Allah [see 4: 75] and then there are kaferin (those) who fight in the cause of taghoot. (Taghoot includes every authority and system which advertises the following of man-made laws or anything authority other than Allah.)

You should fight against the people sponsoring (the systems of taghoot i.e.) the shaetan. Surely whatever strategy these forces come up with, they will prove to be barren.

4: 77 – Do you not know that for the establishment of this order the initial stage is the teaching and training for the concepts of salat and zakat (and after this comes the hardships)? But when (the next stage came and) they were asked to go for the fight a party in them became very fearful and asked Allah, “Why have you put a war onto us? Can't you postpone it for a while?” Tell them, “Provisions of this world are nothing when compared to the Hereafter for those who live according to Divine Code. Every little deed will be justly rewarded.”

4: 78 – No matter who you are, you will have to face death (one day), even if you are (hiding) in impeccable towers. If something good happens to these people they say, “This is from Allah,” and if a misfortune befalls them, they say, “This is because of you.”

Tell them, “If you desire to understand the correct position, I will explain it to you. The fact is that everything in the universe happens in accordance with Allah's Laws.”

4: 79 – if you follow Allah's Laws the results will be good and if you disregard them (by following your own laws) you will bring misfortune on yourselves. The rasool has been sent to you to forward the Divine Laws to you and establish a social system based on them.

4: 80 – Allah is obeyed by His Laws through the Islamic Order. And whoever turns away from this course, it will not be onto you to compel them to obey these laws. (Everyone will face the consequences of his/her own deeds.)

4: 81 – And amongst them are the people who pretend to follow (this course) but when they meet together at night (secretly) they plot against you. All their plots are written down by Allah. stay separate from them and trust in Allah who is All-Sufficient and Protector.

4: 82 – Do they not reflect upon the Koran? Were it from anyone other than Allah they would have found a lot of inconsistencies in it.

4: 83 – These (undisciplined) people when they hear any news they spread it straightaway. If they had referred the news to the rasool or the local authorities – the ones who are responsible of analyzing the news, they would have found the truth. Were it not for the grace of Allah upon you most of you would have followed these shaetan (like people and their gossips and rumors and would have brought troubles on yourselves).

4: 84 – Fight these people for the cause of Allah (without bothering whether these people will help you or not because) you are responsible for yourself. You should train the momenin so that they can (go for a) fight (when the time comes. If you keep on in this prescribed way then) the time will come when the (plans and onslaught) of the kaferin are restrained. And Allah is the strongest in power and strongest to restrain them.

4: 85 – Whoever enjoins he will have will have the share in the good results and whoever joins your opponents he will share (with them) the destruction which follows (such actions). And Allah controls all things.

4: 86 – And when you receive soundness and help from someone you return the favor with even more. Surely Allah takes into account all things.

4: 87 – Allah – Allah is the sole authority in the universe. The truth and falsehood will surely confront each other one day. This will surely happen. Whose words can be truer than Allah's?

4: 88 – What is the matter with you? Why have you divided into two parties regarding the munafekin whom Allah has cast away for their deeds? Do you desire to bring back those to the right course who have purposely chosen the wrong course? As long as they are determined to follow the wrong course, no one can guide them.

4: 89 – Their efforts are for the purpose to try to turn you into kaferin just as they themselves are so that both of you fall to the same level. Therefore do not make anyone of them your friends until they leave their homes in the cause of Allah. And if they betray you then seize them and kill them no matter where they hide. And (remember) not ask anyone of them for friendship or help.

4: 90 – Except those who have taken asylum with the people who are in your alliance or those who come to you declaring, “We wish stay neutral."

(Do not forget the fact that) if they had enough power they would have fought you (in order to destroy you). Nonetheless if they have come to you offering their neutrality, then their offer of peace should be accepted and you should not proceed against them.

4: 91 – You will also find those amid these people who declare that they are neutral but when there is a call from their people to join them in creating the disorder, they jump at the chance and create mischief (and disorder). If these people do not withdraw (from these acts) and do not give you a guarantee for peace you should restrain them, seize them and kill them no matter where they hide. This is a clear authorization from Allah (against them).

4: 92 – And it should never be that a momen kills another momen but by a mistake. If he kills another momen by mistake he should free a momin slave and pay the blood money to the family of the deceased until they forego this as an act of grace. If the deceased belonged to the people hostile to you, then setting free the slave is enough. If the deceased belonged to the people who are in alliance with you then both the momen slave should be freed and blood money should be paid. For those who find this beyond their limits they should fast for two continuous months and his repentance will be accepted. Allah is All-Knowing and Wise.

4: 93 – And whosoever kills a momen intentionally his punishment in the Hereafter is hell where he will abide in. (In this world the punishment is according to verse 2: 178 ) and he will be cast away from the Islamic Society and punished dearly.

4: 94 – O Momenin! When you go for a fight in Allah's Cause make certain that you know your foes and friends. If anyone send you a peace offer do not reply, “You are not sincere in your offer," and wage war against them.

Though this course of action will get you some spoils of war but keep in mind that what you get by obeying Allah's Laws is much more than this. You (people) used to look for such excuses in pre-Islamic era but now Allah has shown you the right course. Therefore before taking any course of action you should carefully decide. All is aware of what you do.

4: 95 – Those who are slow and those who are earnestly busy in the cause of Allah sacrificing both their lives and property, how can these two be equals? Allah grants higher place to the ones who give their lives and wealth in the cause of Allah. The promises of Allah however extend to the both (and both will receive the benedictions from the Islamic System). But when the matter of grades come, those who strive they will have the higher ones.

4: 96 – Protection and means of development are all granted by Allah according to the measures He has appointed.

4: 97 – Surely those who are satisfied with a life in wretched and operssive society will be asked at the time of their death, “Why did you live such an abject life?”

Their answer will be, “We were weak and helpless.”

The malekah will reply, “Was not the world of Allah vast enough for you to do hijrah to a favorable location?”

These are the people who lead a life of hell not only in this life but in the Hereafter too in which they shall abide forever.

4: 98 – This exception is only to the men, women and children who are really weak and unable to seek the means of escape and do not have a way to escape.

4: 99 – For these people [see 4: 98] there is the hope of being pardoned for Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving.

4: 100 – And whoever undertakes Hijrah in Allah's Course he will find the place of refuge and plentiful means of nourishment. And however leaves the home in order to go to the place where Islamic Order is established and dies on the way he will still be rewarded by Allah. Allah is forgiving and Rahim.

4: 101 – And when you are on a trip and you apprehend danger from your enemy there is no harm if you shorten your salat. Kaferin are your open enemies.

4: 102 – And when you are with the momenin when they are on the march and you are to arrange their salat it should be in the following fashion, “Let a batch of your followers join you in the salat keeping their weapons with them. When they have complete their sajdah let them go to the rear and the second batch join the salat. Even then they should take every precaution and keep their arms."

Your enemies wish that you become negligent towards your weapons and provisions so that they can attack you suddenly. If because of rain or some other reason it is not convenient for you to keep your arms then in this case you should put them asides you and even then you should be very careful of your enemies. Surely your enemies will suffer a humiliating defeat but you have to be very cautious of them.

4: 103 – Then when you finish your salat in this environment of insecurity (then do not think you have fulfilled your duty to Allah but) you should be mindful to Divine Codes all the time (whether you are) sitting, standing or lying down. When you are secure again return to the salat in the regular way. It is to be noted that the assemblies of salat are to be held at appointed times in which participation is compulsory.

4: 104 – And do not loose heart in the battlefield because of hardships. Remember if you are facing hardships then your enemies are facing the same hardships. And one thing which you have and they don't have is the hope from Allah. Allah is All-Knowing and Wise.

4: 105 – Surely we have sent you the Divine Code so that you can judge between the people based on the laws given in the book. And do not advocate on behalf of those who betray the trust.

4: 106 – And Allah's Laws must always be followed surely Allah is Forgiving and Rahim.

4: 107 – And do not plead on behalf of those who act unfaithfully to their own souls. Surely Allah does not trust those who betray the trust and persist their sinful ways.

4: 108 – They can hide their crimes from others but they cannot hide from Allah. Allah is watching them when they hold their nightly secret meetings to discuss matters which are not approved by Allah. Allah encompasses all what they do.

4: 109 – Behold! Those who plead on behalf of such people (and somehow escape them of the punishments they deserve, do know) you can plead for them in this world but who will plead for such people in front of Allah in Hereafter (and rescue them from their deserving punishment)? Who will be their protector (then)?

4: 110 – And whoever commits a sin on himself (i.e. his soul) or against someone else he will have to suffer the resulting effects save those who (repent and) ask for forgiveness (by realizing their mistake). These (are the people who) will find Allah forgiving and Rahim.

4: 111 – And whoever commits a sin it is as if he is committing this sin on his own soul (as every sin weakens his personality hitherto he realizes it or not). Allah is All-Knowing and Wise.

4: 112 – And whosoever commits a crime and accuses an innocent of this crime he takes on himself (the two punishments one of) the calumny and (second of) the crime (which he committed).

4: 113 – And had it not been for the grace of Allah (that he revealed to you the Divine Code) a party of your enemies ploting against you to lead to astray would have been successful. Now (that you have the light of Allah's Laws) they can neither lead you astray nor can they do a harm to you. The only thing they can do is to lead themselves astray. And this is a great blessing for you from Allah.

4: 114 – Their (i.e. the munafekin's) secret meetings are for no good cause. These consultations can only be beneficial if they are for the purpose of betterment of the society or for what is right and favorable to promote goodwill amongst the populace. Those who do these deeds without any clandestine aim will receive numerous rewards from Allah (both in this world and the Hereafter).

4: 115 – And whoever after receiving such clear guidance decides to oppose the rasool (i.e. Divine Code) or choose to follow a course other than that of the momenin then will be (considered a) companion of those whom he himself he has chosen. And they will lead (themselves and him into) a life of hell. And this is a cursed destination for carrying out a journey.

4: 116 – Surely there is no protection (and forgiveness) for those who commit shirk (i.e. association of anyone/thing with Allah in any form including in His Divine Laws both for the universe and humans). And for the rest there is the possibility that the short-comings of the minor effects can be removed by (steadfastly following Allah's Course and) carrying out good deeds. And (remember) shirk takes a person very far from the right course.

4: 117 – These people do not reach out to Allah but call upon to lifeless gods (and goddesses). These people indeed follow (their own) shaetan (i.e. their self-interested feelings or their priests).

4: 118 – Shaetan was the castaway who was condemned by Allah and as declared they (the priests) take a big portion of masses (away from Allah's Course) towards their own wrong path (for a meager sum of unlabored money).

4: 119 – They (the priests and alike) lead the people astray (by various methods including superstitions, false miracles etc.) give them false hopes (by telling them that their gods will grant then what they wish for if they keep with these gods, which always includes financial help by the masses). These (priests and alike carry out stupid customs to keep up the facade e.g. they) ask the people to slit the ears of the cattle. These (are the) people (who also) deface Allah's Laws (and change them for their own suit).

Allah has cast these people (to be) out (of the Islamic Circle) and whoever follows them will only obtain losses (and devastations).

4: 120 – (These people n priests who are like) shaetan (they) make false promises and show false hopes to the people who follow them. But in reality these promises (and hopes) are nothing but fantasies.

4: 121 – These are the ones who make life a hell from which there is no escape.

4: 122 – And (as for) those who believe in Allah's Laws and follow them they will earn gardens in which streams flow and they will live in there forever. This is Allah's promise which is always fulfilled. And what else can be truer than Allah's word (surely no the words of those priests)?

4: 123 – The heavenly life cannot be earned just by a wishful thinking – be it you or the Ahl-e-Kitab. Whoever carries out wrong deeds would suffer the respective consequences and no one will be able to save them but Allah's Laws (from which he had strayed).

4: 124 – And whoever carry out good deed whether momen male or momen female he/she will earn the heavenly life and not even a bit of their labors will be left unrewarded.

4: 125 – And (ask them) which is the better Deen than the one in which every person surrenders to Allah's Laws alone does good to others and follows the course which Abraham had chosen – Abraham – who was the friend of Allah (because he followed the course of Allah).

4: 126 – And this Deen encompasses the entire universe and earth and all things within.

4: 127 – And they ask you about the matters concerning the women. Tell them, "Allah has told you the laws concerning them. Now you are given the laws concerning the women without husbands whether unmarried or widows. You aim is to marry these women but avoid giving them the legal dues. It is a must to pay these dues. Similarly the dues of the orphans and those who are unprotected in the society should be paid equitably. And whatever you do Allah is aware of that."

4: 128 – And if a women fears ill-treatment or aversion on her husband's part the two may settle the matter amicably for amicable settlement is always better. Self-interest is the main obstacle in the settlement of such matters as human mind is prone to it. But if you also keep in mind the interests of other people and follow Allah's Course then this obstacle can be overcome. Allah is aware of what you do.

4: 129 – And it is not in your power to hold the justice between your wives even if you honestly desire it. (If you want to do justice then) do not be inclined towards one wife in such a way that another is left as if she were suspended. If you observe fairness and be mindful of Allah's Laws surely Allah will be forgiving and Rahim.

4: 130 – And if they decide to separate then the fear of being left out without provision should not become an obstacle in separation. The social order should provide you in abundance. This order is based on wisdom and nurturing.

4: 131 – Everything in the universe is busily fulfilling Allah's Plan. Similarly Allah's Plan should be introduced in the human society. This was enjoined upon the humans who were given the Divine Book before you and now you are being asked to follow Allah's Laws. Whether you opt to or opt not to (it will not effect Allah's Plan and) Allah's Laws will continue to operate in the universe as they do now. For Allah is Self-Sufficient and the sole authority to be followed.

4: 132 – And whatever is in the heavens and is in the earth belongs to Allah and Allah is self-Sufficient to carry out these tasks.

4: 133 – It is compared to nothing for Allah to replace the (entire) humanity with someone else. Undoubtedly Allah holds the power to do this.

4: 134 – Whoever desires the gains of this world should know that if they remain steadfast to Allah's Course not only they can have the gains of this world but the Hereafter as well. And Allah is All-Hearing and All-Seeing.

4: 135 – O Momenin! If you are asked to give testimony take the side of the neither party. You should give the testimony on behalf of Allah. Be honest in giving the evidence – be it against your own self, your parents, relatives (or without considering) whether the concerned party is rich or poor. Allah safeguards the interests of both parties (more than you would for one party). Therefore do not be bias because if you do, it will be considered going astray. Neither foist your testimonies nor show any aversion as appearing as a witness. Remember Allah is aware of what you do.

4: 136 – O Momenin! (Have firm) believe in Allah, the rasool, the Book which He has revealed to him and which he revealed before him. Whoever disbelieves in Allah, His malaekah, His Books, His rasool, and the Hereafter, he has certainly strayed.

4: 137 – Surely those who believe, then disbelieve and then believe again and then disbelieve once more and then become mulish about their disbelief they will neither find any protection from Allah nor will they find any guidance towards the right course.

4: 138 – Declare to the munafekin that they will have a very painful chastisement.

4: 139 – Those who befriend kafir rather than momin, their goal is power and glory from them. Tell them that all the power and glory (only) comes by following Allah and His Laws.

4: 140 – And it has been clearly revealed to you in the Book that if you see Allah's Laws being rejected at and laughed at then do not accompany such people until they change their course of action. Surely if you who do not do this, you will be considered as one of those people. Surely Allah will gather all the munafekin and kaferin in hell.

4: 141 – These (munafekin) are the people who wait and watch (your actions). If you earn a victory they quickly profess, “We are with you.” And if the unbelievers are successful they say, "Did we not encouraged you to attack the believers and we also protected you.”

Inform them that Allah will decide about them on the Day of Judgment and Allah will never allow the unbelievers to gain an upper hand on the believers.

4: 142 – The munafekin strive to deceive Allah by adopting a two faced tactics towards Allah's System and delude themselves into thinking that they are (actually) deceiving Allah. The reality is they are deceiving themselves. And when they join the meeting of Salat they do so grudgingly. (The only reason) they do it to be seen by others ignoring the real purpose (and this is why they only do it in its formal aspect).

4: 143 – They belong to neither of the parties and are like a hovering fly between the two. Those who stray from Allah's Course can never find a way.

4: 144 – O Momenin! Only make momenin your friends and not the kaferin. And if you do make kaferin your friends, this action alone will be sufficient enough as evidence against you.

4: 145 – Munafekin are in the lowest stages of fire (and disgrace) and they will find no helpers.

4: 146 – Except those who repent (make amends) and steadfastly hold to Allah's Laws and sincerely adhere to the Deen. Only then they will be considered the momenin and the monenin will be rewarded greatly by Allah.

4: 147 – Why will Allah punish you if you believe in His Laws and follow them? Allah knows about every sincere actions and rewards (accordingly).

4: 148 – Allah does not like the publicity of (wrong deeds and) evils (which one might have committed), unless the person who has been wronged talks about the injustice done to him. Surely Allah is All-Hearing All-Knowing.

4: 149 – If you do a good deed then there is no harm whether you publicize it or hide it. And to pardon others shortcomings is a good deed. Take a look at Allah who with all His power is forbearing.

4: 150-151 – It is certain that those who deny Allah and His rasool, who believe in the Laws of Allah operating in the universe but disbelieve in the laws given to the humanity through the rasool [see 21: 61-63] and those who accept a part of these laws and reject the rest [also see 2: 85] trying to take a course in between all of them are true disbelievers. Allah has prepared a disgraceful punishment for them.

4: 152 – And those who believe in Allah and His rasool and make no distinction between them are the momenin. They will be rewarded by Allah who is Protector and Nourisher.

4: 153 – The Ahl-e-Kitab ask for a readymade to be disclosed to them from the sky. (This is nothing compared to) the demand they made to the Moses asking him, “Show us Allah visibly."

They were so bold in demanding such for such a wish and yet so weak that succumbed to the thundering sounds of the earthquake, terrified by it.

Then they started worshiping a calf [also see 2: 92] after that they had received clear guidance from Allah. Evan after all this they were pardoned and Moses was given unquestioned authority.

4: 154 – And we gave them sanctuary in a valley with sky high mountains. (There a covenant was taken from them when) they were asked, "Enter the city submissively and do not transgress the limits of Sabbath." This was a firm bond taken from them.

4: 155 – The broke their pledges, deviated from Allah's Laws and killed their rasool (which is unjust) and declared arrogantly that their hearts were sealed shut and nothing new would enter them. (Tell them) the seal on their hearts was the result of their (continuous) wrong deeds. But even now (those who are open minded those) very few profess Eman from amongst them.

4: 156 – Their disbelief had reached to such an extent that they uttered a grievous calumny against Mary.

4: 157 – And they boasted that they had killed Jesus, the son of Mary, rasool of Allah. But the reality is that they neither murdered him nor crucified him. What was taken as a reality by them was merely what was shown to them (by their own people, i.e. other people lied to them about the humiliated death by cross and they believed it without facts and evidence).

And most surely you can judge this (historical incident) by the fact that there are some within them who differ in this stance and are in doubt about the authenticity of this incident.

The reality is they have no information as to what really happened, (because of all the wrong propaganda. But now it is told to you that) surely they did not kill Jesus.

4: 158 – (Inform openly) Allah raised Jesus to a very high (place* and) ranks. And Allah is might and rise.

4: 159 – And the Ahl-e-Kitab who are so firm in their beliefs that each one of them professes that Jesus was crucified and atoned for their sins, before his/her death. Whilst at the Day of Judgment Jesus himself will give the testimony against this belief (that he did not ask them for this).

4: 160 – Because of the wrong doings of the Jews they were prohibited to take what was lawful to them before. Their wrong deeds also included hindering others from following Allah's Course.

4: 161 – (The wrong doings of Jews also included taking) Riba – something which was forbidden to them and so was devouring the property of others which is unlawful. For these people (who carry out these acts) Allah has prepared a painful punishment.

4: 162 – But amongst them there are some people who strive for knowledge and then believe in what has been disclosed to you and what was disclosed before you. They also help in the establishment of the systems of Salat and Zakat. They wholeheartedly believe in Allah and the Hereafter and to them We will give the great reward.

4: 163 – Lo! Islam is the same Deen which was sent to Noah and the rasool after him including Abraham, Ismael, Isaac, Jacob and their progeny, Jesus, Jacob, Jonah, Aaron (Haroon) and Solomon. And we gave David (Daod) the Zaboor.

4: 164 – And we revealed (the similar Divine Code) to the rasool mentioned to you earlier including Moses and as well as those (rasool) who have not been mentioned.

4: 165 – The rasool were sent to inform the people (the results of their deeds) that if they adhered to Allah's Course they will have a bountiful life and if they did not follow Allah's Course there lives would be that of degradation and chaos. The rasool were sent so that the people would not petition to the Allah that they had not been informed as how to live their lives. Now that the rasool had been sent (with the clear guidance) they cannot plea to Allah. And Allah is Mighty and Wise.

4: 166 – (The universe of) Allah bears witness to the truth of what has been disclosed to you (by the fact that everything is following Allah alone). This is based on knowledge and the (physical) forces (at work in the universe like that of force of gravity). This alone is enough as a witness for Allah.

4: 167 – Surely those who disbelieve and create hindrances in the course of Allah are indeed strayed.

4: 168 – Surely their rejection of Allah's Laws and zulm and (would take them to the ruined lives and) they will not find any protection from Allah nor will they find any guidance (in this way).

4: 169 – This path (which they have chosen) will take them straight to hell (like life) wherein to abide forever. And this is very easy according to Allah's Law of Mukafat.

4: 170 – O Humankind! The rasool has been sent to you with the truth from your Rab. Believe what he says (and what he reveals and follow it). This is for your own benefit (and you will be able to create the heavenly social life which you yearn for). Contrarily if you choose to disbelieve then do know that no harm will come to Allah. The entire universe is busy in carrying out Allah's Plan (and if you do not follow upon these guidelines, you will also join the normal speed of everything else in the universe which takes thousands of years to carry out its orders [see 32: 5 and 70: 4]).

4: 171 – O Ahl-e-Kitab! Do not exceed the limits prescribed by your Deen. Do not foist lies against Allah (by including injunctions in your religions and attribute to Allah). The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary is only a rasool of Allah who was brought up in accordance with Allah's Laws conveyed to Mary. The teachings of Jesus were based on the revelation which was also a source of his strength. Believe in Allah and His rasool, including Jesus but not in the Trinity. It is better for you if you do not believe in the concept of Trinity. (Why?) Because Allah is the sole authority, beyond the concept of having a son. (Why will Allah require a son when) everything in the universe and earth follows only Him and Allah alone is sufficient for controlling all this (unlike the humans who require the help of their children in working).

4: 172 – You deify (and worship) Jesus and Malaikah (in your concept of Trinity, thinking that any lower position is not up to their standard) while both of them openly declare that they feel no contempt in saying that they are nothing but servants of Allah. And whoever disdains himself to be His servant because of his arrogance – Mark – they all will be gathered in a circle in the end by Allah.

4: 173 – Those who believe in Allah and follow His Laws they will be rewarded for every deed and much more out of His benedictions. But for those who were disdained and too arrogant they will receive a severe punishment and (do know) there is no helper or guardian besides Allah.

4: 174 – O Humankind! Surely the manifested light (Koan) is the clear evidence of the truthfulness of Allah's Laws which has been sent by Allah.

4: 175 – And those who believe in Allah and hold to Allah's Course steadfastly then in the Rehmat and Benedictions of Allah they will be guided to the destination of blessings of Allah.

4: 176 – They ask you regarding the law of inheritance of the deceased who leaves neither children nor parents. Tell them:

  1. If the deceased is a man having only one sister, she will receive one-half of the inheritance.
  2. If the deceased is a women, her brother will be the sole inheritor.
  3. If the deceased is a man and leaves two or more sisters then they all-together will have the two-thirds of the inheritance.
  4. If there are a number of brothers and sisters then the inheritance will be according to the law that the share of a male is twice to that of a female.

Allah has clearly explained these laws to you so that you may not err. Allah knows everything.
