Phyllis Slater opened her mailbox and opened the invitation. She put her hand on her cheek. "Oh no…"
She walked into the house and almost ran into Nicholas. "Whoa mom. Where's the fire?"
"Oh Nicholas it's the most terrible thing!" Phyllis said in her normal drama queen manner. "The town's put on some celebration for New Year's."
"Yeah… so… They announced it in the newspaper."
"So? My dinner party is tonight. Everyone in town will be there. Oh, everything's ruined. I bet everyone's cancelled." She rushed over to the answering machine. "Five messages Nicholas. Five! It's everyone canceling."
"Mom I'm really not seeing the--"
He was interrupted by the telephone. "See there's someone now. Calling to cancel." She picked up the phone "Hello? Oh, hello darling. Of course… I know, don't worry about it. It's perfectly fine. Yes, yes. I really do understand." She hung up the phone. "Everything's ruined now Nicholas."
"Mother. Since everyone's cancelled why don't we go to the town party? As a family."
"Oh darling… Well, I suppose we don't have much choice."
"It's really not that big of a deal."
She sighed and touched her son's cheeks. "I suppose it's really not…"

Philip stood on a ladder and adjusted the last hidden camera, which was pointed directly at Laurie's bed. He hopped down and walked over to her bed where his laptop was. He clicked on a button and a crystal-clear vision of him sitting on the bed. "Ah. Perfect. Absolutely perfect." He shut down his laptop and took one last look at the bedroom before shutting the door.
He opened the door and began to walk away quickly but suddenly stood still. Frozen in his tracks.
"Philip? What in the hell are you doing?"
He turned back around and came face to face with Mia Brooks. "I… um… uh--" He stammered.

"Kyle? Elizabeth? This better be damned good." Max Allred said as he opened the door.
"Oh trust me it is. May we come in?" Kyle asked.
"Fine. Make it quick."
Elizabeth nodded at the chief of police as she walked into his house.
"All right spill it."
Kyle pulled the tape player out of his pocket. "I think you'll find this tape very interesting." He handed him the tape player.
Max's eyes widened as he heard Felicia confessing to Gregory's murder. Gregory had been one of Max's dear friends for many years. "I-Is this real?"
"Very. Elizabeth recorded it when she was out to dinner with Felicia one night. She's actually been trying to get her to confess since she first came to town. She approached me with the tape and we agreed that it would be best for you to handle this."
"And you better believe I will deal with that cursed woman." His face was red with hatred as he spoke of Felicia. He walked over to his phone and pressed a button the speed dial. "Yeah. Get me Kate Weiss."

"Father. I do not want to talk about it. I've made my decision. I'm almost thirty years old for Christ sake's. I think I'm capable of making my own decisions. So you and mother can just back off all right?" He threw his cell phone on the bed and sat at the desk in the bedroom. He folded his arms and laid his head down.
Victoria knocked and walked into her mother's bedroom. "Oh, excuse me Brad. I just need to get something out of my mother's closet." She walked closer to him. "Brad is something wrong?"
He looked up at her and shrugged. "My parents don't understand… your mother and I."
She put her hands on his shoulders. "Honey, I don't think you're going to find too many people that are going to understand your relationship with my mother."
"I suppose you're right." He touched her cheek and gazed at her beautiful eyes. "You're beautiful, just like your mother."
She was suddenly swept away by his handsome face. What was happening? "Brad…" She leaned in and kissed him passionately. He kissed her back, matching her passion. She had never been kissed like this before. "Oh… Brad…" She managed to say during their heated kiss.
Anna peaked through the cracked door, making sure she wasn't going to walk in on anything between Phyllis and Brad. To her surprise she saw Brad and her granddaughter kissing.
"Mother? What are you doing?"
She slammed the door giving Victoria a warning. "Oh… I was just looking for you Phyllis."
"Well here come in."
She tensed up as Phyllis opened the door. Hoping that Victoria had caught on to her warning.
"Brad, Victoria." She smiled. "How nice…"

He grabbed her by her throat and slammed her up against the wall. "You listen here you little slut. You breathe one word of this and I'll kill you. Do you understand?" He slammed her up against the wall violently. "Do you understand me?"
She watched almost in a daze as the veins in Philip's neck throbbed.
"Damnit Mia. Answer me!" He took his free hand and balled it up in a fist. "Do you understand me?" He repeated.
"Y-Yes… I won't say anything…" He released her from his grip and she fell to the ground. Clutching her neck while she coughed loudly.
"Remember Mia. I'll kill you and no one will miss you because you're just a little skank whore and girls like you come a dime a dozen."
She held onto the wall for support trying to stand again.
"Hey! What are you kids doing in here? The campus is closed. You're not allowed to be in here." A security guard approached them.
"Oh. I'm sorry. The door was open and I had to get a change of clothes." Mia said to the man.
"Well the door shouldn't have been open."
"Well that isn't my fault."
"You two go on and get out of here before you get me in a whole mess of trouble."

"Kyle, where did you go?" April asked as Kyle walked into his vacant home.
"Elizabeth and I went to see Max Allred."
"Why did you go see him?"
He looked at his watch. "You'll be pleased to know that Felicia Laurence should be getting arrested as we speak."
"What?"
"I'll tell you later." He said as he walked towards Noah and Simone. "Thank you both, for everything. Not just helping me move but thank you for being my friends and being so good to me. You two are two of the most amazing people I have ever met and I pray that there's two people as great as you two are in Pinõn Hallow."
"I don't know. We'd be pretty hard to beat." Simone joked.
"Look man, we're going to go. I'm sure that you and April will need some alone time before you leave. Good luck." Noah said as he hit Kyle's shoulder. "I hope you find what you're looking for there." He turned towards his fiancée, "Simone."
She hugged Kyle tightly and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm going to miss you so much Kyle." Her eyes began to swell up with tears. "You deserve happiness so much and I know you'll find it. You'll be fine there. J-Just promise not to forget us."
He hugged Simone. "I could never forget you."
She wiped her tears. "Silly me for crying. This is a joyous occasion for you Kyle. You're moving on, starting a new life." She looked at Noah and April. "But unfortunately leaving an old life behind." A fresh wave of tears hit her. "Goodbye Kyle. I love you." She turned to her lover and nodded. "Come on Noah."
He touched her back, trying to comfort her. "I'm sure that meant a lot to him Simone." He said when they were outside of the door.
"I've always hated saying goodbye. I'm just so afraid I'll never see him again Noah and he was such a good friend."
He put his arms around her. "I highly doubt Kyle will just brush us aside."
"I hope you're right." She wiped her tears again. "God I wish I would stop crying."

Sarah was almost out the door when she felt a hand on her arm. She turned around and looked at her cousin. "Yes Ethan?"
"Sarah. You had sex with Trevor didn't you?"
She was caught of guard by his statement. "Do what?"
"I thought you were with Amir."
"I was-am. I… I don't know."
"Where are you going?"
"To go see him."
"Oh…" It was all coming clear to him now. "The ceremonial breaking up with the boyfriend. Ouch."
"I'm not breaking up with him."
"Sarah, dear. You're playing a dangerous game here. You of all people should know that."
"What game?"
"Dating Amir and sleeping with Trevor. That stuff always gets out, eventually. You'll have to choose, you do realize that don't you? You just can't go around dating and sleeping with whomever you want. Well… actually you could but then people might frown upon you and whisper things when you walk into a room, if you catch my drift."
"Look Ethan. I'm confused as hell. I really like Amir and we've connected in a way I've never connected with someone before but Trevor… well, we have history."
"He also has history with Victoria."
She glared at the thought of her. "No. No. They were over a long time ago."
"Who you trying to convince me or yourself?"

"Mother. I just came in here to get the um-shoes you borrowed from me the other night."
"They're in my closet." She walked over to her husband. "Brad darling, what's wrong?"
"I talked to my dad…"
Victoria grabbed her shoes and walked out of the bedroom as quick as she could. She was making her way down the stairs but we stopped by her grandmother.
"Victoria."
She turned around. "Did you slam the door?"
"You know I did."
"I just… I just don't know what happened back there."
"Oh I can tell you what happened. What were you thinking?"
"I don't know…"
"What if your mother would have walked in?"
"Thankfully she didn't. I don't know what happened grandmother but whatever it was…"
"Stupid?"
"I was actually going for unbelievable."
She shook her head. "Victoria Esther Slater."
"I know-I know! Just stop nagging me for a minute. I need a minute to think all this through…"

"Luke? Come in." Carly Cramer invited Luke into her home.
"Carly… I need to talk to you."
"Okay. I just made some tea, would you like a cup?"
"Yes. Thank you."
"Make yourself at home." She said as she disappeared into the kitchen. She came out moments later carrying a serving tray with two cups, cream and sugar. She placed it on the coffee table and stirred sugar into her tea. She sat back and crossed her legs. "Well Luke, what do you need to talk about?"
"I… Carly you're going to be really, really disappointed."
"Just tell me."
"I… slept with one of my students last night."
Her eyes amplified in shock. "Luke…"
"I knew you'd be disappointed."
"Who was it?"
"… Mia Brooks."
"Oh… she has quite a reputation for… sleeping around."
"I was aware of that. She's actually hit on me before."
"She didn't do it for a higher grade did she?"
"No. She's got an A in my class."
"Well, I suppose it's not that bad then. I'd just be careful Luke. You don't want a bad reputation at HBU."
"I know… I know…"

"Laurie!" The young man called out and began to approach her.
"Philip. Hi."
"I thought you were in San Francisco."
"I was… I came back early."
"The campus is closed."
She sighed. "I imagined it would be…" She set her two suitcases on the ground. "Well, great I have no place to go now."
"You can stay with me if you like."
"Really?"
"There's only one condition…"
"And that is…?"
"Be my date to the town celebration tonight."
"Oh Philip. Of course." She smiled. "I would love to go with you."

Brad noticed Phyllis nervous playing with her wedding band.
"Phyllis, is something wrong?"
"I don't know… I'm nervous."
"About what?"
"Kip arrives tonight. Well, not tonight. I think he'll make it here around three or four in the morning."
"Why are you nervous about that?"
"I want him to be comfortable here."
"I'm sure he will be."
"Brad just promise not to run around the house shirtless anymore?"
"I won't, I promise."
"You're so understanding darling."

Felicia looked through the peephole and opened the door. Max, Kate and Elizabeth stared at her coldly. "What are you all doing here?"
"Oh please let me do this Max. I've been dying to do this for years."
"What are you talking about?" Felicia asked as she took a step back.
"Go ahead Kate."
Kate walked up to Felicia. "Get away from me." She backed up again. "What are you doing?"
She pulled out her handcuffs. "Come on Felicia."
She gasped at the sight. "No. No. Get away from me! Get away!" She ran for the door but Max grabbed her.
"You're not going anywhere honey."
Felicia fought viciously as Kate put the handcuffs on her wrist. "No! Stop it! Please… get away from me."
"Felicia Laurence I'm putting you under arrest for the murder of Gregory Smith."
"I didn't do it! You've got to believe me." She pleaded as she looked at Kate. "Please… Don't do this to me." She broke down in tears.
"Felicia. We have your taped confession. It's over."
There was sudden fury in her eyes as she spit in Elizabeth's face. "How could you do this to me? You're no better than I am. I'll get you for this Elizabeth." She turned her sight towards Kate who was smiling in triumph. "I should have had you killed off a long time ago…"

Mia climbed on top of Amir on his leather couch. "I've wanted you since that night I met you in the café." Amir said as he took off her shirt.
"I never thought I'd break you down." She let her hands glide up underneath his shirt. "But I'm glad I did."
"I want you Mia, right here, right now."
"You've got me." She looked down at him and smiled as she unzipped his pants.
He let out a faint moan of pleasure.
"I've never wanted a man so much before in my life."

"Trevor. Come in." Victoria smiled widely answering the door in only a white bathrobe.
He looked around at the empty house. "I thought there was going to be a dinner party. Am I early? You did say eight didn't you?"
"Mother decided to cancel it. We're all going to the town celebration, would you like to come with me?"
"Sure."
"Come with me upstairs. I just need to get ready. You can hang out up there with me. I'm sure you'd be very uncomfortable if I left you with mother."
Once inside the bedroom Trevor spun Victoria around towards him and they met in a passionate lock.
She pulled away, taken off guard. She looked at the man who she hadn't seen in five years. She had often dreamed off him coming to save her from her nightmares. She began kissing him again.
They moved towards the bed. "Oh… mm… Wait!" She pulled away again. "Just wait. Right here. I'll be back in a minute." She ran out of the room and darted down the stairs almost taking Nicholas out as she ran into the living room, out of breath.
"Victoria, darling. We were all just about to walk out the door." Phyllis said beginning to walk out of the living room.
"I'm not going." She said to her mother.
"What? Darling, why not?"
"Would this have anything to do with the handsome young man upstairs?"
"Grandmother--" She tried to cut her off.
"Oh… ohh…" Phyllis said, realizing what was going on.
"I don't think I can stand another sex talk. Especially now since it's about my sister. I'll be out in the car." Nicholas walked out of the living room.
"Well, you go get your man Victoria."
"Oh mother come on…"
"We'll be back in a couple of hours. We promise not to disturb you."
She watched until her mother's car was safely out of sight before shutting the door, locking it and darted back up the stairs.

Felicia sat up in the uncomfortable bed. She looked around her small cell as tears gradually formed in her eyes. She never thought she would be here. It had been so long since the Gregory Smith murder investigation had been closed. Kate, Max, and Elizabeth they were all such vicious people. At least she knew what to expect from Kate or Max but Elizabeth had stabbed her in the back, landing her into a jail cell. All those years she thought Elizabeth was her friend. "You'll pay for this Elizabeth…"
"My, my, my how the mighty have fallen." April gloated.
"We just had to see it for ourselves." Kyle stood beside her. "A four by six jail cell. How… hm… fitting."
"Leave me alone." Felicia muttered as she turned her head.
"They'll fry you at your trial and you better believe I'll be there everyday. Watching. Watching your defeat. While I sit back in triumph. It'll be most pleasuring watching you crumble before my eyes. Karma finally caught up with you, my dear, and caught up with you it has…"
Felicia ran to the prison bars and grabbed April's wrist, digging her fingernails into her skin. "Don't mess with me April. I've gotten through bad predicaments before and I can certainly get through this one. You forget they can't keep me in here forever and the day I get out of here I'm coming after you and everyone else who put me here." Blood began to pour out of where Felicia had her fingernails. "You're the only one to blame for being in there Felicia…" She said not frightened by the woman's threats. "Come on Kyle. Let's go to the airport and get you far away from this miserable woman."
"You just watch April Moore. They can't keep me in here forever! The can't keep me in here forever!" She screamed frantically at April as she walked away.

Sarah pushed open the cracked door. "Hello?" She said softly.
"Oh yes Amir!" Someone shouted from the living room. "What in the hell…" She muttered. She dropped her purse at the sight in front of her. "Oh… No…" She managed to say weakly as she buried her face in her hands and ran out of the house. She got into her car and drove off quickly. Once she was a mile away from his house she pulled off to the side of the road and laid her head on the steering wheel as she sobbed. "A-Amir…" Her mind reminisced to Christmas night with Trevor…

Trevor and Sarah sat on her bed kissing each other. She removed his t-shirt and pushed him down on the bed. "God I've bet you've waited for this forever." She laid on top of him began kissing his neck and slowly moved down his chest and stomach.
She stopped at his stomach and shrugged.
He looked down at Sarah. "What's wrong?"
"I can't…"
"What do you mean? We've both been waiting for this since I moved away… It's been so long. Too long."
"Trevor it's not right. I can't do this to Amir." She got off of him and laid beside him.
"When did you suddenly become so angelic. Sarah you're no angel. In fact… not even close." He looked at her and kissed her on the lips.
She kissed him back. God… I can't do this…
He stopped kissing her and climbed on top of her. "Besides baby, you've never been able to resist me."
"Don't do this to me Trevor…" She ran her fingers through his hair. "I can't do this to Amir."
"Who needs Amir baby? You've got me."
She gave into temptation and let him remove her nightgown.
"That's it baby… That's it."

Their eyes met and they stared at each other for what seemed like hours. There were no words to say. They both knew what they wanted. The air surrounding them was heavy with the potent energy of the couple. He laid down on the bed and held his hand out for her to join him.
She squeezed his hand for a moment and then removed her bathrobe.
His heart seemed to skip a beat at the sight of her fully exposed in front of him.
Slowly and elegantly she climbed onto the bed with him. She ran her hands across his bare chest and kissed him while pressing her body into his, she relished the feel of her lips on his. Her body on his.
It had been ten long years since her last encounter with a man, ten years since Thomas had raped her but the thought of him was miles away and she was with the man she had loved all those years… Trevor. Her knight in shining armor had finally come and was the luckiest woman in the world.

Kyle and April stood in front of the airport terminal. "Well… this is it…" Kyle said with a hint of sadness.
"Yes… Yes it is."
"I'll miss you April… I lov--"
"Don't do it." Her eyes began to water up. "Go to Pinõn Hallow and never look back Kyle. Never look back. This is what is best for you. I know that even though I hate to admit it. I would go with you but my life is here… and… your life is elsewhere. You get a fresh start, a new beginning. Do you realize how lucky you are? Most of us don't get second chances. But here's yours and I refuse to let you grief over leaving me and Heaven Beach behind. You'll be fine." She gently touched his face. It would probably be the last time she would ever touch his face again. "Do whatever makes you happy Kyle. Fall in love. Don't be afraid of it. You'll make someone a great husband someday and I know she's waiting for you, right now. Don't ever question this, it was fate for all of this to happen. Even the Felicia stuff. If you ever need me call me, anytime. I'm here for you, always."
They were both in tears by the end of her talk. He hugged her tightly, "God I'm going to miss you."
"I'm going to miss you too…"
"We are now boarding flight 196 to Colorado Springs."
"That's my flight…"
She nodded. "Goodbye Kyle."
"April…"
"Go." She smiled. "There's nothing left to say." She kissed his lips one last time. She would miss kissing his lips. She sighed.
He stared at her not knowing what to do.
"Go… You don't want to miss your flight."
"Goodbye April…"
"Oh Kyle." She remembered something suddenly. "Don't forget, I'm pretty sure they call soda 'pop.'"
"I won't." He smiled at her and turned around.
She watched him walk down the terminal and board his flight. That would be the last time she would ever see him. She walked over to a nearby chair and cried. "I-I'm going to miss you Kyle…"

Think of me think of me fondly, when we've said goodbye.
Remember me once in a while - please promise me you'll try.
When you find that, once again, you long to take your heart back and be free - if you ever find a moment, spare a thought for me...

We never said our love was evergreen, or as unchanging as the sea - but if you can still remember, stop and think of me...

Think of all the things we've shared and seen - don't think about the things which might have been...
Think of me, think of me waking, silent and resigned.
Imagine me, trying too hard to put you from my mind.

Recall those days, look back on all those times, think of those things we'll never do - there will never be a day, when I won't think of you...

Austin watched the mayor count down the last ten seconds of 2003. A year he wished that had never happened, the year when his world was turned upside down.
"… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1"
There was a loud cheer from the crowd and couples began holding each other and kissing. He glanced to his left and looked in complete horror as he saw Laurie kissing the man from the restaurant. He began to walk over toward them. He was going to deck the guy, right here in front of everyone. He didn't care where he was the passionate anger possessed him. He was ten feet away when he bumped into a young man. He moved him aside and continued towards the man kissing Laurie.
Ethan grabbed his arm and turned him so that they were facing. "Hey buddy why don't you watch where in the hell you're…" He suddenly froze.
Austin looked at him oddly as the teen continued to just stare at him. Come on. Just leave me alone. That's all I need is to hit some kid in the face. He realized it was the kid from the café the day after Thanksgiving when he was there with Laurie. What was his name… Ethan… Ethan had thought he recognized him from somewhere. "What?" He finally asked.
The picture from the attic flashed in his head. He looked into Austin's eyes. They were the same eyes… "Oh my God… I know who you are…"
