Austin's Dorm
Philip blew out the flame and dropped the picture on the couch. "Who the hell are you?"
"I might ask you the same thing…" Jacob approached the young man. "Well, spill it. Why are you in my son's dorm?"
He stammered trying to find words, "I was just dropping off an assignment. He wasn't in class today."
Jacob picked the half-burnt picture off the couch. Philip stared at him not knowing what the man was going to do. "Uh huh, how about we start over and you actually tell me the truth this time."
"Look, I-I don't have to stand here and answer anything. I'm leaving." He rushed out of the dorm and collapsed up against the wall in the hallway. "Damnit." He muttered.
"Pretty girl." He said to himself, dropping the picture back on the couch. "No doubt he was her jealous boyfriend." Giving up on his search he too left the dorm.

"I'm afraid I'm not bringing you good news Austin," April glanced over the paper that had Mia's status once more. "I've never seen something like this before. She has regained consciousness but she is jerking violently every few minutes, her eyes are fluttering and she keeps mumbling incoherent words. I've had two other doctors look at her and the three of us could not find anything wrong with her physical state."
"What are you saying April?" Austin desperately looked into her eyes. He had to know what was wrong with Mia.
"I'm saying," she took in a deep breath, "it could be her mental state that is causing her to act this way. The hospital therapist has taken a vacation but I called one of my very good friends, he's a therapist, Harris de Paul. He should be calling me back any moment."
The intercom boomed in the lobby, "Doctor Moore call line six."
"That's him. Wait for me here, this will only take a few minutes." She walked quickly up the hallway towards the front desk.
"This doesn't make any sense." He sat back down, "I don't understand. A therapist? She isn't crazy."
She sat down beside him again, "I don't know Austin, I think Mia has some major things haunting her. It's almost as if she's pleading for some form of attention. Whether it be positive or negative. Have you ever really looked at her in the eyes? Ever tried to read her? When we were fighting over you I did. There's something about her eyes, she looks so lost, looking to be comforted, loved, something and I think that's why she sleeps with so many men, she's looking for comfort even if it's only for a little while." She leaned closer to him.
Before he could respond April came back into the lobby. "He's on his way over now. He's very good, I'm certain he'll be able to get to the bottom of this."
"April can I go see her?" He rose to his feet again.
"Austin I don't know--"
"Please, please let me see her."
She looked into his pleading eyes and shrugged, "fine, but I'm coming with you."
"Wait just one second," he turned towards Laurie and hugged her, "thank you for coming, you can go home. I'll be fine."
"Are you sure?"
He pulled away, "yes, I'm sure."
"Okay, call me if you need me, I don't care how late it is." He nodded and followed April down the hallway. She sighed as he disappeared down the hallway. Go home, go to Philip she coaxed herself. She grabbed her purse and began to walk out of the lobby, but turned back around. Go. She walked out of the lobby.
The Slater Home
"We need to talk." Victoria walked into to her mother's office.
Brad was sitting at Phyllis' desk. He stopped typing and took off his glasses, "about what?"
She checked outside the door, seeing it was clear she shut the door. "Don't pretend not to know." She sat in a chair across from the desk and crossed her legs. "Brad, I don't know what has been coming over me lately, or you for that matter, but whatever it is, it has to stop."
He turned back towards the computer, "it was just a kiss."
She moved forward in her chair, "are you missing the big picture here? You're married to my mother. You're my stepfather, what we did is wrong and it can't happen again. There's not going to be a round three."
He looked back to her, "Victoria, let's not fool ourselves. We're obviously not getting what we need out of our current relationships."
She sat back, "what are you saying?"
"I think you know what I'm saying…"
Laurie's Dorm
Laurie brought her hand to the doorknob and stopped for a moment finding it unlocked. She pushed the door open and stood in the threshold. "Hello?" She placed her keys on the table by the door and flipped on the light. A noise came from her bedroom. "Hello?" She opened the coat closest and grabbed the wooden bat inside. "Is someone in there?" She made her way across the room and in one swift action opened her bedroom door and swung the bat, making contact with only her mattress. She turned around. "Philip?"
"Hi." He said while under a ladder.
"Oh my God, are you okay?" She rushed over to him, "what in the hell were you doing?" She picked up the ladder and set it up against the wall.
"Your, um, light bulb was out, I changed it for you. I was moving the ladder when you came in." He explained, "When you came in swinging I threw myself down, I must have taken the ladder down with me. You've got quite a swing there slugger."
She helped him up, "how did you get in?"
"What do you mean?" He brushed his pants off.
"Philip, I haven't given you a key and I never leave my door unlocked. How did you get in?"
Heaven Beach General Hospital
April and Austin walked into the Mia's hospital room, another doctor approached them. "Doctor Moore, the patient seems to have calmed down. She's still unconscious. I still highly recommend giving her a sedative. I was close to giving her one myself, but you being her doctor, I decided against it."
"Thank you, Scott, Doctor du Paul should be here any moment and once he is through examining her I will put her on a sedative."
Scott shifted his glance from April to Austin, "who's he?"
"He's with me, don't worry about him."
He peered at Austin for a few seconds before nodding, "Let me know if you need me. Here's my report." He handed her a clipboard and walked out of the room.
Austin moved towards the bed but was stopped by a hand on his arm. "Austin, I really have a bad feeling about this, I could get into so much trouble."
"I just want to see her, then I'll leave, I promise."
She let go of him, "okay, make it quick." She turned away and started to review Scott's report.
Austin sat on the bed and gently touched Mia's hand. "Mia," he whispered, "Mia, it's me Austin, are you okay?" She smiled faintly before opening her eyes. "Mia?"
She slowly opened her eyes, when her focus was clear her expression changed drastically. She jerked away from his grasp and slid up against the wall. "N-No." She said softly, she began breathing erratically, "no, get away from me." Her voice becoming louder with each word. She brought her hands up to her head and screamed. "Get away from me! Not again! Help!"
Austin backed away, April rushed to her bedside. "Mia, Mia, its April, calm down. No one's going to hurt you." She wiped Mia's tears, "calm down."
Mia began twitching again, "get him away! Get him away! He'll do it again!" She was screaming at the top of her lungs when Doctor Harris du Paul came running in. "What are you doing? Get him out of here!" Harris grabbed Austin and shoved him out of the room. "My God April, what in the hell are you thinking?"
Le Club Popularie
"Mister Robinson, welcome, will you be sitting at your family's table?" The hostess asked as she reached for a menu.
"No, I am meeting someone." Jacob glanced around the dining area. "And there she is." He strolled off in the direction of the beautiful blonde.
She smiled at the approaching man, holding an unlit cigarette in her hand.
He kissed her cheek and sat across from her. "Cynthia, I see you haven't quit."
"Oh you know me, Jacob, it's so hard for me to resist my bad habits. Give me a light." He reached across the table with a lighter in his hand. She inhaled the fumes and blew them out a few seconds later.
He watched her and smiled, "you make the worst habits look so elegant."
"Do I?" She flicked the ashes into an ashtray. "I see we're operating on southern time Jacob, you better be glad I like you so much, I don't wait for just anyone."
"I know Cynthia, I know." A waiter walked over to their table and took their drink order.
"I heard about that bastard child of yours coming into town. Is that why you called me? Does he need to disappear?" She put out her cigarette and sat back.
"No, these days I have bigger fish to fry. I can take care of Austin myself."
"Oh? Starting to do your own dirty work these days? I'm impressed. So, Jacob, tell me, who is this bigger fish?"
"Cynthia, I'll put it to you like this, it's time my dear brother met his maker…"
