Le Club Populaire
"Hey sweetheart," Noah said, greeting April as he and Simone sat at their booth.
"Hey guys, I already made our drink orders. They'll be here any minute." April explained.
"Great," Simone placed her hand on her husband's leg. She peered at the empty space next to April for a moment. "So, where's the new man?"
She too acknowledged the empty space, "oh, he's probably just running late. And he isn't my man, we've just had a few dates."
"Even still, I can't wait to meet him." Simone replied as the drinks were brought to the table.
"I know you're excited, honey, but try not to scare the man off." Noah sipped his martini.
She slapped his leg, "Noah!"
"What?"
April shook her head, "you two…" Her purse began vibrating, she pulled out her cell phone, "there he is now, excuse me guys," she answered the phone, "Luke, give me a minute."
She walked to the bar and sat on a stool, "okay, what's up?"
Luke Campbell stood in the airport lobby, a ticket in his hand. "April, I really hate to do this, but, I'm leaving Heaven Beach in just a few minutes for Pinőn Hallow. Maggie needs me."
"Pinőn Hallow?" There was a silence as her mind drifted to Kyle. An idea ran through her head and she snapped back to reality, "Luke, take me with you, we don't even have to see each other. I've just got to go there. I have… unfinished business."
"I'm afraid that isn't possible, my flight leaves in ten minutes." He shifted the overnight bag on his shoulder.
"Damn," she muttered. "All right, just call me when you get back to town." She hung up. "God, Kyle, I want to see you so badly…"
Laurie's Dorm
Laurie pulled away from their kiss, "oh God… I can't do this."
"Laurie," he pulled her back towards him and kissed her.
She slightly moaned as she caressed his back with her hands. She moved closer to him, their bodies were completely touching now. Her hands subconsciously moved to his belt buckle, she began tugging at it. She stopped kissing him and moved back, "no. I'm sorry Austin, this shouldn't have happened." She opened the door.
"I want you." He followed her to the door.
"You can't have me." She shut the door behind her and walked briskly down the hallway.
Heaven Beach General Hospital
Kate rushed down the hallway of the E.R., she stopped a nearby doctor. She panted out of breath, "please, please tell me where Demetrius Weiss is. I just got a call saying he was brought in here, he was in a wreck, please, where is his room?" Tears were now pouring out of her eyes.
"Right this way," the doctor lead her into a room, "he has a pretty severe concussion, but other than that, he just has a few minor scrapes and bruises, your son was very lucky, Miss Weiss." With that, the doctor left the room.
Demetrius was still unconscious, she placed her head on his chest, "my brother left you with me because he thought I would be able to take care of you, and this is how I repay him, you could have been killed…"
He opened his eyes, "Kate… I'm sorry." He mumbled.
She looked up at him and hugged him tightly, "don't ever scare me like that again, do you hear me? Where would I be if I lost you? I'd have no family left, I'd be all alone."
"Aunt Kate, I love you." A tear fell down his cheek.
She touched the side of his face, "oh, kiddo, I love you too."
The Slater's Poolhouse
Brad quickly shut the door behind him, "Lydia?" He called out into the darkness.
"Over here," she turned on a low-lit lamp.
"Thank God these fools never come out here, it'll be the perfect meeting place for us." He sat on the couch beside her.
"Give me the rundown of what's going to happen," she said as she reached for the bowl of potato chips. "I raided the fridge and cabinets, I don't think they'll notice."
"As you well know, Phyllis and I were married without a prenuptial agreement, meaning that if I suddenly slap a divorce in her face, I am entitled to half of everything, including power of attorney. We're going to get a quickie divorce, I'll come back with the documents, they'll all be shocked, a lot of 'oh my God's,' 'how could you do this?' kind of bullshit. You know, basically what we've gotten before. Except this one is going to be different."
"How so?" She moved behind Brad and began massaging his shoulders.
"I'm going to freeze all of their accounts and we're going to be staying in Heaven Beach." He gazed forward.
She jolted forward, "what!?"
"I'm tired of being on the run, hey, continue the massage." He waited until she began again, "I'm tired of being on the run and I have become quite attached to this little town. I think it's time we settled down. We'll make enough money off of this scam to be set for life. We can buy an oceanfront house, have kids, do the whole suburban scene."
She cocked her head to the side, "I could get use to the idea."
"It'll be great. This was the perfect plan, it's absolutely flawless." He leaned in for a kiss.
"Unless, she beats you to the punch."
He pulled back, "what?"
"We studied, or well, stalked Phyllis for months, Elliot," she caught herself, "damnit, Brad, the woman's a gold digger, she could very well pull the same stunt on you. And then where will you be?"
"If she does, she'll end up with a whole lot of nothing. Brad Miller died when he was two years old and Phyllis is married to Brad Miller, not Elliot Snyder. And watch those slipups huh? One little mistake like that and our whole plan will be ruined." He rose, "I need to go back to the house, keep up your little personal assistant role and we'll soon have The Slater's on their knees…"
The Slater Home
Victoria walked down the long flight stairs; she had left Trevor asleep in their bedroom. She turned and walked into the kitchen, Kip was sitting on the counter, he quickly stuffed the bag that was in his hand into his pocket, "I thought everyone was asleep." He said uneasily.
She glanced at the clock, nine p.m., "Everyone turned in kind of early didn't they?" She put a kettle full of water on the stove.
"I guess so." He put his head down.
She turned to face him, "Yeah? You want some tea?"
He looked up, "sure."
She hopped up on the counter and sat close beside him. "Something on your mind?"
"No, yes," he shrugged, "I don't know."
She looked at her troubled friend, "What was that you had in your hand before I walked in? Don't think I didn't see it, you can't pull a fast one on ol' Victoria, I know every trick in the book." She nudged him, "come on, you can trust me."
He sighed and reluctantly dug the bag out of his pocket. He handed it to her.
She stared at the plastic bag of pills for a moment, before responding. "Why do you have these Kip?" She asked calmly.
"I'm really not sure," he looked forward, "a thing of the past, I suppose."
She continued to stare at the roofies. "Well, then." She hopped down and walked over to the trash bin, "let's throw the past away, shall we?" She tossed them into the bin. Rubbing her hands she spoke, "Kip, take a word of advice, from me, don't dwell in the past. I've done it for years. You've got to learn to move on. The past is the past, so leave it there."
"What happened to you that you had to dwell on it so much?" He questioned.
The kettle began hissing on the stove. She took in a deep breath, "let's save that story for another day, besides our tea is ready."
Austin's Dorm
Austin walked into his dorm, now more confused than ever.
"You've got a message," Ethan proclaimed, bringing a half-gallon of ice cream with him into the living room.
Austin shrugged and hit play on the answering machine, "April-its Kyle, I'm so, so, I'm so sorry. Ya know, I just make mistakes right? They go on, and on, I did it with you. Now," he was silent for a long moment, and Ethan had focused his attention solely on the man's voice. "Austin, why does this guy keep calling you April?"
"More importantly, who's Kyle?" The man continuing interrupting him, "I did it with Trista, now she's on some stupid reality TV show looking for love. If I could take it back, and not have ruined things with you I would. You taught me to love and I took it for granted."
"Trista… Reality show," Ethan thought for a moment, "Love and Honor! Trista's one of the contestants on it. I'm actually pulling for Ophelia."
"Ethan, what are you talking about?" he asked still staring at the answering machine.
"It's this TV show, it's similar to some of the classics, you know, like The Bachelor, but this one has some new twists. It's great." He glanced at his watch, "oh shit, dude, it's on!" He grabbed the remote and turned the television on.
Wink Montana's gleaming face introduced Trista Silversky, who was the next contestant up for questioning.
"There's our Trista." Austin said, leaning up against the couch.
"Yeah, what a hottie." He was near drooling at the close up image of Trista.
Austin's thoughts drifted, he put the clues together, "I've got it! Kyle is April's ex-boyfriend that left on New Year's." He grabbed his phone, "what's Simone's cell number?"
Without looking, Ethan tossed him his cell phone, "she's on my phonebook," he muttered quickly. Still staring at Trista.
Le Club Populaire
"Don't answer that," Noah said to his wife, "we've had enough interruptions."
"Let me see who it is," She looked at the window on her phone, "it's Ethan." She pressed a button, "hey Ethan, what's up?"
"It's actually Austin, listen, I need April's home number. Someone left a message for her, on my phone, it's all very strange."
She took a minute to make sure she had heard him correctly, "That is strange, but she's right here, do you want to talk to her?"
"Yeah, thanks."
Simone handed April the phone, "it's Austin."
"Hello?" She said, caught off guard.
"Hey April, listen to this message," he pressed play and put the phone up to the speaker.
Tears formed in her eyes as she heard her first love's voice on the phone. "Thank you Austin." She said at the conclusion of the message.
"Who was it?" Noah asked as he took a sip from his drink.
"It was Kyle," she wiped her eyes and chuckled, "he sounded a little toasted, he must have hit some wrong numbers." She stood up, "excuse me guys, I need to go home."
Florida State Women's Penitentiary
Felicia picked up the pay phone and dialed Natasha's cell.
"For God's sake Felicia, I haven't even left Tampa yet!" Natasha spat out.
"Pleasant greetings to you too, there's been a change of plans, you're not going to call in a favor to get me out of jail, oh no, you're going to break me out of this godforsaken place."
She spat out her champagne, "excuse me? Felicia have you completely lost all sanity?"
"No, for once, I am completely sane. I want my enemies to pay, and I don't want them tipped off, in the least. You're not going to tell anyone about this, understood?"
"Felicia, honey, if you break out of jail, it'll be all over the news, I think Elizabeth and whoever else will figure out where you're headed."
She touched her forehead and shrugged, "that's where a body double comes in Natasha! My God," she hit the side of the pay phone, "listen, we're going to put a body double in here. You're going to get me out of here and take me to Heaven Beach, where you won't tell anyone I'm there and I'll be free to carry out my revenge, is it that hard to understand?" She shouted, loosing all cool, she slammed the phone to the receiver. She took in a long, relaxing breath. "Stay calm, Felicia, soon everyone will pay for what they did to you. Even Kyle, I've just got to find out where he moved to in Colorado."
In her limo, Natasha poured herself another glass of champagne, "prison sure has gotten to Felicia, that woman is nutty as a damned fruitcake!"
The Robinson Home
"I'll meet you upstairs," Simone placed her keys on the table and thumbed through the mail.
"All right," Noah walked up the stairs.
A small white envelope written in red permanent marker caught her attention. She peered at her name written on it. "What the--" she slowly opened it and pulled out the letter. "Oh my God…"
The letter and Simone dropped to the floor, in red bold letters stared at Simone. Simone, something wicked this way comes...
The letter became blurry and the room began spinning as her head made a quiet thud on the hardwood floor.
