What happened you ask?
I softly whisper
I waited and I cried
All hope vanished like ashes in the wind
Time went by and the days turned into weeks
No longer waiting upon what you called love.

What happened you ask?
I softly answer you
You're a stranger to me now
The sound of your voice is gone
Time went by and the weeks turned into months
Dreams became memories of what you called love.

What happened you ask?
I gently answer
I watched winter turn into springtime
Spring became summer then the colors of autumn
With each falling leaf time silently moved on.
I lived through seasons and seasons passed.

What happened you ask?
I firmly reply
Hopes of love returning vanished like the wind
Leaving behind a stronger woman
Seasons passed and I now face each day
with the truth of knowing what never happened.

I embrace now the Spirit of Autumn

as I wave goodbye

to the Seasons without Love.

'And all you touch and all you see,
is all your life will ever be.'
