I Can

You can't do this-you can't do that
I've heard throughout the years.
You don't know how-how can you?
Words can cause such tears.

All my life I've been told
women can only depend on men.
All my life I've believed it
and wondered why and when?

Why I felt I wasn't good enough?
When would I ever see??
That a woman can do anything
If she sets her limits free.

If she opens her heart and mind
That were imprisoned by mere words.
If she'll forget what people say
Forget the doubts she's heard.

People often underestimate
what a woman can truly do.
When she sets her sights high
and take steps to see it through.

She can conquer her self-doubt
She can conquer all her fears.
Opportunities unforseen
suddenly seem to appear.

A whole new world awaits
for the women who only try.
If they'll forget the "I Can'ts"
and the fears they should deny.

The next time you hear those words
Or  when doubts get in your way...
Face your fears and tell them
"I can't" are words I no longer say.
