Midnight Snack
One night
after a midnight snack
I decided
was time for bed.
I looked
at the pizza crumbs nearby
Forget the
diet I said!
I rambled
around yawning
I glanced
up at the clock
I stared
at the crumbs leftover
now
as hard as a rock.
Disgusted
at myself I mumbled
Then reached
to pick up the plate
I figured
I'd toss em outside
Or the roaches
would have a debate.
I headed down
the hallway
Then opened
the door you see
A few steps
down aimed the plate
Then saw
somethin starin at me!!!
I thought
to myself what is that!?
For my yellow
cat this ain't
I saw its'
fur that was black and white
And I thought
I was gonna faint!?!
The beady
eyes stared up at me
As my hand
had froze mid air
I saw the
striped tail of this critter
And I saw
his beady stare.
I thought
to myself OH LORDY
This IS
a
SKUNK
that
I see!?!
I didn't
have a clue what to do!
I thought
to myself "Why ME!?"
We locked
eye to eye a few feet apart
I watched
pizza crumbs falling down
I told myself
just don't MOVE!!!!
And LORD
don't make NO sound!
The skunk
spotted the pizza crumbs
He looked
up and sniffed the air
I thought
that I'd faint dead away
I thought
this just ain't FAIR!?!
The skunk
must have been hungry
For he moved
closer to take a bite
Then I decided
to make a run for it
I glanced
back at the lights.
With that
I leaped like a bullfrog
Clearing
3 steps at a time
Slammed the
door behind me
As I landed
safely inside.
I thought
I'd smell an angry skunk
So I glanced
outside in the hall
But the skunk
was chowin on pizza
He hadn't
moved at all!?!
So next time
I have pizza
Or midnight
snacks or junk
I won't go
tossin no crumbs outside
To feed my
hungry skunk!
