Beneath Angels' Wings

Women cry out..
Are there others like me??
Women hurting so badly
that want to be free.

Free from the past
Of heartache and pain..
Free from their torment
That they can't explain.

Abuse was the accuser
That scarred them inside..
Their pain they did carry
While guarding their pride.

Feeling shamed and abandoned
Feeling desperately alone
The memories overwhelming
Engraved to the bone.

Not wanting to be pitied
Not wanting sympathy
Only striving for compassion
and love that was free.

Love without demands
Love without shame..
Love that was real
Love without games.

Somehow in their darkness
Alone in the night..
They realize a presence
Unknown they must fight.

But angels reach down
When others run away..
They guard and shield lives
They never betray.

A presence around you
A presence unknown..
Touching your heartache
Encouraging you on.

So hold your head high
Let go of your fear.
For angels surround you
Your life they hold dear.

You may have been abused
You may have been scarred..
But your life was protected
although it seemed hard.

Just remember always
Whatever life brings
You've always been sheltered
Beneath angels' wings.
