In Humbolthain Park is the remains of one of the 3 massive Flak Towers or Anti-Aircraft Towers. The towers were also used as air raid shelters and each could hold up to 18,000 people. Only two remain, the other is in Friedrichshain park. Both were partially demolished and buried under at the end of the war. The Humbolthain tower is the best preserved.

The tower still shows the effects of Soviet artillery.
