The Prophet's Household

The Prophet (peace be upon him) had 15 wives within his lifetime. Of these wives some died in the lifetime of the Prophet; others survived him. Many of them were widows, some twice over. Many were free women; some were slaves being prisoners of war, although set free; one although a slave was not a prisoner of war. Some were of the tribe of Quresh; some were from the rest of Arabia; one was from Ajom.

Of course they were of different ages , of different looks, of different capabilities, of different backgrounds. He was Just and kind to every one of them; and in many instances he married them to help them.

What purposes the marriages served.

What Did he marry for?
