Delta - [Eagle Press] In the beginning of the activity of the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana the airplanes carried exclusively Italian insignia, in spite of the heavy dependance on German commands. It is also well known that the Luftwaffe was more than once tempted to incorporate fully the Italian units, that had often received their training and equipment in Germany. It is interesting to notice the variation in the heraldry through a short photo gallery: in the above one we see a Centauro photographed in spring 1944.

In the third photo the metamorphosis is by now complete! Nothing allows to distinguish this aircraft from another belonging to the Luftwaffe: there is even a swastika painted on the tailplane.
A case apart is constituted by the CANT Z. 1007 and SM81, the latter belonging to the "Terracciano" Transport Group that operated on the Western Front with German insignia for identification necessity (see below).
