He was born in 1936 in a little town situated in the south-eastern part of Sicily. He began using this unusual artistic technique (pyrography or pokerwork) in 1990 during his spare time, improving his stylistic skills little by little and with growing passion.

Up to now he has created more than 200 works, part of which are shown in this gallery.

The most esteemed value in Roberto Spada is the ability of merging together precision skills and clearness of image. His favourite subjects are faces of the past, portraited by old photographs or images, as well as famous artistic works and nature.

His deep and fully-exploited knowledge of the tool, the poker, enables him to create real incisions on wood, or even, according to different points of view, photographs and pictures.
