A great man once said, “I don’t want to write a paper about the relationships

between men and women!” That man, was me.  However, it seems that I must write a

paper about the complicated interactions between men and women, so I shall start by

saying this: Throughout the ages, Men have strived to live up to the conduct of chivalry.

Why do we do this?  Why is it that young boys dream of saving the Princess and

sweeping her off her feet?  History would have us believe that women, were helpless

up until the 1900’s. We learn that women must be saved by knights from the evils of

the world.  Yet George Bernard Shaw tries to tell us that women are strong and have

always been so.  Is the quote ‘Behind each successful man, is a successful women’

true? Is a man truly the king of the castle, or does the queen play an important role?

Isn’t it interesting, that there is a Queen of England, but no king?  Women are indeed

strong hearted, and just as equal in every respect as man, so why must we protect

them? Is it because we love them so much, we can not bear to let harm befall them.  As

soon as a gust of wind sways up, must we hold them tightly in our arms, for we fear

they should get a chill.  Who are we trying to make better, them or ourselves.  We boast

to being the stronger sex, but wouldn’t we ache with loneliness if separated from our

women for a lengthy time.   My opinion, is that men and women are both emotionally

equal, and though men may pose as the protectors and saviors, they may at times

need to be protected and saved themselves.  Both sexes require and deserve

pampering and luxery.  I have nothing to write now. There obviously wasn’t enough

time for this project. Look at me, just sitting here and typing whatever comes into my

head.  This doesn’t even have anything to do with relationships between men and

women.  Thank goodness this isn’t an actual essay, but then again it isn’t a creative

writing assignment either.  Can you actually take off marks because I’m writing this? I

think not. As long as I use some of this space to write about men and women, I’ll be

okay.  I believe that some men protect women from the world, and some women

protect men but there is also a large group of men and women who protect each other

or don’t need protection.  How does one define love?  Is love truly the ultimate

relationship between men and women? Don’t we all strive for love no matter what sex

we are?  I am but fifteen years old, and when told to write about relationships, I am not

sure what to say.  Some of the eldest, wisest people in the world, don’t know the true

relationships, so how can I be expected to? I am but a humble student, finding my

place in the world. Looking for love, striving to achieve chivalry.  As I travel the world

and explore situations, I will begin to see a bigger picture. Slowly, the pieces shall start

to fit together and one day, when I reach my wisest point, I shall rise to the mountain

peaks and exclaim to the world, “Yes. There is an answer! People of the world, hear

me! I have uncovered the simple truth explaining the relationships between men and

women. And that answer is...” Alas, I have no answer now. But as i travel down the

road of life, I shall tell one and all the profound truths that add pieces to the eternal

puzzle. One day we shall have an answer.
