Patient: Combat
Breed: Old English sheepdog
Age: 20 years

Problem: Combat's owner needs to get up in the middle of the night to let her out to pee. They are worried it may be time to put Combat to sleep.

Solution: The fact that Combat gets her owner to let her out shows that her bladder control is still functioning and that she still has her wits about her. A urine test shows her kidneys are fine.

As is normally the case with old dogs, Combat is quite blind. But this old star dog, famous for starring on 80s show It's a Knockout, still has quite a lot of life [in] her -- even at the amazing age of 20.

A doggie door may help solve the problem of having to get up in the middle of the night. Dr Harry also subscribed [sic] anabolic steroids, which should give her much-needed strength in the front legs. Of course, these means racing at the dog track is out of the question.

At this point it may be appropriate to do some 'now and then' comparisons.

I think Combat has aged quite well over the 14 years (98 dog-years, bringing his total age to 140 dog-years). Thanks to Dr. Harry, Combat is now taking drugs with abuse potential too! Back to IAK and The It's a Knockout Web in the Media
