The pro's and con's of the Rampart.
Playing with the Rampart in smaller maps requires a completely different strategy than in larger maps. Relatively cheap at first, the Rampart gets very expensive when you consider to go for Green- Gold Dragons. With one great ranged attacker, two flying creatures and one fast cavalry-type creature, the Rampart would seem a top town. It is a good town, but several creatures are too slow to be used in an attacking army. Dwarves and Dendroids are fine soldiers but both too slow to be of offensive use. Pegasi on the other hand are fast, but lack healthpoints and die fast. In large maps you usually keep the Dragons, the Unicorns and the Elves, (perhaps the Pegasi and the Centaurs if you still have some left) and the rest of your army comes from an other towntype.
