Christine Trivia

Christine was a 1958 Plymouth Fury. In 1958 they made only very small number of those Furys and they have since become collector's items. There were 13 or 16 (depending on source) '58 Furys smashed in the making of the movie, and it infuriated Plymouth enthusiasts.

In the original Stephen King book the car had 4 doors, but it was changed to a 2 door model when it was realized that there never was a 4 door 1958 Plymouth Fury.

In the beginning Of Cat's Eye (IMDB) (The Stephen King Movie) the cat is nearly run over by a red '59 Plymouth Fury. The above information has been up for quite a while, and now I find there are some errors in it. Mike has kindly e-mailed me with some interesting and comprehensive info on Christine :

The car in the beginning of Cat's Eye is a 1958 Fury, not a 1959.
I rented the car to the movie company.
In truth, Christine was a 1958 Belvedere with a 350 cu. in. Golden Commando engine option. Yes, the engine with the dual fours and 350 cu. in. on the valve covers was a 1958 plymouth engine and not a small block chevy. Furys only came in Buckskin beige with annodized gold trim including the grille. The grille "V" was silver on Furys.
Christine on the other hand had annodized silver trim with a gold grille "V". This was the trim for a Belvedere.
If you look close when the car in Cat's Eye drives away, it smokes a little. The engine in that car was in dire need of valve stem seals.
