The music for the film was composed and performed by John Carpenter, he uses a pseudonym in the credits.
During the film amonitor flashes with the message "F' You Harris", supposedly in reference to the producer Jack Harris.
Carpenter and O'Bannon are rumoured to have sabotaged the sound recordings to force Harris to provide more expensive sound facilities.
Many scenes were added to the film because the producers wanted it to be longer. A lot of these scenes have been removed from the directors cut, such as the bedroom scene with the playboy posters.
These posters are intentionally blurred in the scene.
When the rogue bomb number 20 emerges from the bomb bay you can see a guy sticking his tongue out on the monitor.
After the ship blows up, one of the pieces of debris reads "Toilet Tank THX 1138 (1970)" a reference to the George Lucas film of the same name.
