You need to find your tattoo image. In this case I chose "Jack's Art Circus".
Originally it was to large and flat. I had to Resample or Resize it and then change the perspective. To be on the safe side I also converted the image to a "RGB(24-bit)". I did this from the drop down menu "Image" then to "Convert to".
While "Resample or Resize" I also changed the Horizontal Resolution to 75dpi and the vertical resolution to 75dpi. This made both images 75dpi and more compatible.
Once I changed the perspective to match the shape of the face/body I wanted to put it on I had extra color and had to fill with white. I also had to change my "HSB" to "3" from "100" to keep from filling the entire picture. PERSPECTIVE is found under "Effect - 3D Effects - Perspective."

The original tattoo image before I resample/resized it and changed the perspective. I also converted it to a RGB(24-Bit) |
To get the tattoo to the photograph I first opened both images on the same screen. I then had to make sure the tattoo was active (making it the dark blue one). I then:
1. Chose the rectangular/square mask tool
2. Mask the tattoo
3. Went to "Edit" at the top and down to "Copy". The image is now on the clip board (invisible).
4. Then I activated (made active by clicking on it) the portrait.
5. Went to "Edit" at the top and down to "Paste as new object"
6. Used the move tool to move the tattoo to the correct spot.
IMPORTANT: You probably will have to click on the mask icon or some other icon to continue because some programs will not allow you to continue if an object is picked with the "handles". Notice that you are not going to use this Icon you are just getting out of the "pick handles".
7. Clicked on the "Objects Roll Up" icon
8. Locked the background.
9. Merged "If Darker"
10. Changed Opacity to "61"
Below is a copy of the screen with the Objects Roll Up box selected with Corel Photo Paint. Also a completed (converted to color - resized - perspective added) tattoo.
NOTE: There are many, many variables when dealing with objects/layers. This is just a method of getting you started. Experiment, Experiment if you want to be competent with them.
Your job for the next three class periods is to use the objects tool (and others that are needed) to put a proper sized, properly colored, with proper perspective tattoo on a flesh photograph in an appropriate spot.
