Christianity is a faith in the one Lord Jesus Christ and it is important that we come to Him in humbleness and with a sincere heart, as well as thinking deeply on the Word of God with our minds. Romans 12:2 (NKJV) says, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." I've been thinking what I want this web page to be and I would greatly desire that it would be a ministry to those who want to discuss facets of their faith as it comes to worship, devotions, theology, engaging the culture, you name it. I have some of my insights from years past below and I will be editing the page in the coming months. If you want to e-mail me, you may gladly do so at jacqueshock@hotmail.com ________________________________________________________ The Role of Tradition in Theology November 24, 2003 -- This is a paper written by one of my former professors at Bryan College, delivered at the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society. It is very "rough" because I do not think yahoo/geocites has a way to make Greek font possible, so what I'll do is sometime in the future go through it and transliterate the Greek words so that people don't have to see other marks of punctuation (like semi-colons) in there. I also was not able to get the footnotes in, but I will try to do that as well. My Thoughts December 16, 2002 -- This is a paper I wrote for my Christian Theology class on the inspiration of Scripture. I did quite a bit of research for it and as a result, was given a good grade by my instructor. This paper only touches lightly on the subject of inspiration because I was limited to between 2,000 - 2,500 words. It looks at how inspiration took place and why Scripture is considered "God-breathed" in the first place. My Thoughts July 23, 2002 -- Not many people have heard of the Gospel of Thomas, but it is a reality and one that has stirred quite a bit of controversy since its discovery. In my paper, I attempt to answer some of the questions surrounding this document using reliable resources and a desire that people know the truth about it. My Thoughts May 2, 2002 -- Is the Mormon church really the true church? In this edition of "My Thoughts", I answer each of the LDS' 17 Points of the True Church in order to demonstrate Mormonisms' misapplication of certain Scriptures to uphold its man-made theology. It is my hope and prayer that any mormon who reads it will not turn away from the truth, but will embrace the One who is called "the Truth", and be saved.
