Advice for beginner in herbalism |
If you wish to learn or practice herbalism , you should know you have a lot of work to do.Before buying anything including book , go to the library and try to find a book on herbalism. If after your reading you are sure you want to practice , begin slowly to buy things you will need(simple and no expensive tools ).I suggest you to not use herb that can be potentially dangerous ( see the list ).Start with something easy like an herbal tea. After a time, try something more complicated like a tincture or a balm..In your reading you must learn all this : the herbs (english and latin name ) and which are dangerous , how to identify them , their property , different preparation , dosage to use , ethic , different term and their meaning , manner to dry herb and of course recipe. If you miss a point here , you should read more because it's important to know in all detail what you do to avoid injure , harm or poison your self.Nobody want to be poison. You will never read enough. If you want to take a course , be sure that all element I mention will be present .Don't pay 200$ for it , you can buy good books for a lower price . I you have any question, you can e-mail me or go in the bibliography for some good adress. If I can't answer to your question , I will refer you to someone who can. Recommendations If you you wish to buy your herb in a shop , the english and latin name must be wrote on the label of the package.Be sure of the place you buy it and don't be afraid to ask questions.Don't forget to store your little bag in a cool and dark place.Same recommendation for those who grow their own herb.Start with a small garden.Remember , a big garden require a lot and a lot of work.Use the right manner to dry your herb or the property will be affect.Never forget the most important thing , to like what you do. |
