| Basically , paganism is a group of polytheist religion.All this religion whorship the nature.For people which practice it , theirs no true way ( or theirs no true path )which mean two person can practice the same religion and have is own manner to practice it and it's very normal and ok.Everyone have a different point of view and a manner to do it .Everyone practice differently , it's a reason why paganism is a very complex religion.A peculiarity of paganism is everyone is equal and theirs no hierarchy , (except for some path a kind of hierarchy exist).It's not a sect , people which practice it don't believe in satan and don't have a gourou.People whorship the nature , mother earth which give to us a place to live and something to eat every day without conditions.For these people , all life is sacred.The myth and stereotype on practioner are not true .Witches don't eat children , pagan don't do orgy , they are not old and ugly , they never killed anyone and don't cast a spell on you for fun.Every tradition or path have an ethic , they respect people and assume the consequence of their act ,for the best or for the worst.In the old time , paganism was the only religion practice by everyone ..Slowly , it disappear because a new religion outstrip it : catholicism .Catholic want to be the only one and forced people to forgot the old tradition and convert them.Real pagan don't have a problem with catholic but they have a problem with the fact that catholic (in the old time) said they were the only good way and didn't accept other .Another thing to remember is in Egypt and ancient Rome ( both have a polytheist religion )slowly became monotheist..So , slowly the paganism disappear and reappear in the 21th century.It never totally disappear , but after the period call the "burning time" (when people was burned , tortured and killed because they practice withcraft or ancient tradition) paganism was probably practice in silence and secret .Of course it's not exactly what it was in the old time.Now in year 2002 , paganism is a legal religion and people are free to practice it.To know more on legality of practicing , you can go to the page legality.Pagan(name give to a person which practice paganism)honnor life , mother earth ,believe in a god and a goddess or in many divinity , they use the energy around them (it's basically how they do magick) and practice magick..Yes people can cast a spell but not to killed or harm you , they want to help and to cure.They don't play with life of people,never.Yes they can do some bad thing , it's happend in the past and will happend again.It's a personnal choice but they assume the consequences.Nobody is perfect.In the old time , pagan was not only witches , but they were healer , soothsayer , use divination or just honnor the goddess..We are people like all other people , we just choose to practice the ancient tradition exactly like our ancestor.We respect your choice so please , respect ours and don't try to convert us. |
