Short glossary for some of the Japanese terms I use on this site. If I've forgotten one, just write and ask!

| anime | short for animation; the word has come to mean Japanese animated film |
| arigatou | thank you |
| bishoujo | beautiful girl |
| bishounen | pretty young man (like Zoisite) |
| cosplay | from 'costume play' - dressing up as your fav anime character |
| -chan | suffix added to children, younger girls and cute/small things |
| chibi- | little, small |
| demo | but |
| densetsu | legend |
| doujinshi, dj | fandrawn manga |
| Ginzuisho | Silver Crystal |
| gomen, gomen ne | sorry, forgive me |
| hai | yes |
| Hikawa-jinji | The shrine of the Fire River, where Rei lives |
| hime(-sama) | princess |
| himitsu | secret |
| itai, ite | ouch! |
| kamen | mask (as you put on your face) |
| kawaii | cute, adorable |
| Kinzuisho | the Golden Crystal |
| manga | Japanese comic | miko | priestess, shrine maiden (as in Jadeite no Miko!) |
| nani, nanda te? | what, huh? |
| ne | small word you add into sentences, like the english right? or isn't it? |
| no | intones possesion, like the 's in English. Jadeite no sakkaku - Jadeite's illusion |
| ou(-sama) | king |
| ouji(-sama) | prince |
| senshi | warrior |
| sakkaku | illusion |
| sakura | cherry (blossoms) |
| sanskrit | ancient Indian language |
| Shitennou | Four Heavenly Kings |
| -sama | very high honorific; Zoisite addresses Kunzite so |
| -san | courteous suffix, the one you normally use |
| sensei | teacher, doctor, master |
| tsuki | moon |
| usagi | rabbit |
| yaoi | said to mean "stop it, my ass hurts!". Indicates homosexual content (in fics, images, sites) |
| youma | monsters/demons used by the Dark Kingdom |
| yume | dream |
