Alliance By Jadell |
"Bane is not capable of turning so wantenly against fellow Lycans without good reason!" Jadell announced coldly to the Elven court. "If these foul things have been done at his hand, you can be sure there is ample reason for it beyond the magic of the Ent blood given to heal him." "Lady Jadell, I know that you love your husband and do not wish to believe such foul things of him but the evidence.." Jadell ruthlessly cut the elven ambassador off. "I am EMPORESS Jadell and I would suggest that you remember that fact! The Lycan Empire has saved the Elves on more then one occasion. You will give us the courtesy of time to look into this foul tale!" "Emporess Jadell, is quite correct!" Lady Aleutin sternly silenced the outraged Elven court. "We did not use every magic at our disposal to save Lord Bane from his wounds, only to convict him of foul crimes at the merest whisper of a rumor." Jadell relax only slightly at the Elven Queens words. "Thank you, Queen Aleutin, you will have no cause to regret your support, I assure you." "We have long been friends Jadell. I have no doubt that you will attend to this matter with all the speed and fairness for which you are so well known, even amongst the Elves. How do you intend to proceed and is there anyway in which I may help?" Lady Aleutin smiled softly at her old friend. Jadell reguarded the Elven Queen silently for a few moments. "I think you know what I must do Aleutin. All my reaserch into the foul creatures that infest both our lands leads me to only one place. A place that a young elven princess and a young raven student of magic and sword play once happened upon in the foolish adventures of youth." "Leave us!" Queen Aleutin ordered the Elven court, somewhat abruptly. As the two rulers stood silently waiting for the room to clear, neither of them failed to notice the startled looks of curiosty, with which many of the elven court regarded the two ladies. "You cannot truely intend to return to caverns, Jadell? You know it may very well mean your death." Lady Aleutin, began to pace the length of the room. "I have no choice, Aleutin. You know the magic that lies there undesturbed. Those books and artifacts may hold this worlds only true hope of ridding us all of these foul creatures. Mistake me not old friend, there is no doubt in my mind that every kingdom in this world will fall to these creatures if we do not destory them or drive them back to the abyss." Jadell stood, with a hand on each of the two swords she carried. "You cannot go alone. You must find Bane and take him with you. I know the power you possess and you are without a doubt one of the most powerful magic users of our time, even more powerful then myself perhaps, but magic alone will not be enough for what you plan." "You forget, I do not go armed with magic alone." "You are splitting hairs, Jadell. I know your skills as a ranger are equal to your skills with magic." Aleutin chuckled. "I should know, I taught them to you myself...or at least many of them. Never the less going alone is shear folly. Our exploration of the caverns nearly killed us both. The traps we sprung are gone, yes, but you know that many remain.' "Bane has his own plans. I have learned not to second guess them. He will reveal his own intentions in his own time. I trust him implicitly. I could find him, yes. However I think that would be a mistake." "You can not go alone!" Aleutin stated firmly. "Then go with me." Aleutin swung around to stare wide eyed at Jadell..."Go with you?" "Certainly. It is not only the Lycan Empire that is in perril. The destruction of the dragons has proven that beyond doubt. The storm hovers over your own kingdom is proof that Elves too will be attacked. Can you with stand silveron any easier then a lycan? Can the dwarves? The humans? The gnomes?" Jadell met her old friends gaze without wavering. "Two against the Caverns? We tried that once before." Aleutin mused almost to herself, somewhat surprised that she was even considering Jadells proposal. "Yes we did...We have friends...old comrades that we have not seen face to face in many years."' "You are proposing an alliance that has been tried before...tried and failed." Aleutin answered almost hopefull that Jadell could give her one reason that such an alliance might work this time. Jadell smiled and did not dissappoint her..."Yes it has..by males." To be continued. Jadell NightSong |
