TVB's annual beauty pageant are always popular. It is from these events that new talents are discovered, where the new stars are given the chance to make themselves a household name. In 1986, two of the contestants, Wong Yee Gum and Cheung Yim Fong (both in the middle)were given the chance to explore their talents. After the pageant, they made many series, which included "Grand Canal 1987" with Tony Leung and Idy Chan.
