We Love as One – Chapter 4

Without wanting to give away the story, season 1, episode 7 went differently in the end.
Jacob dialed the co-ordinates on the DHD that would take, the Tok’ra guards carrying Martouf’s body and himself to another Tok’ra base. He surreptitiously wiped the sweat on his palms as he knew what he was about to do. Silently wondering why Selmac was so silent at what he was planning to do.
He wondered if anyone at the Tok’ra base wondered where he had gone earlier that day and hoped that doing so hadn’t caused any suspicion. He had to pull this off perfectly. He patted his side to make sure that he had brought a zat and a mask and the receiver he had placed in his pocket.
After the wormhole had engaged, Jacob motioned for the two guards carrying Martouf to enter first. They did so, not anticipating any trouble as they were only headed to another Tok’ra base. Jacob entered right after, but not before pulling the receiver out of his pocket, hand poised over the button.
As soon as Jacob hit the other side, he pressed the button and dived for cover. The Tok’ra guards of course, being in front of Jacob and climbing down the steps had no warning as they were suddenly hit by small sharp laser blasts from the Tacluchnatagamuntorons or TACS that Jacob had set in place earlier. He had rigged them so that he could activate and de-activate them with a push of a button from the receiver he held.
Jacob waited breathlessly for a minute before cautiously peeking around the rock he had hidden behind. It hurt and made him feel guilty as hell that he had to do this to fellow Tok’ra, but he needed to do it. Pressing the button on his receiver, he de-activated the TACS, tossing a small rock into the air to check whether they were actually off. Didn’t want to be knocked unconscious before he’d completed what he had to do.
Quickly, he dashed to the DHD and dialed a planet he had never been to, but SG-1 had. As the wormhole activated, Jacob shoved a small letter of instruction inside the pocket of Martouf’s uniform, lifted Martouf up in his arms, thanking Tok’ra strength and sent him through the Stargate, hoping and praying he arrived safely (although Martouf *was* dead, so let’s just say arrived) and that the inhabitants SG-1 had met and befriended were still living on the planet and that seeing Martouf would help him.
Waiting for the Stargate to shut down, Jacob stood in the exact same spot he stood in when he arrived. Bracing himself, he re-activated the TACS and gingerly took a small step forward. As the TACS honed in on his position and fired, Jacob used his zat to evaporate the receiver. Immediately afterwards, he fell unconscious rolling down the steps, knowing that when he and the Tok’ra guards didn’t arrive on time, they would send out search parties.

Elsewhere, the peaceful inhabitants of a planet where alerted to incoming visitors to their world as the ‘doorway’ activated. One of them waved a hand and the inhabitants as well as the flying species around them disappeared.

A day later, Jacob strolled out of the meeting chamber that he had frequented in the past few days and headed to another chamber; ironically, it too was a meeting chamber, only smaller in size and more informal.
He had once again been questioned by the High Council about the events that had taken place yesterday on route to the other Tok’ra base and the fact that Martouf’s body was missing. That he so viciously opposed the dissection of Martouf, he, of course, was the prime suspect. But they couldn’t prove a thing; Jacob knew it and they knew it. He’d just have to ride low for awhile.
His chest wound had healed, thanks to Selmac, and he was back in the Tok’ra base, having returned from Lytien and leaving behind both concerned and miffed Tok’ra, miffed meaning Anise. Damn butcher floozy.
He was on his way to meet Elias. Jacob grimaced as he thought about Lantash’s new host. It’d be odd to see Lantash without Martouf and Lantash would’ve undoubtedly heard that his former host, Martouf, had mysteriously disappeared. There would indeed be many questions.
But that could wait. Jacob was to fetch the Tok’ra accompanying him to Earth on this scientific/research mission to be joined by SG-1. He had hand-picked the group: Malek and Korra. Malek, he knew, was familiar with SG-1 and for the most part, got along well. Korra, as he understood was a good friend of Rosha and Jolinar before their passing and valued his Sammy as a good friend as well. The request from the High Council to allow Elias to join their team threw Jacob off and he couldn’t figure out their motivation. All he knew was that while they wanted Elias to go along, (claiming he was a scientist before being blended); none of the Tok’ra were allowed to reveal Lantash’s identity.
Jacob shook his head as he turned into the room and caught his first glimpse of Lantash’s host. Elias was tall with black hair and grey eyes. He stood comfortably, talking with Korra and Malek.
Jacob clapped his hands to get their attention. “Okay boys, you’ve all been briefed about what our mission is right? Purely a cake-walk, the Tok’ra and SG-1 are going to conduct a little research. The planet we’re going to is rumored to have loads of unknown technology that even the Goa’uld haven’t touched.”
Malek raised an eyebrow questioningly. “Cake-walk, Jacob?”
Jacob sighed. “Never mind. There’s only thing I gotta add to this impromptu meeting. On direct orders from the High Council, we are not allowed to divulge the fact that Elias here,” Jacob nodded a greeting to the new host who smiled and nodded back. “Is host to Lantash. I know, I know,” Jacob raised a hand as he saw the puzzled looks on Korra and Malek’s faces and Elias opening his mouth to argue. “I don’t know why; they just don’t want anyone to know yet. Got it? Good. Let’s go.” Jacob turned and headed to the ring transporter and the Stargate, followed by Malek, Korra, and Elias.
