We Love as One – Epilogue

Disclaimer in Index

I know nothing about military regulations and rules!

“Times like these, I wish I hadn’t gotten out of bed.” Sam muttered as she tied the rope securely around her waist as she stood near the edge of a small ravine.

Martouf smirked lightly as he helped her handle the rope. “I would agree with you, Samantha, however, we are here and Daniel is in need of help.” He refrained from kissing her as they were on a mission and off-world. It would not be seen as appropriate to show affection at that time.

“Have you the healing device, Colonel Carter?” Teal’c asked as he kept a vigilant eye on his fallen teammate down at the bottom of the ravine. Though it was slightly inappropriate to call her Colonel, it was easier to say it than Lieutenant Colonel Carter all the time.

Sam padded her vest pockets and said, “Yep, got it.” SG-1 now carried with them the healing and ribbon device as part of their standard equipment. After all, with Martouf on their team now, he could use the healing device a lot more and he had been teaching Sam how to hone her control on it. “Have you secured the other end of the rope?” She asked Martouf.

He nodded. “Yes, I have. Teal’c will keep watch while I lower you down.” Martouf picked up the rest of the rope and held it loosely in his hands, giving Sam some slack as she moved over to the edge. As she stepped up to the edge, she faced Martouf, with her back to the edge. Grabbing the rope firmly in her hands, she smiled and shook her head. “Be careful.” Martouf said, love and tenderness in his grey eyes before they flashed and Lantash took over, giving her a brisk nod. “Proceed.”

Sam took a small jump and planted her feet confidently on the side of the ravine, alternating between small jumps downward and walking down the side of the ravine to reach Daniel at the bottom, who had accidentally fallen down the side and sprained his ankle.

It had been two months since Martouf had joined SG-1 and so far, there had been no major conflicts except for sporadic bouts of jealousy whenever someone from off-world took an interest in either Sam or Martouf, the occasional over-protectiveness of Martouf and Lantash, and infrequent arguments between Martouf and Sam over what course of action was better to take in certain hostile situations, but nothing major and the team functioned rather well.

Today, SG-1 was on P4G-9P6 on a routine mission and nothing eventful had happened. Daniel’s accidental fall was the only occurrence that had taken place as the team headed back to the Stargate. Nothing of any value had been found and no species encountered.

It had taken awhile for Martouf and Lantash to adapt and accept what SG-1 and the rest of the SGC really did. They understood that the Tau’ri did not avidly seek out the Goa’uld system lords with the intent to gather information or sabotage their ships. Most of the time, the Tau’ri stumbled onto the Goa’uld and most of the time, ended the trouble with a lot of noise. Unlike the Tok’ra, who made trouble for the system lords in small doses, patiently waiting for a system lord’s downfall, the Tau’ri usually ended up destroying everything: killing most of the Jaffa, destroying the ships, and killing the system lord. If there was one thing that Martouf and Lantash had learned quickly was that the Tau’ri, especially SG-1, attracted trouble no matter where they went and what they were doing. It was rather exciting and different from life with the Tok’ra, who strived to remain below detection at all times. The more time spent with the Tau’ri, the more Martouf and Lantash learned about them and was surprised at the other aspects of their personalities. They laughed, spent time with each other in avid conversation, showed kindness and caring, demonstrated the ability to have fun; overall, the atmosphere around the Tau’ri while they were home was extremely relaxing and happy.

They were not without faults however. The Tau’ri were extremely reckless, too curious at times, stubborn, overly suspicious, quick to judge, and could be very rude, but every species had their faults, even the Tok’ra.

What astounded Martouf and Lantash the most was the world outside of the SGC. There were just so many new sights, new things to see, experience, and learn about. They learned that the Tau’ri had a great deal of objects and things that served no other purpose other than entertainment. Like a television, movies, a kite, music, books, and Jell-O wrestling.

It had only been two months, but Martouf and Lantash had already learned much; he had too. Lessons in Tau’ri weaponry, reading and writing the Tau’ri language, how to use basic Tau’ri technology like a microwave, toaster, and alarm clock. Samantha would teach him how to use a computer and driving a car later on.

Martouf was brought back to his thoughts as he heard Samantha shout. Peering over the edge, he nodded to her order to bring Daniel up. He, like his beloved, would be happy to go home for the day.

~~~~~
“What did the colonel ask you when we were leaving?” Sam asked as she opened the front door of their house, holding it open for Martouf, whose arms were full of paper grocery bags.
“He inquired as to whether or not we would be attending his outdoor barbeque this weekend, love. I told him that we would be,” Martouf answered, walking into the kitchen and setting down the bags. A racquet of noise distracted them as Nadez and Curie came streaking around the corner, clambering for attention. Martouf grinned as he bent down and vigorously rubbed Nadez’s neck, Nadez was a huge golden retriever that he and Samantha had gotten a month ago when Samantha had decided she wanted another cat. She didn’t explain what had happened to her first cat, Schrodinger, but she had chosen an orange tabby cat and named it Curie, after a famous person on the Tau’ri home world.
“Hey Curie, how are you? Mmm, I missed you so much, yes, I did.” Sam picked up Curie, who was twirling around her ankles, and rubbed her cheek against Curie’s soft stomach. Curie meowed loudly and purred her happiness at having Sam and Martouf home.
Martouf scratched Nadez’s neck before straightening and began putting the groceries they had bought at the store in their proper places. He paused as his hand lighted upon a small bag of his current favorite food of the day. M&Ms. Martouf grinned to himself as he subtly glanced over to his love still occupied with showering affection onto their pets as he surreptitiously opened the bag of sweet milk chocolate, grabbing a handful and stuffing it into his mouth.
“I saw that.” Martouf’s grin widened as he took in the sternly amused face of his love and he shrugged his shoulders innocently, returning to his task of putting their supplements away to be eaten later. Sam shook her head and walked over to her answering machine, pressing the flashing button. She rolled her eyes when she heard her perky thirty-something year old female neighbor’s voice on the machine.
“Hey Sam! It’s me, Lindy! How are you? Um, I’m thinking of cleaning up my basement...but obviously there are some really, really heavy boxes down there and since little ole me can’t possibly lift them, I was wondering if I could borrow Martouf for a day. ‘Giggle’. Don’t worry Sammie; I’ll be sure to return him to you as soon as I’m finished. ‘Giggle’. Get back to me on that, okay? Luv you, bye!”
Sam mock-gagged and her face scrunched up in disgust. “Don’t worry, Sammy; I’ll return him when I’m done with him.” She mimicked the girlish giggle and rolled her eyes, much to Martouf and Lantash’s amusement. He smiled and walked around the counter to grab her gently around the waist. Sam grinned as she buried her face in Martouf’s chest. “If only she truly knew about you.”
Martouf kissed her blonde hair; his nose nuzzled the soft skin behind her ear. “I love it when you emit signs of jealousy.” He laughed softly, rubbing his hands over the curves of her back.
Sam pulled back slightly with her eyebrows raised. “Me? Jealous of her? I don’t think so. I’m disgusted, not jealous; there’s a vast difference between the two. Jealous,” Sam scoffed as her hands dipped underneath Martouf’s light grey shirt to glide them across the smooth expanse of his skin.
Closing his eyes briefly as both he and Lantash felt the familiar desire begin to grow within himself at the touch of his love’s hands on his bare skin, Martouf opened them again and said with a tiny smirk, “Then you would mind my assisting Lindy in cleaning her basement?”
Sam snorted and took one of her hands from underneath Martouf’s shirt, much to his disappointment, and pressed a button on the answering machine. The automatic voice intoned, “Message erased.” Returning her hand to its prior position, she replied saucily, “How can you help her when I didn’t receive her message?”
Martouf laughed. “I love you so much, Samantha.”
Leaning in to kiss Martouf, Sam whispered against his lips, “I love you too. And I’m not about to go sharing you with anyone else.”
His hands reaching down to cup her butt, Martouf pressed her tightly against him. Their lips still pressed against each other, Martouf replied huskily back, “The same applies to me when that man who delivers pizza comes here with our orders, love. All mine.”
“Yours.” Sam said breathlessly as her body reacted to the growing bulge in Martouf’s jeans and she sealed the conversation with a kiss.
The End...or is it?
Actually, I’ve written another smut scene for those of you folks who want to see more of Sam/Martouf. But for those of you who don’t or are too young, then the buck stops here for you people. Others can catch the steamy ending in the real epilogue. Go on now; go!
I must warn you, it’s hard-core smut, so please don’t read it if it makes you uncomfortable, please! I can’t stress that enough.
