Summary: Pesky little things, these demons are.

Author's Notes: This has nothing to do with my ongoing "Coping" series.
It's just something I came up with during a particularly slow moving class.

                                            *********************

In almost all of the old legends, demons come out in the dark.

Hardly ever are they creatures that dance in a sunlit field of flowers.

They come out at night to haunt us, to scare us out of our minds. Other
times they lurk in the shadows, heard but unseen.

And so it is with the demons of the mind. They lurk in darkness, bringing
only despair when they surface. They haunt your mind with hopeless thoughts.

I lie on my couch, staring at the ceiling. My mind churns; the demons are
working overtime tonight.

They have become familiar to me now. It seems they come every night and fill
my head with their dark thoughts, bringing all my fears to front.

You'll never see him again, they taunt. Every night you'll be alone. You'll
cry yourself to sleep only to wake a few hours later.

We will overcome you, they smugly declare.

I turn on my side, pushing such thoughts out from my mind. As long as it's
possible Mulder is still alive, I won't give.

No demon will overcome me.

                                          *************************
