I guess when I took the position at JAG, I thought it was going to be boring. But in the first months that I've worked with Harm, it has been anything but boring. I've hardly recovered from our last adventure of tangling with some poachers. Harm has been temporarily reassigned to escort a Romanian Princess. He is not looking forward to it! That's his ego talking – acting as a babysitter is beneath him. We had another surprise today – Harriet - Ensign Sims – turned up at JAG today! She's been reassigned to Washington. Bud didn't know she was coming and he was so surprised when Harm brought her to my office. They're just so cute together.

This babysitting assignment turned out to be much more than Harm was expecting. The Princess is little more than a young woman with a total disregard for her own safety. Harm is babysitting in every sense of the word. However, there's more to this than meets the eye. The King plans to announce his petition for entrance into NATO, but he's been threatened with assassination of his daughter if he does.

Harm, myself, Bud and Harriet all attended the NATO ball tonight. We weren't sure what we were up against and it turns out we were right to be worried. Instead of the King making the announcement, the Princess made it and the assassin almost got her. What we never expected was the connection with the assassin. It was a woman that had recently moved into Harm's building. I believe he had a personal interest in her. I… well, there's a part of me that doesn't like to think about him dating someone. I don't suppose I have a right to those feelings, do I? At the dance, I told him he could at least look like he was enjoying himself even though I was sure he thought of me as a sister. He immediately denied it but how do I know if he was just saying that to make me feel better or if he really meant it? He has a rigid sense of duty – that much I've already picked up from working with him. I don't know that he would ever let a relationship develop between us beyond the working one. But he's a contradiction. When we were running from those poachers, he was there for me every step of the way. I don't know if I would have made it without him. Of course, I wouldn't have been there in the first place without him… but I forgive him for that. It really wasn't his fault. He was there for me when I needed him. And a few times I thought I almost caught a glimpse of a something more in his eyes. Or maybe I'm only fooling myself. He looked so very handsome at the NATO ball in his mess dress. I would only change the fact that we couldn't relax and enjoy ourselves just for the sake of attending the ball. There was too much distraction for us to even spend much time talking.

On the upside, Harm and I did a little matchmaking at the ball and got Bud and Harriet together. Their first date went to hell because Bud had a flat and couldn't get to a phone and Harriet was sure he was standing her up and they both accepted dates from other people to the ball and… well, you'd have to know Bud and Harriet to understand. It's something of a sight to see them together but you know what? I envy what they have. There's a sweetness to them. It's like watching a couple of teenagers with their first love because they just rush headlong into their feelings. I wonder if there might ever be a time when Harm and I have that together?
