Dreams to Dream: Part 6

I laughed as we reached the very bottom and got off the ferris wheel. Then we all started towards the exit to meet Race and Blink. Jack stopped me on the way there. "What did you stop me for?" I asked curiously.

He held a finger to his lips. "Follow me."

I followed him to one of the games where you win stuff. "What did you want to come here for?"

He smiled. "You'll see." He got some rings and started trying to throw them around a prize. After a few tries he finally got what he was aiming for and walked over to me. "Close your eyes." He said gently.

I stared at him suspiciously. "Why?"

He laughed. "Just close yer eyes." I stared at him for a few more seconds but eventually closed my eyes. After a few seconds he told me I could open them. He held up a silver heart-shaped locket, when he opened it I saw a picture of us in it.

"How did you get the picture?" I asked.

He smiled. "The photo booth in da mall, remember?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I remember." I put the locket on and we started walking towards the exit again. When we got there we saw everyone waiting for us.

"What were you two doing?" Alahna asked suspiciously.

I rolled my eyes. "Nothing. Why do you always think we're doing something?"

She laughed. "Oh, no reason."

We left the amusement park and went to the theater then. When we got there Alahna bought the tickets and the rest of us went to the consession stand to get drinks and snacks and stuff. I walked over to Alahna's sister, Kate, and started talking to her.

"Hey Kate, guess what."

She smiled. "You're going to go see Titanic again and this time you're taking four good-looking guys with you."

"Close, but not close enough. They aren't just any good-looking guys, they're the newsies. Race, Blink, Jack, and Spot to be exact."

She sighed. "Oh, so you're spending a day with the newsies? That's nice. Are you sick?"

I smiled and shook my head. "No. The movie is about to start, we've got to go." I said as we all started to walk into the theater. After a while Alahna walked in. She tapped me on the shoulder. "Hey Sandy, can you believe that Kate didn't believe me when I told her who Spot and the others were?"

I nodded and laughed. "Yeah, of course. She didn't belive me when I told her either."

After about five minutes the movie started. I looked at Jack who was staring wide-eyed at the screen. "Wow. Will ya look at dat. It looks real, an' dere's sound. How'd dey do dat?" He asked in amazement.

I laughed. "I'm not quite sure. I've never asked before."

Finally everyone shut up and started watching the movie. About half way through Jack put his arm around me. I jumped and he started to laugh. I hit him softly. "It's not funny!" He started laughing and a few people behind us complained. He stopped laughing and tried to hide his smile. "Watch the movie and stop bothering the people behind us."

"But I'm not doing-" I started to say but was cut off by about five people behind me that told me to shut up.

At the part where Jack Dawson died, I noticed Jack staring at something beside him, when I saw what it was I almost started laughing. He was staring at Blink who was trying his hardest not to cry. I noticed that Race, Alahna, and Spot were also staring at him. When he saw all of us looking at him he wiped away a solitary tear and said "I got somethin' in my eye.".

None of us believed him but we didn't say anything, we just turned around and finished the movie.

We walked into the theater lobby after the movie was over and started talking. Blink smiled. "So, what are we doin' next?"

I looked at Alahna. She shrugged. "There's really nothing else to do. Why don't we just get some pizza and then get on the internet and look at Newsies fanfic and websites and stuff?"

I smiled. "Sounds great! Your computer or mine?"

She thought for a while. "Well, my mom is probably still on my computer so why not yours?"

I smiled. "Okay. Let's go, so many websites, so little time."

She laughed. "You got that right!"

We picked up the pizza and went to my house where we started looking at Newsies websites and stuff. We read all the fanfic we thought was the best and went to all the best websites, we even e-mailed our friends to tell them what had happened, even though we knew they would never believe us, even if we did have pictures. After there was nothing left to do on the internet we watched some of the best movies and finished watching Newsies and they helped us write fanfic. When we had nothing left to do we decided to go swimming. So we went to Alahna's house and swam for about an hour and had a blast.

After a while Kate showed up with Misty, our friend who worked with her. Misty started talking to Blink and Kate started talking to Race. We all just split into groups of two eventually. Spot and Alahna were the only two people on the face of the earth that night as far as they were concerned, Race and Kate were just as close even though they had only known each other a short while, and Jack and I were getting along just as great as the other two. Misty and Blink seemed to be nothing but really good friends but later, Kate, Alahna, and I all agreed that they would have made a perfect couple.

Jack and I were basically just staring at the stars and talking about our hopes, dreams, and secrets. I gave him my silver ring with the dolphins on it to remember me by. I even told him my motto, "Power to insanity!". He said he would live by it. It seemed like I could tell him anything and I was pretty sure he felt the same. I tried my hardest not to think about when he would leave. But somehow I knew he would have to go back, and I hated to even think of what was going to happen that neither one of us could avoid. I could have talked to him forever, just the two of us and never get tired of it, but Blink and Misty eventually got tired of talking alone and suggested we do something as a group.

After a couple of ghost stories we decided to play hide-and-go seek even though it was a kids game. It turned out to be really fun. We changed the rules a little and turned it into guys against girls. Most of the time we ended up looking for the person we liked the most. Around the end the guys looked at each other sadly and Jack said, "I think we betta' go. We can't stay heya foreva', no matta' how much we want ta."

Spot nodded. "He's right."

I looked at Alahna and tried not to panic. She shook her head. "But-but, you guys don't even know how you got here. So you don't know how to leave either."

I sighed in relief. "Yeah. Why don't we just keep up the game. We can't just wait around for you guys to leave, it would get boring."

Race nodded. "Da goils is right. Let's enjoy dis while we still can."
