My Poor Jack! Why must you pick on him?! :(
I was bored so I was looking through the survey answers and I just couldn't take it anymore! Everyone is always picking on Jack and it's not good to hold your anger inside (Tinkerbell rolls eyes: Says who?) so I just had to write a complaint here. :)
You ever notice how people always say Jack has greasy hair? Well, of course he does!! What do they expect?! This is the second... no, third most annoying thing they say about Jack. Really, give the guy a break. Blame it on the make up people! :) Anyway, I promise you Spot's hair is greasy too and you could see it if he would take off his hat every now and then! You'd think it was glued to his head...
You know what's even more annoying than that? When people, especially Gabe Babes, say Jack is arrogant. Why?!! Okay, I know Jack has the lines that sound self centered ("... and my God given talent") and Spot doesn't really have any but it's the attitude. Jack doesn't have an egotistical attitude. Look at the poor guy when he's in the refuge! He's not arrogant, he's a kid all alone in a crummy world that's given him a crummy life and he's putting on an act to hide the fact that he doesn't know how to always be a good leader. As for Spot, come on the guy radiates arrogance!! The first time you ever see him you can see it in the way he stands, the way he talks, and most of all, his eyes. It should shock you, I mean this scrawny short guy trying to look so tough and succeeding?! His eyes have this fearless "Don't mess with me or I'll kick your butt because I am the all-powerful leader of Brooklyn and you are nobody" look in them. There is no doubt to anyone with eyes that Spot is the egotistical one, even if he doesn't have the lines to tell you that. So he's not really a jerk, I know that, to be quite truthful I respect him in a way, but egotistical just isn't the same without adding jerk onto the end...
Okay, this is the one thing that really gets to me, the number one most annoying thing people have to say about Jack: when they say he betrayed his friends. Like Turpin he betrayed his friends! Really people, do you even pay attention to the movie? Anyone who really believes this, go watch the movie right now! Were you not listening to Jack's conversation with Pulitzer?! When Pulitzer offered Jack a bride Jack practically laughed in his face! He knew he wouldn't have to worry about getting chased by the bulls anymore, he knew he could go to Santa Fe, he knew he'd have money, and to me he looks like he knows he's giving up his chance to follow his dream by not betraying his friends. If he would have been betraying his friends he would have accepted right then instead of smiling a little mockingly (and sadly, you can see in his eyes he knows Pulitzer is powerful and he's scared of what he must know is coming) and said, "We must have you scared pretty bad old man." Jack did not betray his friends. He didn't give in to Pulitzer, he didn't admit defeat, not until Pulitzer threatened to throw Dave and the others in jail. That's why Jack agreed to work for Pulitzer, not to get money, he did it to keep keep his friends out of jail. If you think that's betrayal, then I don't know what's going on in your head. If you think I'm wrong because he tells Dave he did it for the money, my theory is he doesn't want to admit he did it for his friends because he's lost everyone he's ever cared about. That's just my theory, but if you still believe Jack betrayed his friends... well, don't try to start an arguement with me about it because I don't want to fight over it, I just want to express my opinion and if you do want to argue, please catch me on a good day. Anyway, that's just my humble opinion. (((((Echo)))))
