This separation first happened in the Garden of Eden. God created Adam and Eve and
they were not separated from Him until they sinned by disobedience, the eating of
forbidden fruit. Then God cast them out from that perfect place in which they had been
created and had lived. Since that time there has been a spiritual chasm between all humans
and the God who created them. All humans! The Bible says, "...for all have sinned and fall
short of the Glory of God." Romans 3:23
For centuries God instructed His chosen people, the Jews, in a way to span that chasm with
the sacrificing of animals. Because God cannot look upon sin it was only the blood of a
perfect, unblemished animal that God accepted as a sacrifice for sin, enabling Him to
forgive His people for their sins.
Then God decided to span that chasm Himself, for all time, so that peoples from all nations
could come to Him. To do this He created the ultimate sacrifice in His own Son, Jesus.
Jesus was conceived of a virgin girl by the Holy Spirit of God. Jesus was without sin, a
perfect man. When Jesus shed His blood on the cross, it was the last sacrifice that ever had
to be made. From that moment on anyone who believes that Jesus is the Son of the living
God, is spiritually covered with the blood of this Lamb, and is forgiven for their sins.
"For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
