Song: Something About That Name

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

This is, without a doubt, one of the most important questions you'll ever ask in your life.
Luckily, God gives us the answer in a way that everyone can understand, and He also
makes it so easy that everyone can do it.

Most of us who went to church as children memorized, or can at least remember the scripture,
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Now, we know we cannot live forever here on earth, so we know that Jesus is speaking of another life. Life with Him and His Father in the Kingdom of Heaven. God sent Jesus to earth to die for us, so that if we believe in Him we will live forever in the Kingdom of God.

There are steps that you must take to be saved:

First: You must repent. To repent means to regret the things that you have ever done and/or said that is contrary to what God wants, and to turn away from them with the intention of no longer walking in the path of sinful ways.
"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."

Second: You must acknowledge that Jesus died on the cross so that you can be forgiven for your sins. Someone had to pay the price that was owed, and Jesus did that as he shed His blood on the cross. When you accept Him as your Savior you are cleansed from all sin.
"But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him." Romans 5:8 & 9

Third: You must confess, asking the Lord to forgive all of the sins that you have ever committed. You need not name them singly, you probably couldn't anyway, but He knows them all!
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9

Fourth: You must ask Him to be Lord, or ruler, of your life. By doing this you are saying that from this moment on you will let Him dominate your actions. You must do the best you can to make sure that all actions and decisions in your life are in line with His will.
"I beseech you therefore brethern, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:1&2

The Bible says, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, to those who believe in His name." John 1:12

So when you open your heart and receive Him, He comes into your heart--your inner person--through the Holy Spirit, and begins to live His life in you. From that point it is your priviledge and call to confess what God has done.
"...that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans10:9
