Give Thanks

This is the day that we set aside especially to thank God for the blessings that He has given us. This doesn't indicate that this is the only time to thank Him, but it gives a greater opportunity to contemplate the true wealth of thanks that is due.

One of the ways we show our thanks is by having a feast. In our home we have a very old-fashioned meal: baked turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied sweet potatoes, baked beans, scalloped corn, cranberry sauce, cherry and pumpkin pies. Yummmmm.....
I especially love the feeling of all the baking making the house almost over warm, while outside the weather is giving a hint of the winter to come.

And, of course, Thanksgiving means Football!!!! As I stated on my Autumn page, I love football as much as my husband does. We each have out favorite teams, and they are seldom the same, but I must admit that sometimes I just like to root for the underdog.

While browsing through my family pictures I could only find ONE picture that I know is definately from Thanksgiving. I'm sure that I have more, but I am a very unorganized person. Anyway, because I am so picture poor on this holiday, I vowed to take more pictures on Thanksgiving this year!
Here is the picture that I found.

My brother, Kenny, wanting a taste of Mom's stuffing during preparation.

I Thank This Lady For These Neat Graphics!
