Influences On Teaching

This may sound wrong or ironic, but the most influential factor in my decision to become a teacher were my experiences with bad teachers.  As a student who wanted to learn, I was easily frustrated by those teachers who refused to do their job, or just didn't care.  I made my decision based solely on the idea that I was going to make a difference.  In some regard, their negative influence has impacted me in a very positive way, and for that I am grateful.

I have also had some teachers who have been very great role models.  I will always keep their attitudes, beliefs, and ideas in the back of my mind, and hope that I will inspire and positively influence my own students.
