Opening Day!!!!! Just got to hunt one morning and came home with my tail between my legs. I got lost walking to the stand! It's a good thing I left early. I have a walking trail I like to take that intercepts the end of my 300yd sandera, so I can corn it on the way to the stand. It was so grown up and all the cows and game changed the trails so much. Just keep walking until I hit either a fence, creek or the road. It was the road, which is where I started. I walked in a full circle. Used the road to go to the stand. I was carring so much gear, I climded into the stand with out the flashlight on. Once I got in, I was hearing things move. Turned the light on and all the sides about a quarter of the way down from the roof were covered with wasp. No nest, just alll bunched together. I had two cans of wasp spray in the stand. I let them have it until they were all on the floor and it looked like they were 2 to 3 deep on the entire floor. I soaked them some more and sweep them out. I finally got setteled and and it was just light enough to see the feeder and a big hog and her little piggies were there having breakfast. I could barly see through the scope with the darkness and rain. Oh yea, this whole time it was raining pretty good.............details. I let her have it. Heard this splat and she ran off. I gut shot her so she would do just that. I know Mongo would have dropped her right there and had a snack on the spot. I was hoping to get her out of there so maybe some deer would show up if the rain would ever let up. The rest of the morning, I just saw one small buck on the move, about 45min after the shot and just 30yd from the stand. Too quick and small to worry about. Stayed until 9:00 and took off so I could mark my walking trail in the daylight. Came home and it is a good thing, because it rained the rest of the day. Can't wait until next time!!!! |
