Didn't make opening day, won't go there, but did get to go just a few days later. Got an evening and a morning stand hunt in. The first evening, 3 large sows showed up in sendera. Lined up two............... After the sun went down, (very surprised on how well my new Seiss scope worked, normally walking back to the Jeep now) but instead, got to see all the piggies at the feeder, and they were all black too!!!! Shot the largest one, went down, looking around through the scope while they scattered, came right back and she was gone........... It's true what they say about these scopes, you get another hour of hunting a day, that is 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening.
Heavy fog the next morning. One doe in sendera and nice looking young buck at the feeder after a few tree rubs. Narrow rack, but tall, will be nice one day hopefully. Coyote steps out of brush in between the feeder and the stand, walks slowly toward the stand, very strange, usually they are never this still. Just visible for a moment. Cool looking owl sitting real close on a cut down tree, we stared at each other down. 4 bucks show up in the sendera after the fog cleared, 150-160yds away. It was no contest on who was getting hit. Few minutes later, small doe shows up in sendera, and then a few more later all his running buddies show up farther back in the sendera, eating away.......................
While on the way to some shade to quarter him up, ran across 30-40 turkeys hanging out and they just kind of walked off. Too hot, muggy and no breeze to stay the day.
I feel both renewed and satisfied..........................this week :) |
