Intro: A group of five high school students take on the job of banishing invading aliens from Earth with magic.
Background: Started out as a 6 episode OAV, but was followed by a TV series.
Brief Story Description: Earth has been invaded by aliens called "The Bell" because their base looks like a giant bell, all we see of them are various mechanical objects they use. The Bell seem to just be living peacefully on Earth, they even obey traffic signals. But one high school's Magic Users Club plans to defeat the Bell by using magic, something the Bell knows nothing about.
Story: 8/10 Rather odd mixture of magic and the every day world, but it works.
Characters: 9/10 I love the characters, there's not one character that I dislike. They all have their quirks, their talents, their weaknesses. They're very human. The interaction between them all, as they learn about each other and befriend each other is great. Sae is one of the few clutzy female characters who I actually enjoy. All the characters are VERY full of energy, and I'm quite happy that the English voice actors are able to keep the energy, anime like this is hard to dub.
Quality: 8/10 Decent quality, definately put together through use of the computer, makes for a sharp animation. There's some use of 3D animation. The colors are decent, the special effects are nice and there's a lot of little things included that really bring the animation to life, again there's that energy.
Music: 9/10 Good orchestrated music, the kind that adds a theatrical touch. I wish there was an OST, but all I can find is a vocal collection. The vocals are fun too of course, the themes are very catchy.
Little Kid Factor: Not recommended, mostly because of Takeo's wild fantasies of the girls throwing their clothes at him. I don't want to say it's totally tastless, it fits his character. There's nothing much besides that and Takeo's rival's bouncy boobs.
Bottom line: Overall an enjoyable shoujo anime, and luckily not too shoujo. Definately a taste all its own. If you like cute humor and stuff like that, you may like it. If you're totally for action, or just hate anything remotely girly, stay away from it.
