The Story of Early Man

Archaeologists have traced man back to about 3.6millon years.

At first the land was an uninhabited, cold tundra, but soon it gave way to flowers, grasses, bush-like birch and osier, and
with them came bigger animals such as reindeer and elk which in their turn brought humans to the area.
From the earliest times man was a hunter and gather, they lived on fruits, roots, nuts and vegetables that they found growing
wild, they learn how to make tools and weapons and hunted for meat, at first they didn’t have fire so you have to eat it uncooked.
They used to skins to cloth them self’s in. They didn’t live in caves but followed their food from one place to another; they
meet other groups on there journeys.

Man didn’t know how to make fire at first, so when they came across something burning from natural causes they uses it to
make camp fires to them safe and keep out the night beasts, the would take burning sticks with them so as to keep the fire
for the next camp. If the fire went out they had to wait till they found it again.

Man didnt learn to make fire for a very long time, but when he did it changed his life.
He dint have to worry about it going out as they could build another campfire. Meat was being cooked and could be saved for
harsher times.
It was the end of the Ice Age much of the world was still frozen man would travel following the animals across the great Ice
Lakes, Rivers and Sea’s to new parts.
As the Ice melted so the people and animals where trapped unable to get back from where they came from

Some lived in caves after they killed the wild animal that lived there so they could be warm and safe for the cold weather.
Why did they do cave drawing?
Why hide them away in small narrow places?
No one really knows, was it a religion?
Asking for a good hunt and saying thanks to the gods for the good hunt they just had and for the gods eyes only?
As you can see on cave drawings they are the animals that they hunted for food.

It is believed that Stone Age man migrated to Britain across the land bridge that then joined Britain to the rest of Europe.
The rising water levels cut Britain off from Europe and left these peoples to develop separately and largely unmolested by
any large outside tribes or armies.
As time went by man learn how to make better tools and weapons, they learnt how to make homes out of animal bones, twigs and
covered in skins with bolder round the bottom to hole it in place, they lasted for many years where they could be safe and
warm, people began to live longer. They learn how to fish and make nets to catch them in; they learn how to make better clothes
and to cure the food for the long winter, they followed the animals in the summer and later returned to there winter homes.
As time went on they soon learn to domesticate the animals and till the land to grow crops, at last they could live in one
place.
