What was it like for women long ago?
When I read back thought history I don't like what I see.
Some of it still goes on to day.
What am I going on about well the way women were treated?
Its always been the way for the women to stop at home look after the children do the cooking and cleaning. But women have had to put up a lot thought the ages and Im going to try and tell you some of it.
In some countries its taboo for a women to show her face, body in side or out when men are about. Lot of it is to do with religion in that country.
But women have had far more to put up with.
In the past, people were typically married between the ages of 9 to 14. This tradition has changed in many tribes due to the influence of the surrounding culture. Pre-marital sex is strongly forbidden.
Did u know that a woman was unclean and had the devil in her?
Well its true or so they were told by men.
Every month a women was redeemed as being that way.
She was not aloud to wash her cloths with any of the men's and she had to wash her cloths farther down stream so as not to contaminate others with the devil.
The part of a woman's body below the waist was and still is with some costumes to be dirty or polluted, because it is associated with menstruation. In many tribes, women wear long skirts, the bottoms of which must not touch a man other than her husband.
A pregnant woman is considered unclean. She must not give birth in the family home because it would then become impure. . Sometimes knots are ritually untied as the birth approaches. This is believed to assure that the umbilical cord will not be tangled. After birth, anything that the new mother touches is later destroyed. This quarantine continues at least until the baptism of the baby.
Is it true that “Men are superior to women, and a man is better than a woman?
Is it true that “The woman is a toy?
My answer to that is NO.
The understanding that man's sexual needs are more important than the woman's was not only believed by the early Muslims,
but is also believed by modern-day Muslims.
In my search I found this. "The prophet once said to a woman: 'Watch how you treat your husband for he is your Paradise and your Hell."
The woman was created so that man can rest in her ... for by her he gets rid of his sexual storm. The female sexual organ
was created for men. Allah made it known, that place of the woman was created from man for man's sake. So the woman must
yield it whenever the husband calls her. If she refuses then she is an oppressor and in a grave position.
Sufficient proof of this was reported from Sahih Muslim in the Hadith that says 'When a man calls his wife to his bed, and
she refuses, the One Who is in the heaven will be angry with her until he [her husband] is pleased with her.
Whether or not the beating of wives is justified, this is the man's right, and his alone. The right of the sexual pleasure
belongs to the man, not the woman, by that it is meant that the man has the right to force the woman to gratify himself sexually.
She on the other hand does not have the right to force him to have sex with her except once [in a lifetime]. But he must,
from a religious point of view, have sex with her to protect her from being morally corrupted. The man who fears rebelliousness
in his wife must admonish her first. If that does not work, the husband has the right to desert her sexually. If that does
not work either, he has the right to beat her. The only time she could say no was if she menstruating.
But you can see from some religions that's what women were Toys to be used whenever the man wanted to play no matter what
time of day they had to drop what they were doing and go please there man for if they went against the mans wishes they could
be beaten and if it happened to often it could end in divorce.
Ok they were married but today most of us have the right to say NO
From what I read in this it gives the men the right to rape his wife and beat her if she has no good reason not to have sex
with him.
To me this is all wrong in today's society that it can still happen. Women are not sex objects to be used like that. We are
not lower that the low, we do have a brain and know how to use it. We have the right to say yes or no and the right to say
how we use our bodies for what ever we want. And no one should put us down.
According to St. Jerome, a Latin father of the Christian church, woman is the gate of the devil, the path of wickedness, the sting of the serpent, in a word, a perilous object.
In Middle Ages Ladies were not considered as important they were forced into marriage to fill the families pockets, Girls under the age of ten could marry a man of fifty or sixty! A woman's body and her goods became her husband's property when she married and the law allowed him to do whatever he wanted with them. Infidelity in a wife was not tolerated. If a wife displeased her husband in any way, real or imagined, he would turn her out of the house with just a shift to cover her. And she had no right of redress. Wife beating was common and was considered righteous punishment for an disobedient wife. The church did not allow divorce so the wife would have to stay with her husband until he died.
And when he died they were forced to marry again this could happen many time, as the girl was so young. You didn't have to know or like the person, you got told and you did it or got sent to a convent. If you fell in love with some one and the family didn't like him, to stop you running away with him you could be sent to the convent, an unmarried girl
was a burden upon the family many would end up becoming a nun.
If it was not for the militant suffrage movement women would never had the vote, a lot went to prison and on hunger strike, many were force feed, tube down the throat into the stomach many had there teeth broken that way and if they couldn't get the mouth open then it was a tube put up there noises and down into the stomach and the food was then feed thought the tubes to keep them alive.
Still in some parts of the world, women are still down trodden by men but things are starting to get better. Most of it is
to do with religion and what has been handed down from generations.
If you have read any of the things I have written about on this site you can see down thought the ages women were sacrificed, tortured.
All in the name of god and religion.
