Linksys NIC cards

LNE100TX - EtherFast® 10/100 LAN Card

I bought Linksys 'Network in a box' kit and boy, was I disappointed. the NIC cards doesn't work with Windows XP, and they haven't updated the drivers in years. My driver update would have been the second one down on XP driver page for this card (lne100txv42.exe). My card fits the discription. Version 4.0 or 4.1 is printed on the chip.

NO GO. the card won't work.

Check it out. the dates are older then some of the computers I have owned.

Update: Finally, there is an up to date driver for this card. I don't know if the driver works with XP (SP1). I have since gotten rid of these NIC cards and can't check to see if it would actually work. Notice that all the other driver dates on the page are 2001. the latest one is 2005. that means it took them almost 5 years (considering that now it's almost the end of 2005) before they would bother to fix their drivers to work with a 5 year old Operating System. (Windows XP is close to 5 years old now.)

As of Dec 7th (2005) this link works. Driver Download for LNE100TX LAN card.

Personally, I STILL would go with D-link if I was in the market again for something like this, or even just a NIC card. Better yet, just stick with the LAN cards that now come embedded on the motherboards. Much better.
