Manny watched the departing car from behind an old oak tree and pulled out his cell phone. "Sonny Corinthos just left the Spencer home," Manny informed him quickly.
"Fuck," Jason muttered. "Is Carly okay? Michael?"
"Everything looks fine," Manny sighed. "Michael wasn't home, Laura Spencer has the kids. But whatever happened, it looks like Luke chased him off with a gun."
"Alright," Jason sighed.
"Do you want me to do anything about this?" Manny asked him carefully.
"No," Jason shook his head. "I don't want you to blow your cover or mine. Don't worry I'll get Sonny one way or another."
The line beeped for an incoming call and Jason ended his call with Manny.
"Yeah?"
"Corinthos just left."
"I know. Don't let him near Carly again, Luke."
Luke almost asked how he knew he was there, but quickly changed his mind. "It's gonna be tough, Jason. He already told Caroline that he was gonna be at all her doc appointments. Says he's got parental rights."
Jason narrowed his eyes at the information. "Who's his lawyer?"
Luke sighed unhappily, "Alexis Davis."
Jason continued to think and the answer finally hit him. "Okay, don't worry about that. Just don't let him near Carly or Michael for the time being. I'll be back soon." He paused slightly. "Sooner than I thought."
"You got it, kid."
Jason ended the call and tapped the cell phone to his chin. Did he really want to form a pact with the devil?
~~~~~
As Jason sat at the desk going over Sonny's various holdings and savings, a light knock came at the door. He glanced at his watch and sighed. It was too early for it to be Jax.
"Yeah?" he called from behind the door.
"Mr. Morgan, I have the information you requested last night," came the reply.
Jason opened the door and let the informant in. "What'd you find?"
"A call was placed to the Corinthos-Morgan warehouse on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2:06 p.m. EST. It appears that contact was made with Mr. Corinthos himself. At approximately 2:10 p.m. EST, another call was placed to the number you had me run."
Jason placed his hands on his hips as he listened to the information. "Do you know who made the calls?"
"Peter Salvador."
"Were there any other calls made before this one?"
He handed him a few sheets of paper. "Two other calls were made to the warehouse in the past week. None to the other number."
"Where's Salvador?" Jason asked reading over the information.
"He's being held in one of the empty rooms until you give further notice."
Jason nodded his head and patted the man's shoulder. "Good work, Vic. Let the guards there know that he's gonna be moved soon."
"Yes, sir."
Jason rolled his neck as he shut the door. So Jax was right after all. Who would have known?
A short time later, Jason made his way down to the underground garage of the hotel. The secluded janitor's closet was where his target had been sitting for the past hour. He nodded at the guard who was posted at the door and informed him to have a car sent to their location immediately.
Jason walked into the small room where Peter Salvador sat; tied to a chair, duct tape over his mouth. His eyes widened when he saw Jason and another bead of sweat appeared on his forehead. Jason dragged a chair from the corner of the room and sat in front of Salvador as he ripped off the tape.
"M-Mr. Morgan, sir," he began
"Shut up," Jason ordered.
Salvador's mouth closed and he nervously watched as Jason took hold of his gun.
"I'm gonna ask you a few questions. As long as you tell me what I wanna know, I'll make this painless."
"Mr.-"
"I said to shut up," he told him calmly. After a short pause, he began his questioning. "How long have you been reporting to Sonny Corinthos?"
Salvador's jaw fell and quickly made his decision. He knew that he wouldn't be walking out of the room alive. And he knew that Jason Morgan was more than capable of making him suffer.
"One week," Salvador replied
"What have you told him exactly?"
"Nothing, I swear to you, Mr. Morgan. I called him and he requested that I make a phone call for him to the mainland."
"When's the last time you spoke to him?"
"Tuesday. He said he wouldn't be contacting me again for another month."
"Who was this phone call to?"
"A man who calls himself Jax. Mr. Corinthos ordered me to tell him that the woman he was looking for was in Paris."
"What did you tell him about the business?"
"Nothing. I swear on my mother's grave I said nothing. He never asked."
"Are there any other spies on my property?"
"None that I know of, sir."
"Did you tell him that I was here?"
"No!" he replied quickly. "No, I never said anything and you never came up in the conversation. I swear it."
Jason nodded his head and moved the chair back to where it had sat. When he turned back around, he eyed Salvador coldly. "You have a daughter, right?"
Salvador's eyes began to glisten with unshed tears. "Please, I'm begging you, don't hurt her. She's all that I have."
"She's the only reason you're going to live," Jason told him matter-of-factly. "I want you to leave this city and never come back. Don't contact anyone who works for me or for Sonny. I'm going to have someone follow you and if I find out that you contact Sonny or anyone again, I'll have you killed. Do you understand me?"
The tears were unabashedly falling down his face, grateful for a second chance at life. "Yes," he choked out. "Thank you, Mr.--"
Before he could finish, Jason struck him on the head with the butt of his gun leaving him unconscious. He walked out of the room leaving the door open.
"Get him out of here. Don't kill him, but make him hurt," he ordered without looking at the guard.
~~~~~
Jax made his way towards Jason's room and ran a hand down his face. He wasn't able to fall asleep again after he woke from his nightmare. He was determined to take down Sonny as soon as possible whether Jason decided to join him or not.
The guard walking next to him stepped in front of him and Jax rolled his eyes. "Wait here," he was told.
The guard knocked on Jason's door and Jason swung it open to let Jax in. "Thanks for walking me home," Jax smirked at the guard.
Jason eyed Jax carefully, trying to determine his best course of action. The best way to get rid of Sonny right now would be to distract him financially. While Sonny worried about that, Jason would be able to go in for the kill. The question that still remained was did he really want to join with Jax.
"So?" Jax sighed. "What do you have for me?"
Jason crossed his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes at him. "Why should I tell you?"
"You little prick," Jax laughed humorlessly. "I was right wasn't I? Corinthos had one of his men call from here with the purpose of sending me false information."
Jason ignored his accusation. "How close are you to Alexis Davis?"
Jax's entire demeanor changed. His smile fell and he glared angrily at Jason. "Stay the hell away from her," he growled protectively.
"Answer the question."
Jax opened his mouth to respond, but then narrowed his eyes at him. "What's this about?"
Jason sighed and sat on the nearby couch. "Alright, I tell you what you want to know and vice versa."
Jax nodded his head reluctantly. "Fine."
"Alexis Davis, how close are you?"
"What in the hell makes you think I'm going to answer your questions before you answer mine?"
"God, Jax, will you just shut the hell up and tell me?"
"We're close," Jax finally answered him. "We were married once, but you already know that."
"If you ask her to do something will she do it?"
"It depends," Jax told him evenly. "If it's something illegal, I sincerely doubt it."
"She's Sonny's lawyer."
Jax grimaced at the information. "And?"
"And you're gonna have to convince her to drop Sonny as a client."
"Better luck said than done," he muttered as he sat on the opposite couch. "Look, Alexis isn't going to drop a client no matter what I say to her. She has a mind of her own and she's stubborn as hell."
"Convince her, Jax."
Jax nodded his head slowly. "I'll try as long as you tell me what I want to know."
Jason sighed and grabbed a file from the coffee table next to him and passed it to Jax. "His name is Peter Salvador. He was reporting to Sonny and on orders from him directly, he was told to call you and tell you that the woman you were looking for was in Paris. He was going to contact you again in another month."
Jax digested the information as he read over the paperwork that was inside the file. "Where is he now?"
"Mr. Salvador no longer works for me or Sonny and he won't be making any further contact with anyone."
"That sonofabitch. I knew he had set me up," Jax muttered to himself.
"How bad do you want Sonny gone?" Jason asked him seriously.
"As much as you do, Morgan."
"Alright," Jason began as he crossed his arms. "Look, Sonny is starting trouble back in Port Charles. I plan on going back tomorrow or the day after, but I need to get a few things settled here first. I need for him to be distracted and I need Alexis to drop him as a client."
"What exactly is he doing?" Jax asked curiously.
"That's not important."
"It is when Alexis asks me and she will."
Jason uncrossed him arms and leaned in closer to Jax. "He's threatening a pregnant woman, harassing her."
"Who?"
"Why the hell do you care?" Jason asked angrily.
"Look, Jason, when I speak to Alexis, she's going to want to know who it is I'm talking about. Tell me now so I can go in and talk to her on a level playing field."
"It's Carly," Jason told him evenly. "Sonny's been harassing her and it needs to end. Now."
Jax watched him silently for a few moments. "Carly's pregnant?" he asked in a surprised tone. "And what, you're the father?"
Jason eyed him carefully and leaned back against the cushions. "No, but you already know that don't you?"
Jax simply smirked at him and shrugged. "I'm just trying to figure out what exactly happened to make you turn on your buddy Corinthos."
"Why are you fishing for answers when you already know them? I want Sonny dead, end of story."
He nodded his head slowly satisfied with his answer. "I'll call Alexis tonight. How do you plan on distracting Corinthos?"
"That's where you come in. You're gonna go after ELQ and the warehouse. Sonny has other properties all over the country, but right now those are the two that he mainly uses as legitimate holdings. I've already put a list together of all the properties, but if we focus on these two it'll serve enough as a distraction." Jason watched him for a second. "This needs to happen tonight, Jax."
Jax rubbed his jaw line already formulating his strategy. "And what do you plan on doing?"
"I'm gonna make sure that Sonny's arrested on attempted murder charges and when he posts bail--" Jason trailed off and smiled for the first time that night. "Well, he won't be bothering anyone after that."
"I'm going to be there when this goes down."
Jason began to shake his head, but Jax cut him off. "That's not negotiable, Morgan."
"Fine. As long as you hold up your end of the deal, we're on. All this has to happen within 24 hours, Jax."
"Not a problem," he grinned.
Both men acknowledged the other for a minute and reluctantly shook hands. As the old saying goes, "the enemy of your enemy is your friend." And it certainly would hold true in this unholy alliance.
