Xavier, Jared, MLeonard convicted
of desertion!
First GAPR Court Marshal!
After a long and heated two and a half-hour trial, the jury convicted Xavier, Jared, and MLeonard guilty of deserting the GAPR and not guilty of conspiring against the GAPR. The arguments were strong on both sides, and the jury had to make some tough choices.
MLeonard was present, and defended by Giant Squid, who also spoke for the other two defendants. Adm Foley was the prosecutor. Both of them did a fine job upholding their positions and maintaining GAPR justice.
The official sentences were decided by the commanding officer of the guilty ones. It was decided that Xavier, Jared, and MLeonard were all to be given a dishonorable discharge for their actions. Xavier and Jared were placed on one-month probation, after which they could apply to join GAPR once again. MLeonard, however, was banned from being a GAPR citizen forever.
During the trial, MLeonard went into a fury and left. Having no defense, the prosecution continued until the defense would be allowed to speak. At this point, the trial was declared over and the jury made their decision.
I managed to
get an interview with Adm Foley, the prosecutor, and Comrade Dan, a jury
member:
Jasonian: "Tell me, how do you
think this trial went?"
Adm Foley: "The trial went well
except for the uncooperation by the defense."
Comrade Dan: "Too long. Should
be 1 hour max."
Jasonian: "Were you sastifed with
the procedures?"
Adm Foley: "Yes"
Comrade Dan: "Some evidence was
irrelevant."
Adm Foley: "And it should have
been more organized."
Jasonian: "Do you think that this
decision of the jury was honorable? Why?"
Adm Foley: "Yes I do. I even think
it was a bit generous."
Comrade Dan: "I abstain on this
question."
Jasonian: "What did you think about
the defendant MLeonard's behavior?"
Comrade Dan: "Expectant of a man
prodded by Adm for two hours."
<Adm leaves>
Jasonian: "OK... Dan, do you think
this system should be used in the future?"
Comrade Dan: "Yeah. This system
should be used. There should be a permanent judge, a permanent jury and
a permanent defense and prosecutor."
Jasonian: "Man, I feel sorry for
those poor souls!"
<Adm returns>
Adm Foley: "Sorry I had to get out
of ICQ"
Jasonian: "No problem. Do you think
this system should be used in the future?"
Adm Foley: "I think that with a
little refining the system will work well."
Jasonian: "OK... finally, are there
any comments you would like to share?"
Adm Foley: "I feel justice was
served and I hope that our military never has to go through a Court Martial
again."
Comrade Dan: "Yeah. The burrito's
here suck."
Adm Foley: "And there is no whiskey."
Jasonian: "Here here to that!"
