Mexican Train Dominoes

Rules                New Game

Back to the Game

The object of the game is to be the first to win 500 points! Points are awarded to the winner of each hand. The winner of a hand is the first player to get rid of their dominoes.

Set Up

The game is played with a standard double set of 91 dominoes. Each player gets 15 dominoes. The remaining tiles are placed in the boneyard. It is advisable to assemble your dominoes into a train by putting matching ends of the tiles together starting with whatever number has been placed in the center, for instance, a 12-5; 5-6; 6-8; 8-1; etc. You want to build the longest train possible in your hand. To do this put yourself in ARRANGE MODE by pressing the ARRANGE MODE button, then click the tile you want to move (if you want to flip it around click it). When you are done put yourself in PLAY MODE by pressing the PLAY MODE button.

Starting

The player with the highest double tile must place it in the center (this will be done automatically). Whichever player played the double must then start their train by placing a matching tile on their tracks. Move by clicking on the tile to be moved and then clicking on the intended destination. You MUST be in PLAY MODE to play!! If the player can not start their train they must pick a new tile from the boneyard by clicking on the boneyard. Whenever a player picks from the boneyard they are given the immediate opportunity to play the new tile. Each player, in turn, must then start their own train by matching the center tile or picking from the boneyard. When it comes back around to the starting player they are free to begin play, provided that all players have started their trains. If any of the players has not started a train the player must start their train for them or pick from the boneyard. WHENEVER THERE IS AN UNRESOLVED DOUBLE TILE ALL PLAYERS MUST ATTEMPT TO PLAY ON IT. NO OTHER MOVE IS ALLOWED!! Once all players have started their trains a player can start the sidecar. To start the sidecar a player must play any double tile and then must attempt to play on it.

Playing

You MUST be in PLAY MODE to play!! Press the PLAY MODE button to put yourself in PLAY MODE. A player can always play on their own train as long as their are no unresolved doubles. Whenever a player has gone to the boneyard and not been able to make a play a flag will appear alerting the other players that they may now play on that train. Any flagged trains are available for play. Another option is to play on the sidecar. If no move is available the player must pick a new tile from the boneyard by clicking on the boneyard.

Winning the Game

When a player plays their last tile, all the other players add up the value of their remaining tiles and the winning player receives all the points.
