To Be A Collector
by Goldilocks

silence sizzles
off sidewalks in August
the sun-enveloped everyone
in an over-heated electric blanket
smothering words
silence swirls
with the gossamer curl of mist
rolling in from
Poseidon's nest
silence surrenders
a moment in time
to a photographers steady hand
over a tumultuous crowd
in times square
silence sweeps
a room filled with
staring people
the object of ardor -
sunflowers transposed with paint
silence speaks
like goosedown
during a summer storm
cooling a house
and the inhabitants within

t
o be a collector of silence...
solitude becomes a crowded throng
crowded with the silences of life

To be a collector of silence
to pick up silence and tuck it away
among the creases and folds of time
