This past year, I was involved in my school's literary magazine, and even had two pieces chosen for publication. The magazine recently received national recognition for the third straight year.
This is not to say that I am a total expert in poetry. Most recently I have been reading Keats' "Endymion" and T.S. Eliot's "The Wasteland", two contrasting pieces, in an effort to improve my writing. My demeanor has always been one to help others. I have been published before, and I have been known to have a key eye for critiques. I can spot with accuracy a great poem from one that needs a little work. I want to convey my joy for this art with the rest of you out there. You may be struggling, or you may already be accomplished. By communicating we can learn from each other, and so improve immeasurably. So I encourage you, send your poem in - don't worry about whether it's good or not - and I will gladly help you out, or direct you to others. Don't be afraid, and always, be creative.
